- This video is not about Karate/TKD being greater than MT.
There are other famous videos of similar stylistic matches of MT vs Karate that go the other way from this video.
In fact, Changpuek's fight vs Rick Rufous is highlighted as a turning point in Kickboxing in demonstrating the effectiveness of low kicks in fighting.
What this video demonstrates is that if Karate/TKD is trained and practiced in a full-contact context it can be very effective.
While this video is not VS Kitsongrit, Manson Gibson has defeated Changpuek Kiatsongrit twice, their last fight my stoppage.
This fight shown against Chanman Suk, is even under MT rules with clinches allowed which is one of the biggest criticisms of MT people when MT fighters lose under normal kickboxing rules b/c they are not permitted to utilize their full arsenal (which is true).

Well yea it was a pattern read that Chanman was lowkicking most of the time the supporting leg, so there was opening.

He uses his longer arms to target the chin when his legs got caught.
And used the side kick to maintain distance.
Finally his coup de grace was the back spinning attacks which were only effective because the threw it with precision, full momentum thanks to fearlessness in front of the round house kick.
Muay Thai has clinching and tripping, so hugging can't stop Muay Thai.

With that Bruce Lee stance, he must practise kicks way more than others, giving him more speed to execute a spinning kick like that one. It would be so cool if others pulled off the stance.

@@navigatingel6104 I think his "straight stance" would make him vulnerable to takedowns around his back. Though I'm not 100% sure why they don't use it. I'll definitely ask if I meet one.
@@thememaster7 It's the low kick to the lead leg they worry about. Manson's back fist counter to the low kick is the answer that would make the stance viable again in MMA but it's yet to be seen or tested. MMA is not kickboxing.

MMA is dominated by the Thais in striking philosophy so info like this surpressed. No one even chambers their legfor kicking like Karate they all let the leg fall including the front kick. @@KAR5AVATARGT It's not a dirty tactic, it's Muay Thai, you can kick opponent when he is still going down but it's illegal if both knees touch the ground. Now if you decide to do double low kick and your opponent manages to hit those both knees on the ground like they did, the kick will miss.
Btw Manson was losing this match up until the point where he landed that spinning heelkick so calling it an "outmatch" tells everything I need to know about you, casual.

Changpuek was past his prime in the first fight and was smaller, furthermore the fight took place under Shoot-Boxing rules not Muay Thai rules.
Changpuek was old and was way smaller than Gibson in their second fight.
Coban was fat, old and the fight didn't take place in Muay Thai rules.
Chanam Suk is an unknown Thai and he is way smaller than Gibson and the fight took place in Shoot-Boxing rules not Muay Thai.

American Kickboxing is a product of Karate and Taekwondo. So yes there are going to be many similarities, but American Kickboxing is the evolution of the eastern styles into a new system of fighting so it's not pue TKD although, for Manson, the TKD influence is very obvious.

@@joerogue231Even if he's not elite he is still a legend. He proved how effective Muay Thai is and exposed the shortcomings of American kickboxing. That fight with Rick Rufus is absolutely legendary. He's the reason Americans train Muay Thai to this day.
