I started playing this for the first time with literally no idea what I was doing, and my biggest mistake was only having 1 city for way too long.
don't worry it's a pretty common mistake. play as greedy as you can manage!
Usually within 50 turns you want 2-3 cities. I put all my starter cities with access to ocean tiles because I love me some naval warfare. Lol
I've played hundreds of hours of Civ 5 but only a couple in 6, is there any negative to building more cities in 6 other than wasting turns and some growth in actually making the settlers? In 5 you get more unhappiness the more cities you have, is there something similar in 6?
@@michaelstewart9308 Honestly I'm still pretty new to this game so there might be that I'm not aware of.
@@michaelstewart9308 No, the more cities you have the more powerful you are.
The difference is loyalty, if you put a city too far of another and have nearby cities from other empire the city can declare independence of you and in some cases join the other empire, that's the problem if you expand yourself with no control.
The happiness is different to every city, not general for all cities.
Thank god, finally the easy to understand guide that isn't one hour long. Your guide is really helpful. I play blind a few times and my town always evolved so slow.
glad I could be of help! let me know if you have any questions
Exactly
Yes 10/ 15-minute video are the right time length , they could make them in a series, part 1.2.3 etc. if need be. Any longer than that is too long.
Was just thinking this. Most guides are 45 minutes on here.
IKR? So many of them are literally hours long in multiple parts when I really just want a quick overview so I can learn as I go without everything turning to crap within minutes
That "one more turn" comic feels like a personal attack. lol
I ended up playing it for like 8 hrs yesterday accidentally lmao
But it's true 😂
Lovely. Thank you for making this. Realized as I was watching it, that after owning the game a few days, I had already learned some of these tips on my own, but it always feels nice to have your suspicions confirmed by a more advanced player.
Thanks for checking out the video! I'm glad it helped. Keep on killin it!
The in-game tutorial was a bit scary with all the numbers and mechanics, but playing was so much fun! I can't wait to dive back in. Thanks for the help!
of course dude! let me know if you have any questions
This is an excellent starter tutorial. I've been playing for some time now (Civ lll my favourite until Vl), but it's really good to have a tutorial that's not an hour long, with so much info, it's impossible to keep up. Yours is both concise and clear, and very relevant to those just starting out on their journey. Thank you.
appreciate you checking it out!
This is exactly the review I was looking for. I was fairly blind going in on my first few games, great work dude and thank you
thanks Andrew!
Just looked at the view/sub count and was shocked. Great content! See CZcams algorithm? I'm commenting. Give this channel engagement-points.
you the real mvp!
This guide was really easy to follow along and didn't cost me half my life to watch! 10/10
lol! thanks for checking it out
I just got this game on sale from steam and I played from 11 until 3AM. Around 350 turns later my city people started turning on me because I was broke and couldnt build housing 😂
ahh classic civ :) gotta love it
Your voice is so gentle I love it and why's your subcount so low
lmao thanks! i've had friends tell me i should start an asmr channel ahaha
Thank you! Brand new to the Civ series, but I can tell it’s going to consume my life. I’ve started over multiple times thus far, because I’ve been absolutely lost.
welcome to civ! it's an awesome game but the amount of times i've stayed up to like 5 am playing...
Try the complete edition of 4. I can’t see how it gets any better after that. It got so complex that they had to start dumbing it down for the later versions. 4 is widely regarded as the peak of the franchise.
@@logicaldude3611 If you like Civ 4 check out a mod called History Rewritten. The whole game gets an upgrade. It's awesome.
Just picked this up for Xbox for £5 and these tips are far better than the in game tutorial. The in game tutorial might tell you HOW to do something but does not explain WHY you would want to do certain actions. The game didn't even explain the game loop / premise properly. This video helped me make sense of a lot of things I was confused about. Thanks for creating it :)
appreciate you taking the time to watch!
5 bucks is a steal , look into the DLC if you love civ 6 the dlc will be worth it
This is a great intro video. I'm glad to hear my play style is pretty close to what you suggested.
Thank you sir! Appreciate you checking it out. Hope you enjoy your time in civ - it's a great game! If you ever have anything you need help with don't hesitate to reach out
You deserve way more subs. You have a great speaking voice. This video covered everything a new player would need to know to get started. You did a really great job on this video.
thanks so much! truly appreciate it
You dont quite understand how well made this video is made, its perfect
Im new to the game and you explained it so well. Thank you :D
i appreciate the kind words :D
The best Civ explanation series I've ever watched. Thanks a lot man for taking the time. Going straight to the next few videos
appreciate you taking the time to check it out!
Great video, super simple and easy to follow for beginners such as myself, which made it a real treat to watch. Thanks for the tips! ;)
thanks man! appreciate it
OMG. You responded to every comment. When this channel really hits its stride your gonna need 10 pairs of hands and a new multitasking chip on your motherboard. A tidy breakdown of the absolute essentials. Thank you L/s
I try! I'll always appreciate anyone commenting on a vid
You are the true game advisor. Your tip breakdowns got me envisioning a whole new strategy
haha glad to help! what kind of strategies are you imagining?
@@MohProbs your tips helped me navigate through this game a lot easier from my freeflow role playing. The start up tips changed the whole dynamic of the game, especially maintaining diplomatic relations.
glad the videos are helpful! you should still play civ how you want though! role playing is fun as hell and it doesn't always need to be about winning and losing
Thank you dude. I've been wanting to get into more strategic type of games, but they're so scary at first with all the mechanics. I feel a lot more confident now.
it can be a lot at first, but after a game or two it def gets easier!
Thanks for the tips!! My friend got me Civ VI for Christmas and I’ve been enjoying playing blindly and picked up on a few of these tips on my own but this should help me understand a lot more of what I need to be doing
hope so! let me know if you have any questions
Great tutorial! Starting my first Civ game... I am struggling a LOT. Tks for the tips!
it's definitely tough at first but after a few games you definitely will get the hang of it. Good luck bro!
Absolutely perfect intro to the Civ games for us new players! Thanks so much for making it!
thanks for checking it out!
i bought civ 6 on sale a couple days ago and it’s very different from the games i’m used to playing. your videos have been super helpful, and i have a much better understanding of the game than i did after playing the in-game tutorial :)
I'm glad they're helping! Let me know if you have any questions
Appreciate the guide. Easy to understand and also not a too long video. Thanks!
PS- Your voice is so soothing.
thanks for checking it out :D maybe one day i'll make an asmr channel haha
Going to subscribe. This is my first civ game and this is the first of your videos I’ve watched and I loved it! So well done, love your style so much
thanks for taking the time :D
Great video, thanks so much for making this. You're talented my man.
thanks brotha!
This is the best tutorial for Civ 6 I've seen yet. Thank you.
Thank YOU
Thanks! Keep the content rolling!
Appreciate you checking it out! If you haven't already - I have part 2 out here: czcams.com/video/OWoXaBlEpPw/video.html
I got CIV when it was free and just got into it. Only recently got into term based games. Absolutely loving it. Thanks for this video.
free on epic? that's exactly who i made the vid for originally haha :D
Great video. I’ve played civ in the past, but not for a while. I’ve got the itch again and this was a nice primer. Also, you have such a pleasant voice. 😊
thanks! appreciate the kind words :)
Thanks! Great video, my growth is usually too slow and some of these tips I didn't even consider.
Awesome work!
thanks for checking it out :D
I had to sub not only bc the video was really good but because the very chill demeanor you have. Thanks!
appreciate it :D
when i first opened up the game and the tutorial alone took over 20 mins i knew i was up to my ears. thanks for explaining the most basic of basics bc i didnt know any of them x
thanks for checking it out!
You just earned a sub from me. Very helpful video for new people like me that literally don't know jack about the game. Will recommend you to a friend of mine also trying to learn the game more!
thanks! i appreciate it a lot :D
Thank you so much, I had to go through really bad guides before finding yours, that was really fit for a beginner. Thanks again.
glad i could help!
Thank you. This was the video I needed. I REALLY want to get into this game but the tutorial only does so much and every other video is 20+ minutes and I just wanted a "here's what will help you out in the beginning" type of video that won't consume most of my free time to watch. I only have so much free time a day and I don't want to spend a week watching videos to learn the basics. I know alot of people can just pick it up playing but this is my first civ game and I'm not the just figure it out type on games like this so thank you for this video
thanks for taking the time to watch!
Just got it for the switch and this video was a giant help!!!
thanks bro! let me know if you have any questions
Haven't played since V, just downloaded it. Thank you for the basics!
appreciate you taking the time to watch!
This turorial is incredible. Thank you for this, 5/5!
thank you :D
This is huge help. Thanks so much!
glad I could help! let me know if you have any questions
I played maybe 3 or 4 games in civ 5 a few times (each like 15 hours long) and started pkayong civ 6 with friends, without ever watching a guide. I thought i knew it all but this video taught me some things too, like those options in the settings.
hopefully you learn more!
such a chill video, love it!
thanks Santiago! appreciate it :)
Great video! And thanks for keeping it short ☺️
thanks for checking it out!
I've been playing Civ VI for a couple of hundred hours and I still don't feel like I know very much. Thanks for the video!
yeah these games will do that. you might be 500 hours in and find new little secrets and whatnot. definitely take time to explore the different menus!
Great video! Thank you for making it!
thank you for checking it out!
This was a great video. Thanks for the tips.
let me know if you have any questions!
Sweet! Thanks for the tips!
Appreciate you checking it out!
Great video, thanks!
thank you!
Nice video man. Just bought thia game and this helped!
Thanks for checking it out! Glad I could help out
Just recently got this via the Anthology, learned really quickly that barbarians should be destroyed and that playing "tall" works a bit differently this time.
It is *still* possible to have few big cities, it's just that the minimum for few is a lot bigger now cause otherwise you will miss on strategic resources and room to build districts in the late game.
yes barbarians are everyone's most hated part of the game ahaha. You can definitely still build tall and they even added the Maya as a tall Civ, but I definitely think you want at least 6 cities or so
@@MohProbs The Maya are ineed my favorite civ because of that and because I just think their culture and history, both ancient and recent are fascinating and deserving of more praise and recognition than they currently get.
Oh and most importantly, because of their *glorious* Industrial and Atomic era themes.
dunno if you've seen it but i did a whole video on the Maya in Civ 6 where I actually cover their culture and history as it relates to the game - just thought i'd put it out there :)
@@MohProbs Thanks! I did!
Hi, thanks for sharing this. A big help for beginners out there.
glad it was helpful! let me know if you have questions
Dude, your voice is made for tutorials! It's so nice and relaxing to the ear.
I appreciate that a lot :) asmr channel next lmao
Great guide. Thanks for this 👍
of course! let me know if you have any questions
Thanks for the tips! I really want to enjoy the game but its kinda complicated as a new player to the series. Won a couple of times by Religious Victory which is very easy, I just want to try out other victories too. Thanks man.
thats actually interesting cuz i find religion to be one of the harder ones. personally i find science the easiest
Great info!! Tks a lot!
no problem ken!
New to this game and this vid was solid, nice work
thanks for checking it out! enjoy the game :)
Just picked it up via the steam sale. Going to use every tip in this vid.
good luck! let me know if you have questions
This really helped me out thanks! I just started the Mobile version of the game.
thanks for checking it out! hopefully the mobile version is the same
Thank you for the information. Civ VI is a big game that could take years to master. All information is welcome. Love these types of videos. Age 62 in retirement enjoying these types of video games.
thanks for checking it out and hope you enjoy!
I’m 68 and just starting today !!!!!😮
@@terryhenderson101 never too old to enjoy a great game!
Thanks for the video! Just got the game today and I've only ever played civ rev so it's definitely a leap haha. How important are early amenities? It feels like as soon as I settle a second city they are unhappy with plenty of turns before ill be able to build anything for them.
just my opinion, but I feel like amenities aren't THAT important. I think as long as you aren't going massively negative (like beyond -3) I think you should be fine? either way, still good to make sure you grab them when you can
i subscribed for the chill vibes ! 👍
appreciate it! i've been really busy recently so haven't been able to work on videos but i plan on getting stuff out in the future!
Thanks for the tips!!!
no problemo!
Great video man. I’m a new player and this was definitely a big help. You got a new subscriber 👍
thanks my guy! appreciate the support :) been insanely busy but will try and get more vids out soon!
I literally started yesterday and man oh man I didnt understand what is going on but I guess that's the beauty of a new game
it can be a lot at first, but thankfully i think a lot of it feels very natural. just try stuff out and see how it goes!
My suggestion for new players is to play with Germany. Their production bonuses really make them a jack of all trades for any play style and victory
germany is a good pick. i think rome and japan are solid picks too
Great video, thank you.
thanks for checking it out!
Great tips really helped me out
appreciate you checking it out!
Thanks James!
thank YOU Meanmug
Thank you!
thank YOU for checking it out!
ahh this is awsome thank you MohProbs
thank you for checking it out!
Really cool guide
thanks :D
Thanks for the advice. The only time I had played before was the mobile game like 7 years ago and I just got Civ 6 and had no clue what I was doing
good luck!
Really good video !
thanks :D
I subbed good job!!
thanks :D
Great content man
Appreciate you checking it out :D
I just bought the civ 6 anthology on sale and was completely lost. Thank you!
let me know if u have questions!
Whoah! How is this channel so small!? Subbed. Thanks for the tips. I completely understand why my secondary cities produced so badly.
thanks bro! appreciate you checking it out
Good video, learned a lot
Thanks man!
nice; thank you for this. liked and subscribe
Appreciate the support!
Thank you. Some gems in here
of course bro!
thanks! total newbie here, trying to keep up with my boyfriend on games and struggling. cool tips!
appreciate you checking it out! hope you win against him soon :)
Great tutorial!
thanks bro!
as soon as you mentioned catan i played until 2 am on a school night, addicting as hell
Once you play civ, catan feels so simple
5:26 I love how he explains that Archers are likely the best way to go when in doubt...then immediately chooses Mining as an option, that has nothing to do with Archery.
Use a rock as an Arrow
Nice vid!
Thanks dude! And thanks for subbing :D
Thanks you!
Of course bro! Thank you for taking the time to check out the vid!
Great video
appreciate you taking the time to check it out!
Omg... Thank you!
thank you for checking it out!
i have a different idea on the yelds, you can disable to show yyelds but u can make the game show you when u put the mouse over a tile its on the game options, it makes the visual of the game more beautiful without that many icons ruining the visuals, its called "mouse over menu help delay" on settings u set it to 0, and u always see when put mouse over.
and its good to enable all other map options too as it show u the name of things.
yeah i feel you on the yields ruining the visuals. I just think it's easier for new players to play with the icons on at all times.
and yes - having map names and stuff can be useful as well
Thanks
Hey man, thanks for this video. I have had civ for more than a year, and I'd play it very early game, and give up because I just had a lack of focus and idea. This video definitely have a good general idea of how to play it. Just one question: What is the benefit of districts and how do I set them up?
Thanks for checking it out!
Districts help give you boosts to certain resources which aren't as easy to generate from the land. Once you determine how you want to win - you will likely want to make the appropriate districts for your victory type / civ. So if you want a science victory make more campuses, if you want a religious victory make more holy sites, etc
Ive never played a game like this but Im reallyy considering giving it a shot lol looks cool
hope u tried it out!
I shared this to a friend who's new to Civ 6 and always getting her ass beat, lol. I hope she finds it as helpful as I did!
appreciate it :D hopefully it helped
Appreciated
appreciate you!
thank you for this video on my first playthrough I tried to just brute force it by just focusing military units and I died when I hit industrial and everyone else was modern
not a bad strat, but if you do you want to make sure you attack early and knock a couple dudes out
i had this game for a year havent played it since aoe2 came t gamepass my friends became obsessed with strategy games then bought civ 6 i have slept like 4 hrs a day for the last week damn this game is good and im glad to see we figured out most of those beginner tips on our own throughout the week / 3 games xD
multiplayer civ is a whole nother animal!
Just got the game a few weeks ago. A learning curve but can't get enough out of it. Still playing my first real campaign as the Russian empire. I ended up losing the race but was still inclined to keep playing past 500 turns.
Ended up eliminating Philip ll in a epic war that took over 50 turns. Nuked Barcelona for the victory. Currently pesting Japan with endless missionaries and outrageous demands. Meanwhile Norway just lined up all it's naval fleet on my borders. This game has been great so far.
glad you're enjoying it!
