Esmerelda and Aunt Clara, along with Uncle Arthur were three of my favorite characters on the series. They were all so wacky and funny.

Jay Robinson played Caligula in both "The Robe" and "Demetrius and the Gladiators".
I think he was also on Days of our Lives at one point. 😅

Ironically, I think is acting was more subdued on BEWITCHED.
Robinson also played the title role in DOCTOR SHRINKER on the KROFT SUPER SHOW.
The scene where Caesar says, "I command you to appear..." all the way up to Darrin's arrival wasn't part of the syndicated prints shown in the late 1970s and 1980s. It wasn't until the show was remastered that we started seeing it again. In the syndication prints back then we were left to wonder why Esmerelda was walking out of the kitchen without a body again, the last time we saw her she was either fully disappeared or completely present.

good to see jay robinson relive the part that made him famous in the ROBE 1953, but like the real emperor apparently power went to head ,,he should of done more media playing the vicious caligala,he was good at that

This is the first time seeing Esmerelda I see a lot of Uncle Arthur (Paul Lynde) in her. Special effects are uncanny. I've only seen the Sergeant years in clips.
She replaced Aunt Clara that died in real life. The Aunt Clara episodes were the best.

I wonder if the writers of the show caught the coincidence of Ceasar appearing in the kitchen after Sam talked about a "Ceasar" salad.
That was the joke. Esmeralda tried to make a Caesar salad using witchcraft, but she screwed up the spell and brought JULIUS Caesar from Ancient Rome into the 20th Century instead.
