the way Captain Jack's all smiles and cheesiness in front of Graham (who he thinks is the Doctor) but as soon as Graham can't see his face when he hugs him, Jack looks a combination of relieved and almost sad? Just proves what an interesting character he is, using the "Captain Cheesecake" front to hide what he's really feeling.
Yess! He has so much personality compared to other characters. I love him!

@@brewingstation9764 Do you mean that a woman should not have been cast or that the doctor should've died after the 11th since he used all of his regenerations before being given a new cycle?
I heard that in an episode of Torchwood, Jack made some trans phobic comments which were seen as out of character. So maybe this was a way to make up for that.

What a great scene. Jack is such an epic character and I love that he’s back. He interacts the characters in such a hilarious way and he at least redeems season 12 in some way or another.
Jack was the only good part of Chibnal's run. I would also say the new Master was a highlight, since I loved the actor's portrayal, but it felt like the entire season of character development that the Master had as Missy was just obliterated, as if it never happened. So I could never quite get behind the new, fully evil, Master. We can of course pretend that this Master is an incarnation prior to Missy, but I think that's giving Chibnal way too much credit.
@@nickhy9223 The new Master was not threatening the actor was way too OTT and cringe imo. Comparing him to John Simm or Gomez is in a different league. Yes they were OTT too but they at least has intensity and danger about them.

He was the only one that got an award for his acting in the Rosa episode, highlighting how poor the rest of the cast were. They severely cut his role back after that so he wouldn't upstage the diversity hires.
It would've been great if he was actually the 14th Doctor accidentally stumbling across his past self before realizing this was supposed to happen, essentially making it a fixed point in time.
I mean a lot were hoping he would be when announced

I got so over the top excited. Watched a lot of reaction channels for this. Props to Chibnall and the whole production team for keeping this secret so well.
I just wish, I could have shown this to my mom, who was a huge Captain Jack fan. Unfortunately she died roughly 6 weeks before this episode aired....

I feel like something very important is about to happen....
Ironically, this has been the only episode of Dr. Who I've seen when it comes to 13 (I've seen almost every other episode since its revival in 2005). I was just bored one Saturday night and decided the watch Dr. Who and it turned out to be this episode, and I just smiled when Captain Jack returned. Hopefully he is in the next series.
I would suggest watching season 11 and 12 my man. Jodie really brings a joy to the role none of the last few have had. Like they had fun with the role but it was always to mask the darkness of the doctor so to speak. But Jodie has a joy that helps me to enjoy the series. And demons of the Punjab felt like an actual classic doctor who episodes where it's just humans and the doctor can't do anything but watch everything happen. It was a pretty heartbreaking episode. And graham is just so precious too in every scene.
The best actor on earth can only work with the scripts they’re given.

I felt like this was the only good episode mainly because Graham and Jack on the set were a joy to see.
It was always something that broke my heart. Is it at the end of the day Jack would’ve been the perfect companion for the doctor. Someone who would never leave. Call it biology Call it nature it just sucks immortals and time lords can’t interact long term.

@@alansmithee419 I think it’s because having an immortal around could corrupt him and make him forget who he’s fighting for, the mortals and humans he travels with keep him sane and “human” otherwise he could very easily turn into the master

Yes, but only because it includes Jack. After David Tenant left, everything became too borning to watch with every next doctor after him! And the transition of 12th to 13th served a political agenda to support transgender genocidal thinking. For which I didn't watched even one full episode of Jodie(13th)
Please bring back Torchwood! Please, please, please! Even after 10 years, the series is sorely missed. And Ianto, please bring him back as a series regular too! You've made your point, his death had a serious impact and still has, considering the time that has passed since his on-screen death. But it's a sci-fi show so anything is possible! Janto is such a beloved couple. And no, bringing him back won't cheapen the drama in CoE. Please, please, please! 💖 #torchwood

I choose to believe that Chibnall had Jack appear as a disembodied voice for the first 30 seconds before literally bursting back onto the screen as a reference to the fact Jack's been an audio-only character with Big Finish for the last five years.

@@redhood7650 its a little worse than bannerman split up. The actress who played Sarah Jane passed away sadly. That's why the series just kinda ended where it did. It was supposed to have some final stuff with the eleventh doctor but she wasn't able to film after a certain point so they were allowed to release I think like 6 episodes post that were filmed prior to her death. From what I remember it was cancer.

I know we all love Jack's theme and music related to him and Torchwood, and I know it would of been awesome to hear it here.... but wow this is SUCH A SICK TRACK! Literally the best Segun has made in his tenure as composer! The only other track that is as good as this is his new arrangement of the Doctor Who theme! (I enjoy some tracks from Rosa, Kerblaam and Demons of the Punjab, but they're 2nd tier).
This track was used soo well for the return of a beloved character, I feel like it should become a returning motif throughout Segun's Era, not for Captain Jack, but for everytime we get a big returning companion! How cool would it be to generate the same feelings of hype, nostalgia and love by only using this track for reintroductions of characters like Martha, River, Ace, Kate Stewart, NADRIE etc. It would just be a great way to evoke the same emotions we all felt when Jack surprised us, just saying... it would be awesome! ;D

Seeing as how he and Capaldi used to be in a band together, I would have loved to see Ferguson play the Master alongside Twelve. Of course, had that happened, we probably wouldn’t have gotten Missy and she was brilliant.

Wouldn't we also need a Captain Jack hartness timeline for when he interacts with the doctor the same way we have with river? It's essentially the same kind of thing they can time travel and they're both immortal essentially. I can't imagine they interacted with each other fluidly throughout their own time streams. It would have to be sometimes like river in the doctor, right?
I'm still trying to understand what this scene actually accomplished. What did Jack actually do in this Ep, besides creating some buzz outside of the story?
He popped in, spouted some vague foredhadowing which changed nothing, and got out.
His scenes were him either talking jibberish of winking at the past.
There's a lot of wasted potential, writing wise.
The whole episode was like that really. The Doctor and co did nothing except watch teaser trailers for upcoming episodes
It's wasted potential if they have no intention to bring him back again (and I'm thinking even beyond Revolution Of The Daleks). If it was intended as a set-up to him being a more common recurring character I think it's pretty fun. I think this episode is excellent
