    Even if they just add reinforcement segments I'd be happy. One thing that was great about Deathstorm 3 in SE4 was that even if you cleared the whole town out, more soldiers would pour in after the facility blew up. They didn't immediately come in guns blazing, they were there to just make the exfil harder. Same type of thing happened in Lorino Dockyard with the tanks and Magazzeno with the additional Jager when the radar exploded. The only time reinforcements show up in 5 is with the alarms and those things are super easy to destroy. Definitely think reinforcement segments would work well in Sniper Elite 5

    Hey man, great vid. This just makes me miss SE3! I think we are all suffering from console transition. When I played ZA4, I was so impressed with so many new mechanics on that game, I thought Se5 would be so far ahead of 4. But honestly, for a few things here and there, it's pretty much the same. The only really noticeable thing issue on Se5, is that the maps are really so big, really makes you wish you could get on those Nazi bikes and drive across the map a little faster. That said, I really hope SE6 is exclusive to next gen consoles, and that they really, really go out there with such a rich game, that we won't believe how awesome it is.

    • @BrutalBarracuda

      I think they could perharps make a enhanced version for people who would like that kind of thing. But for people like me who are stuck with a ps4 for now they could do a lowered graphics etc to suit them

  • @Nifter71
    @Nifter71 Před rokem +4

    Nice one Brutal! The Villa at San Celini in SE4 would have been another great one to defend against a counter-attack at the end of the mission...
    I think the fight with the partisans in Bitanti Village in SE4 was an example of a great (sort of) set-piece that could take place mid-mission - you didn't have to even stay and fight with the partisans in order to complete any particular objectives, but I'm betting that most players usually did!
    The absence of Rangers in SE5 was definitely kinda lame, especially at the end of Liberation, when Karl is spearheading an attack on behalf of... no-one lol

    • @BrutalBarracuda

    Yeah fully agree, the endings are pretty wet, only thing keeping me interested in SE5 now is Axis Invasion. A really good example of what you’re saying is the ending to Obliteration, Deathstorm 3. You think you’re there when you destroy the reactor, but no! Heaps of bad guys and armour descend upon you. Exfil is a hard task in itself!

    • @BrutalBarracuda
      @BrutalBarracuda  Před rokem +2

      Ah Deathstorm 3 **stares up lovingly into the sky** what a fantastic mission. I agree, I absolutely love Invasion mode. I love invading but I prefer to be invaded. It adds so much more to the campaign, so much so playing Sniper Elite 4 just feels a little empty now.

    • @English_Speaking_Fox
      @English_Speaking_Fox Před rokem +1

      @@BrutalBarracuda It’s the planning for invasions that I love. Knowing that after a certain period the invader will turn up. What tactics will you use? Where will you go? I love setting up overwatch positions and luring them into my field of view, e.g. shooting an explosive. To get round the boredom of having to blow up AA guns, how about getting the invader to do it for you? I’ve made some epic trap lines with mines and TNT leading to satchel charges on AA guns… boom boom boom boom BOOOM! Hell that’s fun. Landing Force is good for that trick. But when you get an invader who’s wise to all this malarkey, that’s when it’s really tough and those long cat & mouse battles ensue where the outcome is very, very uncertain…

  • @peterhughes7099
    @peterhughes7099 Před rokem +2

    I fully agree BB. The missions all went out with a whimper not a bang.
    Flipping the subject though. I do think some missions could begin with a stealthy insertion (no unconscious/ killed trips) by pass all guards/ personnel with a fake ID to (for instance) kill Hitler/ Goring/ Himmler/ extract a prisoner. And stealthily (or by bluff) get the prisoner out of the castle/ barracks/ facility without anyone knowing.
    Or maybe doing an extraction mission like the Chris Hemsworth movie where Fairbourne can only do silent (hand to hand or knife kills) to complete the mission?
    Any alert/ alarm that goes off (regardless of the level) means you go back to the start.

    • @BrutalBarracuda
      @BrutalBarracuda  Před rokem +4

      @Nifter71 Před rokem +1

      Totally. I was well pissed to find they'd dropped the 'infiltrating in trucks' feature that we saw Karl do in the trailer!
      What the game needs to do is give you high-risk / high-reward options. Really tough infiltration options... to get you to a point that gives you a really commanding view of the map, so that your stealthing really pays off! And then keep you on your toes with spotters and snipers, so you have to stay on top of things...

    You aren't wrong in the least about this. A greater sense of danger, higher stakes, gets your blood pumping, cold sweats, its time to hold off waves! In a sense, by incorporating such elements into specific missions (preferably the latter ones which just makes more sense), this in turn allows players to get comfortable with Invasion as an additional play option.
    Still however, truly the one thing that NEEDS to be brought back that has been sorely missed throughout the entirety of SE5, are the tripwire trap mines. Those were a go to for me, I'd just set them up all over the place at random just to cause havoc & chaos.

  • @NoOneUNo

    Sniper Elite is the best in my opinion right from the beginning. I think SE6 will probably be war in the Pacific as SE5 was flooded with Rising Sun flags..but what I would like to see is a prequel to ww2 with ww1 starting in Belguim. You could pick being French, Scottish, or English assisting Irish, Canadian, Russian or German troops. I want to be going over the top in all weather doing night raids, digging tunnels, planting explosives etc, real accurate to the battles. Drive a tank, ride a horse and motorcycle, setup barb wire, maybe rescue wounded comrades,, etc.. Make it so it can be played offline, battles like Loos, Verdun, Somme, Ypre, Mons, Hill 70,etc..anyway in 1917 or 1918 a young Carl Fairburn shows up with the doughboys and makes his mark on the western front before its all over. Battlefield 1 did well, but I am one of many who hates playing online. Respawning only to be assassinated by someone repeatedly is a waste of time. Battlefield 1 missed the mark there, and someone needs to correct it.. If Sniper Elite did ww1 I know it would be epic and I know it's a worthy undertaking. Best wishes to all.

    I think adding mid level reinforcements would be interesting. After 20 minutes or so guard shifts would change or Non specific enemies would respawn for specific areas to repopulate the map. Thus putting importance on hiding bodies and not making the map feel empty near the end.

    I’ve got a few things I think the game could do better in future dlc or change in updates.
    I think se5 suffers from the lack of friendly ai, the second and second to last missions in se4 had small ai shootouts that added good verity.
    I also think they should rework the way enemies can see you in the dark or in shadows, right now there’s no reason to shoot out lights or turn the power out with fuse box’s. In se4 if you walked from a well lit to a darker area the circle on the mini map that showed you how far enemies could see you would shrink significantly but in se5 shadows barely change the circle size at all.
    I really like the fuse boxes as an idea but they just alert all the enemies and don’t really give you any advantage.

    • @Nifter71
      @Nifter71 Před rokem +1

      The lighting in SE5 seems weird as hell. Shoot out lights, and the areas remain somehow still lit up. Is light purely cosmetic? Makes no sense for a stealth game! And why oh why can't we snuff out candles ffs!

    • @Nifter71
      @Nifter71 Před rokem

      Yes, definitely more interacting with friendly Ai is needed! I'd gladly see every single 'cinematic' cut scene ditched in favour of this... Working with Ai allies adds motivation, and increases immersion IMO!

  • @torstenwinkler8610
    @torstenwinkler8610 Před rokem +2

    I don't agree that the missions should end with a bang. Now the levels are so big, that, if you take time and try some different approaches, it can really be a big chunk of time spend in there. I wouldn't want to have a forced event at the end to try to squeeze in some more excitement, when I already did a good days work. I really enjoy playing the game the way I want and not the game dictating what I have to do when.
    But here is a thought. I would really like to have optional objectives influence the game more. And even over multiple missions. Like if you kill all enemy snipers then later you would face less snipers. Or if you don't take out all tanks you'll face more of them later. And I would even argue to make some objectives closing others off (if you complete objective A you can't complete objective B). I want the game to react to the way I'm playing - like if you play all stealthy then later the enemies should be on higher allert - while if you always go loud, then they wouldn't need to be on guard as much. That could make the game more fun to replay in different styles or encourage to try different tactics.

I've tagged both snipers, killed enemy to set up shot and have been within 100 meters or 50 even and had the 1903 16 power zoom to make sure I got it and same thing, bullet sparks when hitting scope. I am glad that I was able to get a shotgun kill at 260m. That was great but some things just made 3, 4 a great game. I know we have to expand and sometimes things get cut out but it's a SNIPER GAME. We all know of the greatest Marine sniper that ever lived, Carlos Hathcock made thus shot in real life. He held longest record for over 40 years and he didn't use a modern sniper rifle, he mounted a unertil scope on a M2 50 cal and put on single shot and shot a vietkong at 2400 meters plus. Simon didn't use a scope at all, great sniper, ladies in USSR great snipers. Some things just can't be taken out of a game series. Scope kills and animations is 1 of them. Love this series and I know we was all effected by the scary 🤒 so things got messed up. I bet without that BS game would've been even better.

    The game mechanics and design have improved with each installment, but the mission objectives are pretty bad at this point. This game is more like Saboteur Elite; no, Saboteur Mundane/Tedious. San Celini had the right idea: kill the officers. There would be absolutely nothing wrong with having a couple of missions in each game be as simple as that one is.
    Bitanti Village, too: I sneak through the entire level just to reach the church and provide support to the partisans from above, blow the gate, done. Sounds like a realistic sniper mission to me.
    And Regilino Viaduct might be the best level in an SE game, ever. But every level that has been produced since those first three levels in SE4 has been a bit underwhelming, to me. I was THRILLED when I first booted up this game and saw the Kill List objective…and extremely disheartened when I discovered that most of those kills were best completed with a knife to the throat or a silly gimmick. The main objective in most of these levels should be eliminating a high-value target. Loose Ends could’ve been great: infiltrate undetected and race to the vantage point while the clock is ticking. But nah, just drop me off in front of the building and I’ll test my long-range Welrod skills. I haven’t tried completing the game without using a rifle, but I’m pretty sure it can be done and that’s kind of sad.
    None of this will stop me from playing or from being pumped about SE6. But I’m not touching this game again until they give me my damn Mosin-Nagant already 🤬

    actually i have to disagree: why?
    because openworld with an open mission design simply doesnt allow obcetives that block any way to "complete" a map. Like the mission would have to end on that exact high note 10/10 cases. And while many players did indeed enjoy killing those 2 snipers or that one tank if the map design begged for it i cannot remember even a single one of my peers who didnt complain about ALL of the provide cover msiions in v2 and 3. they were poorly animated, dull, redundant and the Ai was incomprehensibly stupid. Since the humble begiinings of the SE franchise these technical inadequacies will not occur again granted, but the biggest complaint remains: these "survive" objectives are uncomfortably long! S4 and 5 are epidemies of "let the player do what he likes best" and those oppressive "you have to do this every single playthrough" objectives are, generally speaking, either very short or extremely modular and extremely customizable/doable in many ways, if not even both.
    To fix and improve on your demands S5 offers 1.) invasion mode, which COULD NOT FUNCTION if there were heavy AI respawn on the maps and 2.) survival mode which actually made it its premis to hold off an army of AI which constantly gets more & stronger. If your unreasonable demands were met both of these enjoyable modes would permanently suffer since they couldnt be en/disabled by those who have an opinion on them. doing what you want will lead to many players leaving the game as your demands are stupid. players loved S4 and 5 more than 2 and 3 so its not going to happen anyway. You cannot have your cake and eat it too. So please take the game for what its supposed to do.

      You like it the way it is, thats also a valid opinion. No need to be calling anyone stupid though.

      @@BrutalBarracuda my main consern is that the main dish in the entire franchise has always been the campaign. sure if you made some of the missions in S5 more "survival" the survival fans would enjoy that. everyone else would hate it though. plus the survival mode already exists. personally S5 is just an 8,5/10 game to me so its not super enjoyable or anything but i recognze that is constructed in a very smart manner. v2 and S3 however were not, they were just big Indies. More passion projects if you will but certainly no crowd pleasers.

      Valid point also. That's why it should have both cakes and eats also. Finish a level by their design by completing set main or 2nd objectives ends all well, don't do it quietly, the way it's set out and there's hell to pay, not a truck with 5 bad guys that when u set a mine they all die anyhow. These ideas and mission designs is why we still talk about 3, and 4 today. We all love the game that's why we're here, but it is not perfection at all. Good yes, perfect NO. Alot of that is due why? Kung Flu. If they would've used designers from 3 and 4 with 5 we'd have some of these extras. But fellas we got duped. With all the granny's gonna die if u don't wear a face diaper, get jabs, boosts, more jabs and boosts ruined it all.
