Here we go again ppl saying how they dislike his music and ppl jumping to his defence.
If you don't like Bruce don't listen its that simple.
Music should be enjoyed!! So go listen to something you do like and try not to upset ppl that like the stuff you don't.
Just remember it would be a dull world if everyone had the same taste

      High five buddy
I don't know how ppl don't get him
      This man is the best
I've listened to thousands songs and singers but none of them has a chance against the BOSS
Bruce sings about life and reality
Songs !! Moderns songs just about love and girl friends and u know
But this man sings about something else
In every one of his song u can find an experience and a tragedy and life and love and everything
I just consider this man the best singer / song writer ever
      Even better than bob dylan
I love dylan and i love his music and listen to him a lot
But bruce makes me feel alive

Some of the comments criticize the acoustic version as too simple. But the chord structure is actually fairly complex. At least for rock and folk, this is about as complex as it gets. The voicings are subtle for the basic chords and help to highlight the vocals. It starts simply. G | G | C/G addG | D7/F# addG (X 2). The intro has a pull offs on E+C first time through on the second G chord, anticipating the move to C/G; and there is a four note G chord sliding up in the intro for the second time for the second G chord instead of the pull off - the chord is DDGD. The verse starts with the same first position chords from the intro. Then after a couple times through with words, we go to a bit of a walk down for what sounds like a pre-chorus: C9 | G/B add D | C/G | D/F# (X2), then C9 | Amin | A9 | C/G | D/F# then one run through of the first four bars of the intro with the pull-offs. Repeat for second verse. After the second verse we move to Dmin | Dmin | F | F | C/G | C/G | Amin | G/B || Dmin | Dmin | F | F | C/G | C/G | Amin | D/F# | D/F#. Then we go to the verse chords again and finish with a sequence of the first four bars of the intro. For the pre-chorus the high e string is not played, same after the Dmin chords in the middle 8 minor modulation. Often the strumming is focused on the low strings, especially during the singing.
That is a lot of different chords, a modulation to a minor key, subtle use of bass voicings (often dropping the tonic of the chord), suspensions, and dominant chords with and without 7ths to give different colouring to turnarounds and entries to verses. The palm muting throughout much of the singing adds some punchiness and drive that complements the vocals and lyrics. The acoustic treatment makes sense. This is an older man singing a young man's song. It is now about a future that is getting behind the character; the escape is slipping away. The acoustic setting + harmonica is appropriately subdued and even elegiac. Listen to the words of the third verse. That it sounds simple and direct is a compliment to the Boss's artistry. It is a magnificent and highly original counterpart to/cover of the up tempo electric version. We are lucky to have both.

during the opening harp part, he is playing basic G to C and that opened up partial D I explained earlier... the second time around instead of that D, he simply keeps his fingering with the C and slides up two frets to create a quasi-D... now, to contiune from where I left off... the next chord after the open A string chord in the pre-chorus sequence is another of those D chords... after he says "born To Run" he goes G C and that D, just like the top...

@sublimeruca27 sorry, I wasnt aware that it was illegal to dislike something by Bruce Springsteen... Fancy albums?? music from the streets?? what, its impossible to play the song with the same chord structure of the album version alone on an acoustic guitar? of course not, its relatively easy... again, for those not paying attention someone asked how to play THIS VERSION of the song and I explained it to him, that does not mean I am obligated to LIKE IT... I was doing the guy a favor

Wow, did that version suck, all three chords............

    • @jw6588
      @jw6588 Před 7 lety +1

dirtyshortsPU You only need the tonic, subdominant and dominant chords to harmonize every note in the scale. Any other chord is pretty much just a functional variant of one of those three chords. It's only when you start modulating that you need other chords, really.
For example, a supertonic chord (2, 4, 6) shares two notes with the subdominant (4, 6, 1). If you make the supertonic a 7th chord (2, 4, 6, 1), or add the sixth to a subdominant chord (4, 6, 1, 2), both fairly common substitions for a simple triad chord, then they would be made up of the same notes. Harmonically-speaking, they can be made to function pretty similarly.
It's better not to judge music on its structural merits if you don't know music theory well enough.
Three chords is always more than enough to rock. Shows that Bruce isn't confused by the structure of his own music. This version is great for what it is.
