YOU DESERVE ALL GOOD THINGS IN UR LIFE. THANK YOU.
Np 🫡 best of luck, cool pillows and green lights for u as well in this trying time (visa application)
I commented because it was good, clear, and helpful!
Thank you
This is exactly what I needed, I wish I knew I had to start this earlier. Thank you so much for this!!! ❤
@@isabelsiete10hola. Yo estoy aquí en los Estados Unidos. Pero, desde el extranjero puedes también hacerlos
Aún estoy esperando que me llegue mi apostilla. 😮
La mejor explicación. Paso a paso
so much appreciated!!!!
This was great, thank you so much!
Very helpful!
Thank you for the video. I wish I saw it 4month ago. I'm finally in Spain. I have been doing all these steps until November 2023 in Florida. It is a really challenging procedure. For the apostille I found a website that was a bit pricy kind of 130$ more or less but took for me 2 weeks to get apostille i stead of 4-8 weeks. Which is I hope an helpful dt to share😊
Definitely! Those paid services are expensive but they certainly provide a great convenience :)
Thank you for your comment, would you please list the website to the paid service that helped you to get the apostille expedited? It is so hard to figure out who is trustworthy and we really need it to be done fast due to the time sensitivity. Thanks again!
Pls let us know the site you used to help to expedite the process. Thanks!
@@guillermon2390 Above is the website we found but didn't use it yet. We saw this site used by someone in the video on youtube. He said it was legit.
Hola. Con quien los mando hacer?
Hello, Catie! Super useful video! One quick question: did you send a printed version of the rap sheet in PDF that you received from the FBI, or did you wait for a physical copy from the FBI to arrive?
Waited for the physical copy
@@CatieChapman ¡Muchas gracias! :)
This video was super helpful. Thank you, I have a possession of alcohol charge on my rap sheet from 2007 so my background check is more than just one page. Would I need to have the other pages apostilled as well or just the first page? Thanks!
The whole document, so all pages
hi, this is extremely helpful. do you know if the email needs to be in all uppercase? or if our names need to as well?
Typically upper/lower case does not change the recipient of the email. Ie, FirstnameLastname @ website dot com is the same as FIRSTNAMELASTNAME @ website dot com.
@@CatieChapman Do our names need to be in one case tense or another?
@@marioandtyler i would imagine not; ive been told as a tip from a federal office worker that evenly spaced, printed (not cursive), capital letters and in blue or black ink is easiest to read
Don't USPS labels expire after 28 days? How do you get around this for the return label?
Not sure about this! As it's requested by the office, it's hard to say. Perhaps UPS labels are valid for longer?
the u.s. department of state says to get our documents notarized before even submitting for apostille? is this a new requirement from the u.s. department of state?? do i have to get my background check notarized now?
Only if its a state-level (and not federal-level) background check would you need to get it notarized pre-apostille.
If you background checked through the FBI you're good to go! No notarization needed before apostille. The dept of state website says verbatim: "do not notarize FBI background checks". travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/records-and-authentications/authenticate-your-document/authentication-certificate-requirements.html
Some consulates require notarization/translation post-apostille as well. That's why I consider it the most complicated document in the visa process 😅
Since I also need to have my medical certificate apostilled should I send it in at the same time as this? Just the one DS 4194 form for both documents that I need apostilled?
Yes :) might as well
Thank you so much for your help! I was wondering, if I'm doing a renewal of my visa while living in Spain (but I got the background check when I visited home recently), can I get the background check apostilled in the US and then put my mailing address as my address in Spain so I can get it shipped here?
Possibly. I would submit a inquiry to authentications as to whether or not they would accept a international mail/courier service and/or be able to send a prepaid envelope provided.
If you do have access to someone in the states who can accept and/or mail it on your behalf, I think that would be much easier. travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/contact-us/authentications.html
But, I would note that to renew your visa (if it is still valid/if you have a TIE already) while in Spain, you don't need to repeat the initial visa process. The renewal process is different. I don't have a video up on it yet, but you only have to submit documents from and in Spain, not including an Apostille. That's only for your initial visa application.
Hello, do you include the ca/ppt/s/to/aut part in the dress when you mail it ? What does that mean?
It's an abbreviation.
"In the United States, authentication of state-issued documents are performed by officials of the state in which they are issued. Federal documents are authenticated by officers in the Office of Authentications in the Office of Technical Operations, Passport Services (CA/PPT/S/TO/AUT)"
From fam.state.gov/FAM/07FAM/07FAM0870.html
So am I actually supposed to address the envelope like that when I mail it? Including the abbreviations ?
@@micaherrin9115 that's the one i used in 2021, a quick look on the authentications website shows this address for apostilles:
Office of Authentications
U.S. Department of State
44132 Mercure Circle
P.O. Box 1206
Sterling, VA 20166-1206
Me aclaro la duda. Gracias
This is really helpful! Do you know if I need to get the background check apostilled before translating? Thanks!
Yes! If u have to process translation/notarization, it should go Background check > Apostille > Translation > Notarization
Do we have to notarize translation as well as apostille?
Do documents have to be notarized prior to apostille? Does the apostille need to be translated? 🤯 this process is insane! I have so much anxiety 😅
@@loveeeseme3991 you’d only have to get notarization prior to apostille if you us a state background check (which would be dependent on your consulate’s requirements). If you get an FBI/federal level background check you do not notarize before apostille. The dept of state website verbatim states “Do not notarize federal background checks”.
@@loveeeseme3991 it would be in all one step if you did. As the ^^ thing above states, translation comes before notarization. Usually, certified translators are also notaries. So they can usually provide that service all in one :)
Am I allowed to print the FBI background check I received online or do I have to wait for the physical copy?
@@codyobenson for the apostille I think they prefer the original (?) but unsure (couldn’t find info on the state department authentications website to back that up). In any case, the original (physical) copy is probably best. It’s how I’ve been advised to submit in the past.
@@CatieChapman Thank you for the advice and swift reply! Ok, I will wait for the original document in the mail.
The state vs federal notarization is not clear. You say you only need a notary for state issue? The truth is you don't even send that in to federal for apostille so that info is wrong. The Federal website states the below for any document sent to them. Do you really have to go through all of this and did you?
Before submitting documents to us, you must:
1) Get a notary public to notarize each document:
Using a county notary? Go to the clerk of court first, and then a state office.
Using a state notary? Go to a state office.
2) Make sure seals and signatures are originals
Get a certified copy from a notary public. A certified copy is a copy of a primary document with a certificate on it that it is the true copy.
Get records, court documents, and federally-issued documents certified at the state level.
@@dustnspace so this is all great information in general, but it's not the state department's choice as to which document (state/federal) you would need to submit for your student visa in Spain. That would be the consulate/embassy.
This video specifically is for auxiliaries as stated. Although there are multiple ways to get background checks & Apostilles, this is the method by which most auxiliaries will be getting theirs as required for their visa.
