-He won on a 037
-He walked away alive from a 037
The way he drove Porsche is like a sunday ride. With a kind of harmony. Very cool interview with THE legend.

12:54 my favorite quote is when he was racing the Audi team, he was already in the finish; they were waiting on Michéle Mouton's S1 to arrive, but she radioed in that the car caught fire on stage, what to do? Walter said: well, just drive into water! And that's what she did. I believe that year she came 2nd in the Rally Championship.

Misha this was amazing, thank you so much. He's certainly one of my youth heroes. Great to see he's still "crazy" .The light touch footwork when shown was a very nice bonus.
I'm looking forward to posting his footwork on FB/IG/TikTok and having some Karen comment that he cannot drive because he's braking with his left foot.

Walter has to be in his mid 70's or so by now and even after all this time he's left foot braking, drifting and sliding all in perfect control while having a nice conversation in his 2nd language.
If you haven't seen his driving from his career please go and watch the videos. His skill and car control - especially when you remember cars back then were completely analogue - are amazing to this day.
He's a genuine legend and a really nice guy to boot.

This man/myth/legend gave us some of the best quotes of all time! one of my favs is... "A car is just fast enough when you stand in front of it in the morning and are afraid to unlock it."
Had a huge smile throughout. What a humble man. The ease with which he was flying around and having a proper conversation while being extremely smooth. Respect. Him in a 904 going around the 'ring would be epic.
Being humble seems to be one of the things that every rally driver is. I have met almost every Finnish rally legend and all of them have been so nice, so good mannered, humble and just enjoyable to speak to.

Good to know Mr Rhörl will try to race again. Very good news. Probably one of the bests racing drivers at least for me. Even in this video he seems stay with you in a bar instead of in front of the steering wheel. All day long drifting and he doesn't even realize it. Great!

Legend! there is no other word to describe Walter Rohrl. I watched this man in the 80`s with group "B". I dont think there is a more experienced man than Walter, he has driven so many different makes of cars all with success. Take my hat off to this man.
1975 Opel Ascona, 1978 Fiat 131 Abarth, 1983 Lancia 037, unfortunately he didn't win the Acropolis with Audi. I grew up hearing stories and watching highlights of those wins. I love rally because he probably left a lasting memory in my subconscious. Him and Mischel Mouton. I remember her winning with Audi. Memories. One of your greatest videos.

Walter Röhrl is an absolute Legend！First time seeing Him drive was a CZcams video where He drove the 997.1 GT3 RS and later the 997.2 GT3 RS. The way He drives is so smooth in the Twisty roads of the mountain but His handling of the Car is yet so Calm and Stable going really Fast. He was talking while driving as well just like this video, but You'd notice He never lost any concentration or fumbling in His steering wheel. Amazing experience to watch Him Drive！🚗

I was watching Walther back in the 80's and he has always been one one of my favorites. Watching your interview with him was so warm and inviting. it was like seeing two old friends reminiscing in front of the campfire it was so sincere and I am sure Walter appreciated that. Thanks so much for showing a side of Walter few of us get to see.
You wouldn't believe how much about driving skiing can teach you, how to approach the corner how to go through it what to do before another, the sense of speed, working with weight also it is just magic and I love skiing as much as i love driving it gives me the same feeling.
I learnt recently Walter Röhrl drove a few races in the Trans Am in 1988 for Audi. And won them. Went from rally to road. Absolute legend!
Walter Roehrl and his Lotus ralley car had been the inspiration for my first car it was a Lancia Beta coupe 2.0 L engine. Till today a big fan of ralley sports, much more interesting than F1 circus . Always appreciated Walter, his gentle smartness and humbleness. Tks for this interview and upload.👍

I have to agree, I have watched a lot of interviews with racing drivers over my 62 years and this is one of, if not my absolute favorite. I used to compete as a co driver / navigator back in the day and this meant a great deal to me. Thanks so much for the great job of showing Walter at his best and most sincere.

To have these two in a lineup could be perceived as outright bullying of other competitors :-) Hopefully Kubica's hand is healthy enough to cope.
@@Ariskot007 he stayed for a while in the nurburgring a few years ago and did dozens of laps, i don’t think his hand was an issue. Look up Misha’s video

Walter is such a cool guy. Just met him recently on the opening of the new porsche center here in my area.
Although I was born in 90s and wasn't able to watch them live on TV as a kid, Rohrl and Ari Vatanen are probably drivers I admire most as a grown-up now. True champions on and off the track / stage. Such composure, integrity and humility to admire and follow their example. Happy to see your channel growing and giving you opportunities to share experience with such amazing drivers and personalities!

What I love so much about this is that his steering correction and transition is very smooth and utilize more throttle control.
Which is why I dislike some drifter, their steering correction is so frantic and aggressive with the throttle that it doesn't feel like an art of drifting anymore.
Personally I can't talk and drive at the same time.. I need to turn radio off when I park the car... and this guy had a full interview and was driving Porsche on ice :O

This is one of the most informative and probably exclusive vids you've made, Epic! And about being, are starting in motorsport, i'm convinced that some people just have the 'natural feeling' after a while, like when i was young and sitiing in the car, i always wanted to put my foot firmly on the car to feel the hobbles and so on, but had no idea why i did that, and by coincidence, i did my first trackday at 23, and haven't crasched (on track) since, but i'm def not saying i'm such natural, but Walter has that ability as he says around 11:00 till 11:30ish. Hope to see more of those shared drives with pro's and even people who just are addicted to it, like thilo, moran, and so on....

Walter is an amazing person and i hope to meet him some day! I may only be simracing though he is one of the driver's who are the reason i drive the way i do!
