- Spearfishing in North Wales (Anglesey) the the Cemyln Bay area, near the nuclear power station. Shot some Sea Bass and saw plenty of Pollock, with cool freediving around the wreckage of the disused pier
Anglesey has fantastic spearfishing for Sea Bass and Flatfish, with Pollock and Grey Mullet also present. - Sport
Very interesting. Thanks for a great vid
Nice!
First! I've been meaning to hit here this year too - I've been marking the top north east of the Island on the Ordinance Survey!
Some good ground in that area, loads of seals so it must hold fish
Few questions you could help me out on, do you always tow a smb/float? If so how do you stop getting caught up in the line when ascending especially if you have speared a fish (2 lines)
@@andjjones9728 I generally don’t use a float. However in areas with boat traffic I do recommend taking one
Having a longer float line means the float (and line) will be well away from you when ascending, if diving in 5m I find having 10-12m of float line out works best
Thanks for sharing.
Are you alone when spearfishing?
How deep do you maximum go to reduce risks?
Usually I dive alone. Am comfortable spearing to around 20 meters however in the areas I dive virtually all the fish are in 1-10m
Have freedived much deeper than that so it’s about only doing what you’re very confident with
Sorry to hear you have damaged your ACL, I am about to start spearfishing, going on a course next week. I have a torn ACL and a grade 2 MCL. I had the OP done, re-tore it bouldering. I would actually like to hear your thoughts on spearfishing with a damaged ACL, or if you want to know more about my experience or about the surgery options hit me up. Though from the video I guess yours isn't too bad, hopefully you won't need an op.
Basically the knee has collapsed almost at random twice, both during sparring (boxing)
Have limped to marks on crutches and it’s been absolutely fine Spearfishing, the compression of the wetsuit seems to help a lot
How was the rehab after your first surgery?
That's my local fishing mark. 😊
@@Coast2CoastFishing-jg1px hope you find more fish that I did!! Can’t say I’m in a rush to go back, the area was cool but didn’t see many shootable fish
@jackmetcalfe8542 all around the head is great fishing, bass do tend to be caught further out,
@@Coast2CoastFishing-jg1px well I got in again yesterday and absolutely mobbed by seals. Up to 5 visible at once underwater. Barely saw a fish!
@jackmetcalfe8542 well if tge seals are there so are the fish.
@@Coast2CoastFishing-jg1px do you spear? I think means fish are in the general area, but once the seals are active the fish vanish
Speared off Bardsey island and literally didn’t see a single fish for the first 2 hours, just hundreds of seals!
“Barely legal” 😂
Great vid! What weight level are you wearing to get down to that low? I wore 6kg in a 5mm suit (79kg body) and kept floating back up
@@AlexWilkinson307 I’m in an 8mm suit (6’1 and 83kg) with 12kg of lead in this video
However usually I wear a 7/5mm suit with 7kg
@@jackmetcalfe8542 thanks dude!
An irradiated sea monster is gonna eat you bro
great video, just please dont advertise such a unique place, in a few years tourists will flood there :(
It was busy years ago when the outflow was still operational.
Glad you enjoyed the video. What I would say is that the marks I give away on CZcams are average at best
Did you see a lot of fish in this video? If tourists flood to an area where they saw two average Bass get shot in a video then that’s just a dumb thing to do 😂
@@jackmetcalfe8542 Enjoyed it thoroughly mate, thanks for that. Many people never get to see underwater footage like that.
To be honest most people can go years without catching a Bass, there's more to it than turning up and chucking a bait out haha.
It was a lot better for Bass when Wylfa was operational but like you said, it's not a prime location anymore.
Keep up the vids.
😃
I believe they are getting the go ahead to start building a new reactor on that site in the future.
@@stubeard7981 a few people have angrily messaged me about giving the mark away but I couldn’t honestly recommend it - the vis wasn’t great, it’s awkward to get to and there just weren’t many fish
cant cach them with rod shout never speer them
