What's so funny is when I went to see Avatar - The Way of Water, I kept thinking "this reminds me of something..." and didn't realize until the last 20min of the movie that it was THIS book because it's literally Avatar fanfiction lmaoooo

I've read the first two books and plan on eventually continuing on. They are enjoyable because they are funny and ridiculous, like if these books took themselves seriously I don't think I would like them but they know they are cheesy and lean into it, which is sometimes what you need :)

The beginning of this book could actually be sci-fi survivalist horror (kidnapped, captive, dumped in a unknown planet with hard climate conditions)

I gave it 3 stars. It was ridiculous, funny, and compulsively readable. It was a short and fun audiobook. I haven’t continued yet and that’s just cuz I needed a break. Of like… a year.

I had very low expectations for this book, so after reading it and laughing so hard, I’ve now bought books 2 to 4 (love the new cover art and the spines look good on my shelf).
This was hilarious and any book that makes me laugh because it doesn’t take itself seriously, is a “good” book 🤣

I never thought I would be the type to read smutty books-and yet i fell in love with Ice Planet Barbarians. Despite the heavy topics in the beginning, i wanted to continue reading and was well rewarded with a light, snuggly and fun read featuring great romance and great sex. I am currently, as I write this (august 11 2023) six books into the series and loved every page of it.

Imo, the first one is the worst one (not saying it's bad just in relation to the others). I'd recommend reading at least one more and then decide on the series *especially* if you didn't hate the first one. I'm not all the way through the series yet but so far they've continued to improve, where I'm at we're getting some solid worldbuilding, and from an outsider perspective there seems to be some pretty decent representation in different areas *especially* compared to the kind of smutty romance books this would usually get grouped with. 💜

I thought I would dnf or completely hate read this book, but that did not happen! I loved it, couldn't stop reading it. It is sometimes ridiculous, completely suspend your disbelief kind of book. I have already read the second book, and own the first five books on the series. I'm now invested in this series. 😆🤷🏻♀️
I also fell into the rabbit hole last year :D They keep getting better with more rep and the back story of the planet is really interesting.

I haven't read this book, but when I read something in this genre it is because I'm in a slump and I need something really readable. Also, I often laugh at the description and I do enjoy the read, even if I can say that it is bad. I Don't read a lot of it, but I believe when your in a slump it is great!
I read this in January without aaany expectations and I really enjoyed it. I had so much fun with it and just fully embraced the cheesiness! 😅 I love that it doesn’t take itself too seriously.
By the end I was on board 😂
For me it’s not a fantasy and it doesn’t fill any sort of need in my life. If it wasn’t romance would you put those sort of assumptions on a reader? People read all types of books for different reasons. For me it’s entertainment. I like the survival aspect, the community and found family aspect. It’s like cozy sci-fi with alien peen.

Please read Dark Needs at Night's Edge by Kresley Cole. It's the only romance I feel like you'll love. It's paranormal romance by the way.
I describe these books like train wrecks, they are awful but you cannot look away and are somehow strangely compelled by it. Your reactions were priceless. I am a smut reader and romance fan and even I have my limits LOL this one would for sure make me roll my eyes and cringe but if it busts your slump that is a win in my book. And OMG the kitty on the shelf made my day but I imagine it gave you a heart attack.

I just finished the book because of your video. It was awful and awesome at the same time and I'm one of the people who read that in public (took an 6 hour train).
I just love how Georgie was fine being pregnant cause my thought would be like... Yeah that's people don't have any pain medication right?
I also love how she didn't care at all that Liz was kidnapped by some barbarian at the end of the book. She's just like... "well she will manage lmao". That's one of the reasons I actually got the second book which featured Liz.

So I’m currently reading this book and yes it’s ridiculously dumb and wish fulfillment but you know what? I LOVE IT I love how the author made it where the alien and human couldn’t speak the same way to each other and I can she wrote it as a fun read.
Yay!! I think that all the people who started this book (me included) did it thinking it’s going to be ridiculous and they’re going to hate it and at the end they find it entertaining and even continue with the series. Personally my favourites are the 2nd and the 4th

You should really read The Bourbon Thief by Tiffany Reisz, it's the perfect small-town gothic mystery with great writing and character development.
I prefer the kittens over the Ice Planet Barbarians series. I have not read it, but I heard very weird things about the series.
Luckily the kittens appear throughout the vlog to keep us all sane lol

I'm aromantic and i like reading sex scenes bc not being romantically attracted to people has nothing to do with it. You probably meant 'asexual' or 'sex-repulsed' which is not the same thing.

@@arobinreads well, it's great that that's your identity and experience, my aim is not to dismiss them and apologies if my words came accross that way. It's just that the word 'aromantic' does not mean being repulsed/indifferent to sex scenes and there are words that do carry this meaning.
I feel insulted :D I love this series so much. After the first book I was like "huh wtf." But I read the second and third on a whim and then I got hooked and I read nearly all of Ruby Dixons books so far. :D
I also like the rep she included in the later books.

I read this right before I was adding coworkers as friends on goodreads. I had to tell them before adding them to please don’t judge me by what I read. I was slightly embarrassed. I had the more risqué cover logged in too. BTW, I also gave the book 2 stars which equals an okay read for me.

I have to say...it must have been something if you read the whole book over one day, but struggled to read ONE page of Beware Chicken in over 2 weeks. 😂🤣 Not that I've read this, but it sounds like you had a lot of laughs while reading it! Just talking about them to my friends almost makes me break down (because it's so ridiculous)
There is an overal plot-line through the books and the sexy times are a kind of bonus :P
But most of the other pairings doesn't happen as fast.
Does the writing get better? No, not really

I read this because I saw you were going to finally dive into it (and it's on KU) but I think I was reading it wrong because I was far too interested in the whole alien-human trying to communicate with each other :D Colour me disappointed when that was 'solved'.
LOL, I don’t think I could get through this one. I get second hand embarrassment, too. I’m still trying to recover from the sex scene in The Horse Whisperer, and that was years ago. :)
I didnt thought i'd enjoy the book as much as i did in the end and the writing made it so funny for me. Its like a part of u wants to dislike it but its just way too entertaining💀Even if u are a smut reader its very ~ special ~ lol
I’ve only read the first book too. I read a fair amount of smut (it’s my go to palate cleanser between complicated books) and I felt the same as you about this one. Not great but not as bad as expected.
The one thing that I keep thinking about smut wise- is they talk about him having this firm nub that hits her “just right” (trying to be vague for YT censorship purposes). When he’s really going to pound town I kept thinking it would feel like getting kicked in the cl*t over and over again. That can’t have felt good 😂😂
That's something I wanted to address and ended up dropping because of CZcams lol How convenient for him to have that when they don't have "third nipples" XD
