Mama Cat: Perséphone (Pear). Took her in while pregnant due to a neighbour neglecting her. All black. Has thumbs. Pretty sure she's a dove.
1: Charlie aka sweet baby. All black with no thumbs. A bit shy and loves to hide under the couch.
2: Clawdia (Nibbles). Black and white with a beauty mark. She has thumbs... wouldn't surprise me if she stole them.
3: Harry Houdini (Chunky). Black with a white patch on his chest. Has thumbs. If it's eatable, he will try to eat it. He's a cuddle bug. I can't even go to the bathroom alone.

100% as soon as my cat hears someone getting a glass she’ll come to claim it as hers. And with the previous watterbottle I had I used to have to fill the cap with water for het to drink

I love this challenge and all the kitties are so sweet! That purring clip was pure serotonin. I loved it. I'm so happy Momma is finally being able to get vet care. I'm sure she'll be feeling her best self once she's spayed. Also, I think all kitties love their guardian's water glasses. I drink with straw cups exclusively now because of that. Also, my Evvie has taken to scratching the pages of my book. No idea why.
Congrats on finishing the book! I hope you continue with the series. A solid 4 stars is nothing to complain about.
If the kitty ever steps on the hot burners, immediately put yellow mustard on the paws and it takes the burn sensation away. My grandma's cat stepped on a burner and I did this and he was fine. Idk why it works but I does 😊 I've used it on myself too!

It's nice to read a book without wanting to unhaul it or feel like reading it is a chore, PHEW.
The kittens are so cute and this year I´m reading more fantasy too.
I recommend The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud for funny djinns. It's middle-grade but accessible to adults! ;-)

I totally feel you about the meowing. I fostered pregnant cats with my mom and the worst part is always when they go back into heat. Like please, for one minute can you stop yowling 😂Hoping for a quick and easy surgery and recovery for mama💙

I always feel like it feels a bit YA when the MC thinks the other characters died but then didn't. It almost feels too easy? But mostly I'm afraid the guy she loves isn't actually dead and will show up again in book 2 lol

The reading challenge went so well because sweet, sleepy Charlie picked your book. My cats try to drink from my glasses all the time. I adored all the kitty content and updates too. Glad momma cat is up to 8.5 lbs! You're an amazing cat momma ❤. I'll have to check that book out too.
To keep the cats from the counter I put aluminium foil on it (the counter, not the cat) for a few days

Some men are weird about spaying/neutering their pets. Hubs lived with a cat who went into heat and was immediately convinced of its importance. Glad mama cat will have one less thing to worry about soon.

One thing I really don't like in books is when a character comes back to life and it kinda happens in this one and I'm afraid they'll do it again in book 2 XD I feel like it happens a lot in YA books and it cheapens the experience imo.

So happy with your Stardust Thief review; I bought it back in January & it’s still on my shelf! Plan to read Stardust Thief on vacation in July…loved the soundtrack of the cat purring. So calming!!

To keep them off the counter/oven you could try leaving something like empty water bottles lined up along the edge. I know someone who taught their cat not to jump up with kids plastic bowling pins. After a while you don’t need them anymore
Weirdly enough it only lasted a couple days. She's luckily over it!

I saw kittens in the title and I was like yup will watch now! I meant to read the stardust thief and never got around to it so thank you for putting it back on my radar. The city of brass series is SO GOOD. That is by no means me shaming you but I hope you can continue that series and at least finish the first one. And so happy that mama cat is going to get what she needs so you can have a more peaceful home again!

If you're worried about the kittens climbing on counters, etc., here are some deterrents I've heard of (I only tried one, and it didn't really work for me). There are sensor-activated things you can buy that spray out air, which startles the cat and makes them leave what they're trying to get at. This didn't work for me, because it also went off when **I** walked past, so it ran out of air within days. Some people also use aluminum foil, putting it on surfaces they don't want the cats on because they apparently don't like the feeling. Cats also dislike citrus smells, from what I've heard, so putting things like oranges/lemons on those surfaces might help (not entirely sure how it specifically works, so research would be needed). Hope one of these helps you!

I enjoyed this one too! I think I gave it a similar rating 3.75-4 stars. I also remember feeling like it read a bit too YA for an adult fantasy book. It was still an enjoyable read and looking forward to where it goes next.

Charlie sounds a lot like my tuxedo cat, Astaire. He knows I use bookmarks so if I foolishly lay a book down within seconds he's removed it (usually by tearing the pages) He even manages to remove clip on bookmarks.
I've been putting my bookmarks in the middle of the page now to avoid that! Charlie got his teeth on the book I'm currently reading again... it never stops XD
The Stardust thief was okay, but I’m not going to continue with the series.

Chunky has thumbs, a white patch on his chest, a much smaller head and a belly, also his fur has more texture but at a quick glance it's hard to tell even for me!
@@BookswithEmilyFox I thought Charlie was the one with the white patch hahaha I always try to look at the thumbs but normally I see Clawdia's thumbs but not Chunky's hahaha
The purring clip is Chunky too and you can see the patch! Their eye color is also different. Chunky they're more yellow-green and Charlie is more orange!
