- At last, I'm back. Sorry for the wait, everyone, but holidays are holidays. Incidentally, eventhough I just arrived Monday, my jetlag is preventing me from getting to that beautiful dreamland I sorely miss, which I guess work for some of your benefit. Anyway, we have about 5 months left, so here's for a (hopefully) good year ahead (Honestly, at this point, I'll take a moderately awful year). Original air date 2.1.2017

I love Bristol. They are a real team and also seem very likable. I wish, though, that people would hold off on their judgement of Clarke. She seems fully committed to the show and also manages her teammates brilliantly. As for her demeanour: being in front of TV cameras and knowing that everything you say and do will be watched by millions is not only intimidating but also extremely frightening. If anything, Clarke seems a little flustered at times. But I do not at all think that she is aloof or arrogant. You only need to observe her interact with her team to know that she is actually a very friendly and enthusiastic person (the Netherlands geographic segment is particularly revealing).
slightlygrouchy I don't have any problem with Clarke, but my word are Bristol irritating to watch. They're brilliant on the starters, but they waste so much time on the bonuses regardless of whether they know the answer. I shared Paxman's frustration.
I like Clarke. At times she looks like she wants to smack someone upside the head :-) she also has a slight ASMR thing going on. (imo anyway)

An attractive female who isn't always smiling and vivacious will invariably be perceived as 'arrogant' or 'aloof'. A comparable male is 'serious' or 'stoic'. My perception of her is that she's introverted and, as a result, a bit shy.
@@fossrampant5826 Very sorry, a comparable male is in the comments to UC invariably said to be smug, arrogant, or aloof, in which case, sex has nowt to do with it, which is hardly suprising, since such comments are invariably by people who are themselves smug in their own sense of superiority.
Bristol look to have assembled a real TEAM there.

I used to like the winning team, but they stalled so much!
Bristol is one of the first teams I've seen really use the optimal (but unsportsmanlike) strategy of stalling significantly with a lead to try and shorten the game.
I don't think they're deliberately trying to stall - it's just that they can't make up their minds...
Wonder what made you think that after even Paxman said Bristol's 265 was a 'very impressive score'. They all did very well throughout.

I really like Bristol, and hope they get to the finals. They've got the brains between them to do it, even if they take an age to reach consensus. I do wish Clarke would smile a bit more though. For most of it, she doesn't really seem that enthused.

Shanil Misra Having been to one of the two Universities in New Zealand that do medical training, I've gotta say it's not so much they don't need sleep as much as it is they just don't have time to sleep. Any time I thought my BA workload was tough, I just looked at those guys and thought "Nah bro, you've got it easy".
