The epicentre of Punt was Eritrean port that was known Aduli ( White water in Saho language). The ruins of the old civilization are still there. No major excavation has been done. People who studied ancient Punt confirmed as Eritrea being the likelihood place as they found dna's of monkey hair found in Egyptians tombs and monkeys found in Eritrea to be the same.
Even though Eritrea was the epicentre of Punt the boundary of the land must have included areas deep into Ethiopian interior ( Semein region) and in the costal area as far as Zeila to the south and Egyptian borders to the North.. I say this for two reasons. There is an Adulite king ( from Aduli/Adulis) who left a monument written in Greek describing his war campaign against tribes of Agame, Adua, Agaw, Beja, Semein & in coastal region the tribes of what he call " Barbarosa" i.e. Barbara in Somali land and bringing them under his rule. Hence the first proof. The second proof is the existence of a Saho clan known as Gadafur which probably originated from Somali Dir clan known as Gadabursi . As majority of Somali land clans have DNA Haplogroup known as "T" which is very rare in Eritrea its existence in Eritrea may prove this link. For those who don't know Eritrean geography Afar & Saho are tribes who live along the Red Sea coast of Eritrea and Djibouti.

This is quite possibly the most false and pseudo-science examination by non scientist i've seen on this topic.
Scientist have been studying this for the past 100yrs and most of them concluded it's most Punt is most likely the ancient city of O'Pun (named by greek who were known to not be able to pronounce "F") in modern day Ha-Fun in Puntland Somalia.
    1) Greeks have noted on a voyage that Pharoah Seth of Egypt was passing through modern day Somaliland in Somalia on his way to "O'Pun"
    2) 1970/80s a small excavation was conducted which found Ancient Egyptian pottery, coins, inscriptions. Also greek, Persian, Roman and Chinese coins and artifacts.
    3) Somali coasts were one of the worlds largest trading ports in the world, where Europe, Asia, Africa and Middle East met to trade, it said you could find all the luxuries in the world, hence why the Roman colonized upto Ethiopia and Yemen stopping at Somalia's borders to maintaining good trading relationship referring to the somali ports as the free states and strategically important trading partner.
    4) Somali culture share disproportionately high amounts of similarities in terms of language, customs and culture with Ancient, espically with its dances. There are a lot of customs and traditions named "the Pharoah's xyz" and in terms of language there are alot more words that Somalis could understand comparatively to its neighbors such as Tigray and Amhara which would be much harder to understand.
    5) Geologically if you look at the terrain from satellite, its noticeable Ha-Fun was an extremely wet location that would require houses on stilts, second cave painting in the area show that the region was extremely wet like the rain forrest which Somalis have since destroyed the ecology by overgrazing, ironically if grazing was banned the region could still go back to becoming a forest based on 18 months tests in Somaliland.

Their progenitor being the Khoisan in Southern Africa. It makes one wonder why upper Egypt to ancient Egyptians wasn't towards the north ( Europe ) but to the South ( interiors of Africa) ; it was in reverence to their ancestors from those parts. One of such ancestors was the god Bes / Bisu with his Africoid features
