Hi oliver. Just wanna ask your idea about online interviews in Metropolia UAS? What are the common questions they ask for students applicants? Thank you.

Hello. This might be slightly unrelated to the video, but whatever. I am still one year away from finishing my Baccalaureate, but I am wondering about what final mark would I need to get upon finishing my Baccalaureate (Bachillerato) here in Spain to be able to have a chance of going to Aalto. There is no info or comparison to the Spanish Bachillerato grades. *Are there any websites or places where I can compare the grades?* Another thing is that the small admission rate kind of bums me out. *Are there any tips on increasing your odds of being accepted?* I am interested in doing the Bachelors in Economics that’s taught in English.
    Thank you. đŸ‘đŸ»

Hey Conrad and thanks for the great question. This is a complicated topic with a lot of unknowns so please take into account that i have to simplify things quite a bit.
Anyways, to be quite frank, when you apply for a bachelors in economics, your high school grades, or in this case you baccalaureate grades, are not the most important thing (note the word _most_). Im not saying that you can just screw around and get lousy marks, however you do not have to be the best of your class. This is because when you apply for a bachelors in business (including economics) you are required to take the SAT's for the application. Your SAT scores are way more important in terms of the application compared to your high school grades.
This is where it gets complicated. I have no idea how these are officially weighted against each other. In addition, even though Aalto university publishes the minimum SAT scores from each year, these are just the minimum scores. In Finland university admissions are done on a competitive basis meaning that there are a limited number of spots and only the best candidates are admitted. Because the amount and quality of applicants change each year, the minimum requirements (including the SAT scores) also change from year to year. This is why i tell everyone that while the minimum scores are a benchmark, you should aim much, much higher if you want to maximise your odds of getting admitted.
I hope this answered your question at least somewhat.

@@RoadtoFinnish Kiitos for taking the time to respond! Really appreciate it 👌
Thank goodness that I don't have to be the best in class, learning in 2 foreign languages at the same time isn't very easy.
One thing that I kind of forgot to mention though is the fact that both your final grades from Bachillerato and Selectividad (Spanish SATs) count to your "nota de tall" which is a mark that allows you to enter universities here in Spain which is marked out of 14. Let's say I would want to go to study Economics at the University of Barcelona and their "nota de tall" required to be eligible is 8.5 while I could do the same degree at the University of Girona (in a smaller town) with just a 5 (aka minimum passing grade) as the "nota de tall" required, but you do get separate results of each test you make during the Selectividad so in that case, my Selectividad grades would be more important, right?
Anyways, I hope to study in Finland someday, especially from what I've heard (also from you) and seen. The education system here in Spain is "amazing" (I do emphasize the quotation marks) and I do really need a change of scenery. Also, not ending up in a lot of debt is also a benefit (due to the free tuition). Just in case that I don't make it to Aalto, do you have any other university recommendations in Finland (that have Economics programs in English)?
Thank you again and sorry for the huge amount of text (lmao). I am just really curious and doing my research.

Moi Oliver! I am also finishing high School here in Spain (Bachillerato), and was thinking about coursing VALMA first, is there any info you could give us about it. Thanks in advance.

Hey Daniil and thanks so much for the question! Unfortunately i have no prior knowledge or experience on VALMA so i dont feel comfortable commenting on it. This is a completely new concept for me so i would need to look into it quite deep.
I hope you dont mind me asking, what kind of aspirations do you have after finishing high school? Do you have any specific field in mind that you would like to pursue?

@@RoadtoFinnish Hi back, I would like to study something related to business. Frankly, I am still not sure if I should study at the university or a vocational training. I've been looking on this site "Opintopolku" but I don't speak any finnish yet and I would like to study in English, at least at first. I am not sure what option to choose on this site, and I know there is this Valma or some kind of other preparatory year for immigrants, although I have doubts about it on how to apply for it.

Hey Lidiane and thanks for the request! Unfortunately CZcams wont allow me to enable Portuguese subtitles at this point. Ill definitely look into this but i cant promise anything because this is a question of CZcams's own systems.
