  • Hi all, in this video I had my crv all of a sudden started misfiring and it misfired in multiple cylinders. Scared me cause this is was a first it has ever done this to me, especially while the car was driving and in motion too. Luckily I was able to limp it home where I started with the main components for ignition which were spark plugs and coil packs. Thankfully that fixed my issue and along the way, I found out was I was using Fake NGK spark plugs which I went out and got the real ones, but interesting find. Enjoy the video and if this helped anyone. Give it a thumbs up.

    Slight mistake with the sizing, in the video you state that it is a 5/16 socket for the spark plug when it is in fact a 5/8. Just performed this process on my 06 and it helped me tremendously. Thank you for this video!

      I just ordered a 5/8 socket tonight from Amazon so I can do my Honda crv and this really caught my attention. I thought I bought the wrong size. But then realized how small that would be

    Another video said that the spark plug torque was at 13 I believe. it's in the manual if you have it, he did show it from the manual. Also where did you get the real spark plugs vs the fake

    • @projectsbyj25
      @projectsbyj25  Před měsícem

      Real ones from auto store. Fake ones from eBay

    Get a piece of a 3/8" (10mm) rubber hose and use it to place the spark plugs into place. Never drop plugs into the hole since the internal resistor might fail.
    I have done a few of these engines, which notorious for 'baked ring syndrome'. One of the worst Honda engines imo.

    • @projectsbyj25
      @projectsbyj25  Před rokem

      Yes I agree. I just couldn’t find any with the rubber insert. Would’ve saved me time between using a magnet. Forsure will be on the list for my next tool buy.

    So your saying i should remove the fuse for doing the plugs and coils or for doing the compression test? Cant i just replace the plugs and coils without pulling that fuse? (i wont be doing the compression test on mine) Thanks for the help.

    • @projectsbyj25
      @projectsbyj25  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Sorry, good question. That fuse was only remove to do the compression test. I should’ve been more clear in the video. If you are just doing the spark plugs and coil packs, you don’t have to remove that fuse.

    I've been having the same problem with my 03 honda crv. i have codes for all cylinders miss firing and a code for random miss fire, i've tried replacing coil packs and spark plugs ( cheap ones).
    and i'm still having miss fires and idle issue. do you think it's because i used cheap spark plugs? I just don't want to go out and buy those expensive ones and it not work.

    • @projectsbyj25
      @projectsbyj25  Před 2 měsíci

      i would just spend the money on the expensive parts and get it from the auto store. In that case if it doesnt work out, you can always return it to the store and get a refund.

    1 year and 8,000 miles on the old plugs???? You probably got the cheap Chinese knock offs on ebay. You can tell by the photos on the box (fakes have no shadow) and the fakes don't have a number on each plug.

    • @projectsbyj25
      @projectsbyj25  Před 10 měsíci +1
