- In today's video, I'll be opening and reviewing a box of 2023-24 Panini Absolute Football Hobby. These boxes currently sell for $700-750 a box.
Each box contains 3 5-card packs. Expect to find 1 Rookie Premiere Autograph, 2 additional autographs, 2 Relic Cards, 1 Insert, 2 Parallels, and 1 Rookie per box on average. Chase the ultra rare inserts Explosive, Glass, and Kaboom! Look for top rookies such as Bryce Young, Anthong Richardson, CJ Stroud, Bijan Robinson, Sam Laporta, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Will Levis.

One of the Greatest 49ers to play, I have 3 of his Autos (one which I pulled). You got all 3 decent autos and nice rookies as well.
He was a very good player. I thought it was a good box. Others have disagreed.
Competition is healthy for the consumer. We see the prices reflect in the college products. Since both Panini and Topps can make both. I love the Bowman Chrome over the Draft Pick products, not only that but they are cheaper. That and get rid of the exclusivity deals, the better product will garner attention and love from collectors/flippers. Idk if this will solve it, I'm just salty missing out on players like CJ Stroud, Bryce Young, Will Levis, and Victor Wembanyama due to exclusive deals.
Lack of competition via exclusivity is certainly part of a multi-faceted problem. Appreciate your thoughts!

Definitely one of the better boxes that I've seen opened of Absolute. I guess when you pre-order you are speculating on price? Just figured D&A would know what price they would be sold on Panini's site.
There's an SRP price for every product but that went out the window post boom. I think pricing is constantly adjusting to demand even on preorders. Football wax isn't hard to predict. From preorder to release, the price always rises. It doesn't typically nearly double tho.

Amalgamation, had to look that one up. Deep bro and very funny! Hobby is a rich man’s game, I’m sticking to retail. I don’t think the prices can ever be quote on quote reasonable again, because the value of the dollar is growing closer to that of the peso.
Does that make me an educational channel now!? 🤣 I have to imagine at some point box prices either come down to meet singles prices or vice versa. I have to think it's unsustainable in the long run.

I went a bit dengen this month, a box of mosic choice and a full base rainbow 2021 obsidian of Christian mccaffrey bit things are even more expensive in the uk.
Panin need to come up better stuff in packs to comp the Increased price and print more cards , ie tickets for merch , more 1 of 1's unique art cards, and a better online limit of some products.
If you can afford it be as degenerate as you want 😏 I think Panini and Topps should both be making the same product like pre-2016.

@melvinralph8365 From an ROR perspective, yes I consider it a good box. You should try asking for replacements for your redemptions. Panini has been generous recently.

Absolute Football seems to be a Great set but not sure it’s worth the investment!
Absolute is all about the Kaboom chase. It's a Golden Globe trying to sneak into the Oscar's in a Versace dress. It makes sense in my head 🤔

At $700, you could pull a kaboom and still not make the box price back if it's not "the right player".

I’m pretty much at the point that wax is never going to be affordable. Can’t blame the company’s, if people are willing to pay those prices, why would they change just cause I can’t rip but maybe a box or two a year.
A company is always going to maximize their profits no doubt. There is an argument to be made that sports cards are monopolistic and involve some level of price gouging.
As long as the breakers keep buying a shit ton of product nothing is gunna change

It's all a money dump for something we enjoy. I'd never fault anyone for buying into breaks, but they don't much appeal to me. Maybe 2-3 a year.
