HOT BOX ALERT!🚨 New Product: 2023-24 Panini Donruss Optic Basketball Blaster Box Review

- In today's video, I'll be opening and reviewing three of the brand new 2023-24 Panini Donruss Optic Blaster boxes. These blasters sell for $30-35 a box in store and online. Donruss Optic features a 250 card base set consisting of 200 veterans and 50 Rated Rookie cards. Each box contains 6 5-card packs. Expect to find 7 inserts or parallels per box on average. Look for Holo, Purple, and SSP Checkerboard non-numbered cards. Serial parallels to find include Copper Glitter(#'d/99), Red Glitter(#'d/49), and Blue Glitter(#'d/15). Chase Signature and Rookie Signature Autographs that come in Blue(#'d/25) and Checkerboard(1-of-1's) parallels. Insert sets include the returning Splash, My House, Winner Stays, Optical Illusions, White Hot Rookies, Red Hot Rookies, and Express Lane. Insert parallels include non-numbered Holo and Purple alongside numbered with Lime Green(#'d/149) and Gold(#'d/10). Optic highlights the new rookie class of Victor Wembanyama, Scoot Henderson, Brandon Miller, Keyonte George, Jamie Jaquez, and Ausar and Amen Thompson.

🃏🃏 for FUN FACTOR: It's always fun chasing Wemby. Not going to lie, it is getting a bit tired to run after the same player over and over. There's barely enough - and by that I mean realistically pulling a card - in the blasters to make it really fun.
🃏🃏 for VALUE: Optic Holo Rated Rookies are second only to Prizm. Kind of like the beta in a marriage. Hope that's not you. The ceiling is very high here. The caveat is that Optic retail is printed to the moon. They'll be plenty and plenty of dud boxes out there. That's the case with all retail. More so with Optic.
🃏🃏🃏 for DESIGN/FORMAT: Donruss Optic is as reliable, year in and year out, as your hairline. It's simple and clean. The box format for the blasters on paper looks solid. Numbered cards and autographs, check. The lack of a true case hit chase insert hurts.
🃏🃏🃏🃏 for COLLECTABILITY: Who doesn't want a Rated Rookie card of your favorite rookie? Probably someone who doesn't collect cards.

That was a great video. I like the Opic Donruss in football and basketball. Not so much baseball just because of having no logos on the cards. But I will buy a blaster or two of the baseball.
Yea, Panini baseball def doesn't get me excited.
Was able to open 3 of these yesterday, pulled a Malik Beasley auto /25 and a Beauchamp red glitter /75. Like you said before, two parts to hits. Getting the hit, then getting the player lol.
Still got the dart throws that's a plus plus. They put holes in the wall tho 🤣

How these do not have downtowns in the retail product as a case hit is beyond me. That woukd help this retail product a lot. Along with cutting down on the print run by half.
The Phases is the "case hit" at least the comments are telling me that. It's wierd it's not on the side of the box. Can't find any info online about it either.

i would say a checkerboard prizm is a case hit definitely a underrated sp as its an xfractor in topps

I probably got the best or 2nd best box in the case it came out of. Optic retail has never been that good unfortunately.

How far has Klay Thompson fallen!? Putting Chris Paul with Steph Curry on that Optical Illusions card is a huge missed opportunity. They were the Splash Bros. and won four rings! Paul played 60 games, if that. Awesome video and appreciate the recap. I love Optic too and have a poor-decision-amount of Blasters coming next week.
I'd like to think it's tongue in cheek and Paul's the Optical Illusion. That's giving Panini alot of credit. Enjoy the rip. It'll be fun either way. May the hits be plentiful.

I think the Phazes insert is case hit
Had a couple comments saying as much. Wonder why it's not on the side of the box.
This week my walmart hasn't done a restock. I didn't even get a chance to decide to not buy these.
🤣 Maybe they saved you some money. My one walmart doesn't restock until later in the week. They've waited till Saturday before.
I think the overprint will kill some of the value but still think its a cool set to collect for fun.

I don't agree with this years optic being bad like other years because this year there is a case pull. Phazes is a case hit and there is a Wembanyama Phazes!!
I saw Phases but hadn't seen any info on them on any checklist. Didn't know what to make of them. Typically, SSP and case hits are printed on the side of the box. I'd probably bump my rating up to 3/5 if they are case hits. Thanks for the info.

I don’t know what to chase in donruss and donruss optic honestly. auto? We know that panini never put good auto in supermarket retail. Wemby? Thank god they have wemby this year, this year sells a lot better than other years. But they definitely should have ssp in it, even they are just some ssp parallel like honeycomb and genesis
It's all about the Wemby this year. Autos out of retail are generally so bad it's laughable.

As long as you go in knowing it is retail, then you shouldn't be disappointed. Thinking it is going to get you crazy hits will always disappoint you.
True. When I talk about a retail product, I'm talking about it against other retail products. There are great retail products out there. Just doesn't happen often 😒
@@huxbux So true. The price point is pretty revealing on the retail. Select and Prizm are usually pretty good, but you pay more for them.

Agreed. Alot of the inserts look bad unless it's in a prizm.
donruss and optic bkb needs to at least has one ssp in it, like downtown or even some new ssp. Otherwise, they are trash to me.
So I've been told Phases is a case hit in retail this year. It's odd it's not on the side of the box at all. So for the first time basketball retail has a case hit. It's a horizontal design. Dunno how it'll be received but for that I'd bump my rating up to 3/5.
