Wendy Numatic’s First Female Vacuum Cleaner Before Hetty - Unboxing & First Look

I was lucky enough to get my hands on a rare Numatic Wendy in all her green metal bodied glory. I believe Wendy was sold exclusively at Machine Mart in the UK.

I’ve had to change the title of the video as it seems to have confused some people. The Wendy was the first Numatic with a female name followed by Hetty a few years later.

Genuine original period correct hose. Newer wands and head

That machine was made 35th week of 2001 with the first four numbers of the serial number, the floor head isn’t original but the hose is that machine would have came with a floor head you’d see with the machines from them back in the late 80’s early 90’s

Yes Chard is pronounced similar to Charred, got relatives there (including one who used to work for Numatic), being a higher wattage model it would have had the older type of head (one of the metal baseplate ones) and the bent end without a diffuser, all the commercial machines seem to come with the short hose end so I would guess the hose is correct, plus the fact that the machine end has a loose screw fitting shows it's had some use.
And yes the serial denotes 2001 week 35 build date.

We had a similar one in the late 90s. Not named and white in colour I believe was the allergy version. Hose is correct however hose and foot don’t seem to be genuine. Mum used to use the blower end to clear the dried leaves from the porch in the autumn!!

@ 6:19 Two speed switch, eh? There's a Delta 17-925/-990x(X5) drill press, that has a slightly different speed control range selector in the USA, that says low on the bottom, and high on the top at the back of the black rectangular hood, for the various sizes of drill bits, and hole saws, as well.

I saw some pics Wendy with a face when I Googled her. I belive that Becko1987 mentioned in a video, don't remember which one now, that is contacted Numatic's customer service department and the sent him the sitcker decals for one of his restorations.

This Wendy would of came with the same toolkit as Henry did in -the late 90s- 2000, kit A1 which included: 300mm dual pedal (short swivel) floor head, 2m hose with a short cuff, 3 piece stainless steel tubes (the ones in this video are modern day equivalents going off the bent wands suction regulator), and 4 small attachments which Qualtex still make a good copy of. A face kit would have been included in the box. The Permatex filter is original to Wendy but she would of had a microtex filter alongside it.
