      They always list for 30-50% above what the actual price is. Just go to any RV show; they've always got two stickers, one above the other. The "MSRP" at extortion levels, and then the "sale price". You can probably buy this van for 85-90k at any dealership in the States so long as they have them in stock and don't have a line of customers waiting.

    Winnebago should make two models of Solis Pocket, this will be the basic strip model and the other one is the upgraded model with all the that are missing components. The short and compact design of Solis is perfect choice for couple or solo adventure if it is dry camp ready.

      @@BrittMFH No, nothing "luxury," just simple, reliable, well-made and 4-Season. And true 4x4 (vs. AWD), with the ground-clearance to use it properly. But presently, I'm searching for the elusive Unicorn (that doesn't exist).
      Yes, know about Leisure Vans, but they don't make small Class Bs anymore...they're into "B+/Cs" now -- too big for me. Pleasure-Way's (P-W) RVs would be more suitable size-size, but CEO Dean Rumpel has zero interest in REAL innovations: Making off-road/over-landing focused RVs. His stuff is mainly for pavement. Same as it's always been there @ P-W, stuck in the past: He's not very forward-looking OR listening to his potential customers re: what more of us want TODAY vs. the past. Despite his saying how "innovative" P-W is, it really isn't, at least in the ways that COUNT.
      Another option is a truck-camper on a "very serious" 4x4 truck...HAVE truck now but it doesn't have the payload capacity for those campers (WAY heavier than they look) so I'd have to buy the truck and camper separately...and we know new truck prices have gone nowhere but UP lately. WAY up! The only Good News there is the cost of the truck & camper is about the same as (or maybe a little less than) than a Class B, so either solution is similar-price-wise.
      I need to get some things done financially first, but in 3 years I'll be looking to see what the RV industry is making re: Class Bs and truck-campers THEN -- maybe something new will come along that will fit my needs better than the same old/same old out today.

    Ok all naysayers you are missing the point of this RV design. This is an RV made for travelers to get to their main destination who occasionally may want to dry camp over a weekend. For that I applaud Winnebago. Sure, I would love to see an inverter with an under hood Generator system with volt Start but at this price point I can’t complain. I would much rather have this with its 4 season season design over the Thor Scope or Rize. Sure they have a generator but do you see how it is mounted underneath? First speed bump and you will be minus a generator.
    My Wife and I are Travelers and have added the Solis pocket to our list to consider in the near future. Hope a few show up at the 2022 Tampa Show.

    We need one built for solo van lifers. Too many try to cram too many beds inside. Get rid of the dinette. AC required shore power is a deal breaker also. Should include zero breeze AC. RV manufacturers are stuck with component dealers way behind in tech related to full time van life. That's one reason many still choose to build their own. 12 volt chest fridges are much better than stand up micro fridges with useless freezers. No hot water. No microwave. No lithium PO4 batteries. $100k is just laughable for this terrible design.

    Is there a spare tire carrier available that can be purchase from Colonial RV?
    Could you suggest a portable generator that would have the capability to running AC for 3 to four hours to keep pets comfortable while we go on a hike? Is there a generator that could be run from inside the RV vs running outside? Is an inventor feature a good idea to have?

      1. Winnebago offers a 1yr/15,000 mile warranty on the motorhome and Ram offers a 5yr/100,000 mile warranty on their power train.
      2. The Ram chassis does not offer a spare tire. However there are options available to you for adding a spare tire to the rear hitch. Also, Ram offers a great kit to help repair a leak with silicone and an electric pump to help you get to a nearby dealer for repairs.
      3. If you wanted to run the roof A/C you can consider any portable generator ( such as a Honda 2000,etc.) This would be an exterior use only generator and we are not familiar with any generators that can be run from the inside( sorry). If you are looking for a Solis with a generator maybe you can consider the Solis 59P model
      4. The Solis pocket does not come with an inverter supplied by Winnebago. However, we have a full service dept. that can assist with adding one if you choose.
      Thank you very much for your time, any further questions please let us know.

    3) No shower
    4) Propane heat, yesterday's technology, as opposed to a dry heat Webasto heat system.
    5) AGM battery system?? Again yesterday's technology. Highly inefficient as opposed to a lite weight, quick charging lithium battery system.
    6) No microwave.
    7) Day bed is much too short. It should be a minimum of 6 ft. It also doesn't look too comfortable.
    I could build a better out a much better camper with hot water, dry heat, and quick charging lithium for half the price. This is a design failure by Winnebago. They need to get a new designer. What's with the doggie gate? This design is short on comfort and long on cheap.

    • @ColonialRV
      @ColonialRV  Před 2 lety +2

      The Solis Pocket is designed as a low priced camper van. If you want the features such as lithium, hot water, and microwave, the Winnebago Travato is a better option.

      A brand new Promaster 1500 high roof van is ~$40k, alone! For someone without the means to DIY build, this should go for $75-80k, and is a pretty good starting point.

      This meets all our needs. More space for storage is just what we've been waiting for. For our purposes a microwave, hot water, shower. generator, etc, are excessive. If those were needed we'd have bought something else. Love this unit.

    Do you have the measurement from the front console to the back door? Need to see if this could be used to carry long skinny items. Van could be used as a daily driver/work truck as well. A long ladder for work, or kayaks (cushioned to protect the cabinets etc.)

    Great job on the video. Had to subscribe. Now, about the camper. I'm a single camper and l want the kind of rig that's designed for ONE person - that's compact - but still has an upscale feel. This doesn't have hot water and the bathroom is a bowl in a box. Yikes. That's the lifestyle of a long haul trucker.

    • @ColonialRV
      @ColonialRV  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching! RVs are built on commercial/work chassis. The Exhaust pipe is not placed on the passenger side because the sliding door entry is there. They don’t put it out the back because the rear doors open and if someone is working and getting tools, or camping, they would be breathing in the fumes.

    I don’t care for the bathroom in the units. I’m glad it doesn’t come with one. Bathrooms take up too much real estate. Also I like that all the hookups are inside the unit rather than outside under flaps and screw caps, giving it more of a stealth look. I wonder if I could get the rear ac removed and install a rear fan instead?

    What a shame. This is the perfect size that so many people want. No hot water-no proper toilet-no shower. Even the van lifers have figured all this out with custom builds. You would think Winnebago could figure it out. It’s a no go due to those oversights. The cheap plastic toilet is offensive in this price range. No hot water is inexplicable.
