I really enjoyed your floss tube. My husband worked away from home too. He was a captain on a tow boat pushing barges in the major rivers in the U.S. He passed in Dec 2021. I'm still trying to deal with that. I live in NW Fl where it's been hotter than blazes here too. We finally got a bit of rain but it didn't cool things down. I started cross stitching in the 80's until the early 2000 then I stopped. After my husband passed I picked it up again and WOW had things changed in the cross stitch world. I only stitch on 14 count and smaller chart because of my eyes.
Awww, thank you Joy! There are only a few places hotter than Texas and Florida is one of them! Oh the heat. I’m so sorry to hear about your loss. I know you’ll never stop grieving him, but I’m happy you found cross stitch again. It’s a great way to keep yourself occupied and the cross stitch community is full of fun and amazing women. 💕

I live in St. Louis, and my ears really perked up when you said your favorite Floss and Fabric is from Colour and Cotton. They opened their new brick and mortar shop just a few months ago, and it is just less than 10 minutes from our home!!! I LOVE the store…so cute, and the owners, Lauren and Angela, are SO VERY SWEET,and are mother and daughter. St Louis had lost all of their xstitch stores, so now I feel so very spoiled!!! Nice fabrics, WIPs, I stitched that Bent Creek "Be Thankful" it was a fun stitch. Love the SWTH charts. Neat Colour & Cotton floss. I use a metal ring for my floss skeins or floss drops & attach that to my ribbon inside my thread bed Pals (DotDotGooseDesign), I love to have them with a matching project bag. Good Job Ladies on your first flosstube appearance. 😉

I am DYING to go to a stitching retreat. I will graduate in May 2024 and am looking for a retreat after that. Y'all make it sound like so much fun and I feel like I just need to experience it at least once! Glad I found y'all!

Great first FlossTube!!
I agree about the WDW tags, so I lay their tag on top of a homemade floss drop and tie the floss through both holes. For me, the cutting is easy enough. I just clip the loops. I know some who take the floss off and cut certain lengths but I guess I’m happy with the length I get when I clip the looped ends. I’ve never stitched with C&C but they do have some pretty flosses!

Love that you are in love with Colour and Cotton. Not bragging much, but it’s my LNS! The St Louis area lost all our LNS’s over the years and when they opened their brick and mortar I was over the moon! The owners are awesome and they have started 2 x a month sit and stitch. I am a happy girl. Started xstitching in the late 80’s (much older than you two) put it away for years and started quilting, then picked it up again in 2019. Crazy since then! I quilt during the day, xstitch in the evening, been retired from nursing.since 2015.
You lucky girl!!! Brag away! I’m so glad you can go to their stitch nights! That sounds so fun! Quilt all day, cross stitch all night, sounds like retirement done right Jeanne!
