    I kept having the scaling issue when import my scan from the Revo Range Scanner to blender. It was always huge but your tip helped me get it back to real world scale! Thank you for the great video!

    So, some feedback on this that I'm sure you've probably found out by now. More frames = actually worse these days. The pop3 is really good at capturing everything it sees on the first shot, the problem is, it has a habit of hallucinating, especially in feature tracking mode, and you'll often end up with some fractal looking mesh that are effectively unusable.

    this thing absolutely needs a linux version of the software! did throw me out at not even 2 minutes of the video already...
    but still very interesting. I didn't know such make glas matte sprays that disappear even exist :)

      This was so interesting and well done. Pointing out all the ins and outs that I might not think about was much appreciated. It was refreshing to see a reviewer actually be honest about the product so that a buyer is prepared for any contingency. All in all a very nice printer. Thanks!

    Great review thanks. I was looking at the Pop3 a while ago but the problems with the materials stopped me buying one.

    • @chrisprenn
      @chrisprenn  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yeah, that's why I needed to specifically talk about these things and show examples. Everybody needs to know before buying a 3D scanner. BUT even so, I really like the scanner and the possibilities it gives me without photogrammetry and I will - as soon as I can get my hands on it - buy one of those expensive cans of 3d scanning spray and try that out.

    Oops to me, too. I inadvertently wrote the word printer instead of scanner. 😊

    Hello Chris, I enjoying this video. I have a very specific task. I'm certain it can be done with the Revo POP 3. I want to create tool inserts for a tool box. I have the tools layed out and they have been scanned without incident but when I flip the scanned tool objects around its just dark (on computer screen). Do you have a vid on how to accomplish this?

    • @chrisprenn
      @chrisprenn  Před 4 měsíci

      Maybe just use the scan as a template to model the tool shapes (eg in fusion 360) The cool thing about these scans is that they have perfect real world dimensions but the point clouds and tri-based meshes are not great for building upon. Yeah so I would take the 3d scan mesh, import it into f360 and sketch based on that...

    Ooops, I called it "ice bear" (cuz in German it's Eisbär) instead of polar bear 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂ ... oh well, I guess you know what I am talking about 😁

    Hello,
    Very good video. I have just one question, is the pop3 good for children and adult faces? I'm looking for a scanner just for my children's faces for resin printers

    • @chrisprenn
      @chrisprenn  Před 2 měsíci

      Yes, the Pop3 is probably the best solution from the Revopoint lineup for scanning faces 👍🏻
      As shown in my Range2 video: Make sure you have even lighting on the face!
