In this edition of #thedailydoug, I'm returning to the music of Dimash with his song Ave Maria. I first heard Dimash sing back in December, and I was once again amazed by his vocal talent. Come along for the ride as I break down this piece and admire this great musicianship!

Two weeks prior to this, Dimash called Maestro Krutoy and asked him to compose
an Ave Maria as a vocalization.
Dimash is a Muslim so not into a Hail Mary words composition, just the music.
Igor said it unsettled him momentarily but spoke that he could do it, went to his piano and two weeks later. Voila!
Igor is an older, phenomenally wealthy Russian Jew so the dynamics between him and Dimash are as complex as the music they produce together.
This was written by Igor Krutoy at the request of Dimash. I believe it is a vocalize because Dimash did not want it seen as a Christian song. He loves and respects his audience and Dears and he wanted this to be accessible to all, regardless of faith tradition. He believes music has no borders or boundaries.

Dimash wanted a prayer for the world, so he called up Igor Krutoy and this is the magic they made. A Christian hymn, composed by a Jewish man, and sung by a Muslim man. Truly, a prayer for the world.
This version of “Ave Maria” is a variation adapted to Dimash's voice in order to explore only the three opening notes and changing the fourth note to a higher note.
At the end, the advanced vocal technique:“Messa di Voce “ (from Italian Bel Canto technique) at the last note sustained 15 seconds on the note C6 . Swell, increase and decrease the volume but don’t change the pitch, it is extremely difficult and only pro vocalists with years of training can do it.Messa di Voce

dimash named the world's greatest singer by his peers
Two recent Dimash performances definitely worth reviewing are him singing with Placido Domingo and him performing his own song Omir with his brother. Then for another totally different level of his range, Olympico.
I found out about Dimash in the fall 2023... complete fluke that I found him on YT. Actually it was Justin Hawkins who did a reaction to Dimash S.O.S and I was floored... tears just coming down my face... i was a fan imediately and now I want to hear more. Dimash is a singer for the ages....

Dimash is just great, isn't he? He manages to lift people to heaven with just one vowel. He leaves me speechless every time I hear this song. And I love it when the drums come in. It's so unique. Igor Krutoy (the gentleman at the piano) composed this version of the Ave Maria at Dimash's request.
Usually, Ave Maria is a prayer to the Holy Virgin Mary. In this case, however, it is a prayer for all people, no matter what religion they belong to.
Besides that Dimash is a Muslim and Igor Kurtoy, who often accompanies him on the piano, is Jewish. That is why this Ave Maria has no lyrics, since it is not only sung for Christians.
He sang this song on the New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international contest for young performers founded by Igor Krutoy in 2002. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury.
Igor Krutoy is a famous Russian-Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range (no kidding), like Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You'll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him. The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It's more of a father-son relationship.

This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favorite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯

Thank you. Dimash asked Igor Krutoy to compose a new 'Ave Maria' just for him. He sings only the 'Ah' vowel throughout. This is gorgeous and heavenly. I really appreciate your sharing your knowledge of music with us. I don't know who else could sound so beautiful as Dimash. :)

I have to admit that I'm frequently grateful to just be an average music listener that I can just sit back and enjoy the beauty of Dimash's performances without an overwhelming need to discover what key he's in or what note he's singing to distract me from the aural experience.

Dimash's newest song, When I've Got You, is his first R&B/Jazz/Soul Performance and he nailed it. The official video of it is coming out on his official channel on Feb. 26th. Don't miss his awesome masterpiece, Story of One Sky, a music video which he wrote, composed and sang.As a composer yourself, you will appreciate two of several of his compositions, Unforgettable Day written when he was only 19, and his unique , amazing performance of El Amor En Ti, his first composition in Spanish. I feel remiss not listing every one of his songs. Each is a thrilling, mesmerizing experience. His versatility is incredible as well as his voice range. I listen to Dimash every day as often as I can. You also will want to listen to his duet with Placido Domingo performed as part of the Virtuoso Event in Budapest recently. It is gorgeous.

A version of a Christian standard written by a Russian Jew and sung by a Muslim man proving you don't need words to create a spiritual experience that transcends religious boundaries. This is as close as we will hear on earth what the angels in heaven sound like. If you don't believe in heaven, this is what you'll be missing. :) I've told my daughter I want this video played at my funeral when the time comes. Absolutely beautiful. You should react to some of Dimash’s own compositions, my favourites are El Amor En Ti (Dimash’s Amalty concert 2022, shows his beautiful lower registers (as well as his higher!)), The Story of One Sky (Live also at his Amalty concert 2022), Omir (Dimash wrote the music and the lyrics (Live performance released a few days ago (Feb 2024) with Dimash’s 17 year old brother on Acoustic guitar and Dimash on Vocals and Keyboard)

Actually it is a collaberation of Dimash and Igor Krutoy, igir came out of retirement especisllybto work with Dimash's voice. Dimssh phoned Igor one evening saying he wanted to donhis versuon of ave maria. They spent time discussing n sharing their ideas. Hving cum to a consensus igor set to n followed upmon the discussion. So this is their collaboration.

I heard another classical music fan watching this video say that the melody is similar to the Caccini version of Ave Maria. Whatever that means. I'm just mesmerized by the whole thing.
You have to react to Placido Domingo and Dimash singing pearl fisherman. You will see that Dimash could be one of the best Tenors in the world, if that was what he wanted to do.

Notice at the beginning when Dimash is getting ready to sing you hear the heartbeat slowing down before stopping then Dimash sings its like the passing of life to be greeted by the angels. To me this is the closest you will get to heaven without going there. Even though this isn't the Catholic Prayer version it still gets the message across beautifully

Apparently, people have been educating or writing to you for a while or even "riding" you here.😊. The most difficult thing is to pick your next one. Based on your list and who you are, it's Stranger or Olympico that will drop that jaw again of yours pretty easily, if that's what you want. Then they're sagas and tributes and such a variety from Dimash that it's hard to recommend to have you catch up with The GOAT and his goosebumping jaw-dropping performances.
For his beautiful deep baritone listen to Olympico written for him by Igor, or El Amor En Ti at the Almati concert, written by Dimash. There are as many as 70 increcible performancesin all his many voices, in 15 languages. For many of us noone is worth listening to but Dimash.

Besides being a singer, Dimash is also a composer. He just released a piece he wrote, “Omir”, in which he plays the piano and sings while his brother accompanies him on the guitar. Very interesting and different chord progressions, as a composer you will enjoy..

If you listen again, you'll hear that A flat note, just prior to his coming in. It's subtle. That said, he has perfect pitch so he just intuits it. Dimash, the best person and singer in the world. ❤
Even though Dimash has been singing since the age of five, last year I saw a short video of him with a vocal coach, working to make sure his technique for the last two notes was perfect.

This is a stunning performance and even better heard ‘live’ in concert. Suggest ‘Olimpico’ (written by Igor Krutoy & on his CZcams channel - Arnau) as Dimash won the prestigious Victoria award for classical voice for this. Also he’s recently sung a new duet of ‘Pearl Fishers’ with Placido Domingo.

To put it in context:
He sings lower than bass in Opera. The lowest note is usually C2....and higher longer sustained whistle note.
Total Dimash range is G0-D8. By the way, a D8 is a couple of keys past the high end of a piano. And, I believe his Vocal Fry is off the low end of the keyboard.
If they don't watch a Dimash performance, many people think that there are two or three other people on stage singing different parts of the same song. Leave it to Dimash to develop a way to make that come true:
