@@josephheissler9424 , Based on the outpouring of sympathy and grief from both those who knew and worked with him and those who were merely fans, I'd say you're 100% correct. Lindley loved doing what he did and he gave of himself unselfishly. Numerous fans write about meeting him at gigs and having a nice chat, and everyone says that he was gracious in spirit and generous with his time. That was my experience when I met him.
Mglaser 100% agreed. Not many people even think about instrumentalists. Slide players. David’s ability was great. But his mind; to be able to phrase; just awesome to me. How he spoke with emotions to seal the lyrics that Jackson Browne sang.... On For Everyman, Late for the Sky, the Pretender albums Especially the song “ Late For the Sky”. Absolutely beautiful and thoughtful playing. A spiritual experience. He’d string notes, like stacking blocks in a Jenga game. Only some lead guitarists and slide players know who David Lindley is. I don’t see any body coming up that even TRIES to phrase at all I would have liked to interview him. I think he knew himself so Music Theory.... Thanks for acknowledging him
Lindley never got the fame and valuation he deserved. One of the geniouses of rock.
He didn’t care. He gave it all to the music
