  • Liam Lawson has sent a fierce warning to Daniel Ricciardo that just because he is not in an F1 seat at the moment, it doesn’t mean he will be waiting for a long time in the shadows. While many believed that Ricciardo has what it takes to turn the fortunes of the newly-reformed team of Racing Bulls, the first two races proved otherwise, and Lawson made sure to remind everyone that the 5-race stint he had last year won’t go in vain. But will Red Bull actually pull the plug on Ricciardo, knowing his long-term plans, and more importantly - will this be the end of his career, as judged by a former F1 champion?

Daniel is too far gone. His brand keeps him in F1, not his driving.

I agree...Riciardo is always the larrikin which underpins his brand. That only carries you so far, he needs a top 5 in the next few races to take the pressure off him, but I don't see that realistically happening. Lawson is unproven and is just talking up his game which puts him in team principals minds, but guarantees him nothing. The future in F1 looks fascinating over the next 2 months. Certainly will be entertaining 😉

I've listened closely to a few Lawson interviews lately and he keeps saying his main priority for the year is his reserve role and getting back into that RB team as he wants to be in a Red Bull himself some day. I suspect if they mess him around and don't offer him something for next year he will be open to looking elsewhere. Williams might be an option.
Lawson in my estimatation is better than the last few academy drivers, I include Gasly, Albon and Tsunoda in that list. They're doing him no favours by constantly delaying him.

Yea Daniel just isn't consistent enough. He's passed his prime. Yuki and Liam will do a better job.

    Liam > Yuki > Ricciardo

Two races in and a few disappointing from the outside drives from Daniel and suddenly he has lost it. Given Daniel's experience and ability to work with the the engineering team to get the most out of the car performance wise. I think you'll find Yuki has the best known set up and Daniel is working on extracting the true potential of the car. Lets see where they are in the next couple of races. I love to see Liam in the RB, and thought he'd shown he is deserving of a seat there after his performance. I honestly thought it would be Liam and Daniel this year. Alan Jones is an ass check his history the guy has never had a good thing to say about a single Australian driver ever.

Daniel had his chance at Renault, he had #1 driver and the opportunity to develop the car for himself, he blew it with the McLaren move which I don’t blame him for taking, but it wasn’t a move up in reality, it was sideways.

Daniel is done for he had his chances and the time has passed he was asked to step up to the mark and he keeps telling everyone he can do it but in reality he cant time to walk away and take up being in the commentary team

I hope Dani finds his mojo again. He can drive but is probably standing in his own way. There's no room for that in F1.
