Torquay, Paignton , and Brixham were the places I knew better than where I lived , I'm 61 and my parents took me to Torquay for our summer holidays.
Model Village, Daddyhole plain, Kents cavern, meadfoot beach are places I still remember like it was yesterday.
    Great places and great times.

Torquay = Tor-Key so those Quays you mentioned are also pronounced Keys not Kways as in Quale’s eggs

I looked this up and I find no record of Agatha Christie actually living at Torre Abbey. She was born in Torquay in 1890 and Christened in All Saints Church in what is now the area of Torre, and lived in a Victorian Mansion called Ashfield on the outskirts of Torquay. She met her first husband Archibald Christie at a dance held at Ugbrooke House in 1912 and spent her honeymoon at the Grand Hotel on the Torquay Sea Front. She worked as a nurse during the First World War and also worked as an assistant Pharmacist. There is a record of her staying temporarily at the Moorland Hotel on Dartmoor in 1916 where she took a two-week break to finish one of her novels. In 1934 she moved to Winterbrook House in Chelsea but her heart was set in Torquay and in 1938 she purchased her residence on the Greenway Estate which she used as a regular summer residence. She passed away peacefully at her home in Winterbrook House in Chelsea in 1976. This information is sourced directly from both Wikipedia AND the Agatha Christie website where you can read all of this information in full.
