Torquay, close to Paignton and Brixham, is a jewel in the crown of the English Riviera with everything you need for a great seaside holiday. Torquay is a popular Devon seaside holiday destination for many reasons from the beach to the boat trips.
Boasting a beautiful coastline with sheltered bays and sandy beaches, Torquay is perfect for relaxation, paddling, swimming, and water sports. Families will love the safe and shallow waters of Meadfoot Beach, while adventurers can try out kayaking, sailing, or even jet skiing at Torquay Harbour.
Thanks to its sheltered location and the warming influence of the Gulf Stream, Torquay enjoys a generally mild climate, making it a great destination year-round. Spring and summer are ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities.
Torquay is a haven for families. The abundance of beaches provides endless opportunities for sandcastle building, paddling, and rock pooling. Kids will also love the amusement parks, like the Living Coasts coastal zoo, and the Babbacombe Model Village
Steeped in history, Torquay boasts a wealth of cultural attractions. Explore the historic Torre Abbey, a 12th-century monastery with beautiful gardens showcasing plants mentioned in Agatha Christie's novels. Delve into the region's maritime heritage at the Torquay Museum, or visit the Agatha Christie Birthplace, where the Queen of Crime spent her early years and draw inspiration for her detective stories.
Torquay's lively town center offers something for everyone. Stroll along the picturesque harborside lined with shops, cafes, restaurants, and traditional pubs serving delicious Devonshire cream teas. Explore the bustling harbor and watch the boats come and go, or take a boat trip along the coast for stunning views.
Throughout the year, Torquay hosts a variety of events and festivals, catering to all interests. The annual Agatha Christie Festival is a highlight for crime fiction enthusiasts, with dramatizations, talks, and exhibitions celebrating her work.
Torquay is a gateway to stunning natural beauty. Explore the rugged limestone cliffs of Torquay seafront or take a scenic walk along the South West Coast Path, offering breathtaking coastal views. Venture further afield to Dartmoor National Park, a vast area of granite moorland with hiking trails.
Torquay's location makes it a perfect base for exploring the wider English Riviera. Visit the neighboring towns of Paignton and Brixham, known for their beaches, harbours, and fresh seafood restaurants. Explore the picturesque villages of Devon or take a day trip to Exeter, the historic capital of Devon boasting a magnificent cathedral and Roman walls.

Encounter marine life from around the world at Living Coasts, a coastal zoo showcasing penguins, sharks, otters, and much more. Walk through underwater tunnels to observe marine creatures in their recreated habitats and learn about conservation efforts.
Step into a miniature world at the Babbacombe Model Village, featuring over 400 miniature buildings depicting iconic landmarks from around the world, including Buckingham Palace, the Eiffel Tower, and even the Tower of London. @@GimbalWalkTVI live in Wellswood just up the road 5 minutes walk to the harbour and town centre
Great weather. When did you film this.
Just the other week!
Went to school and lived in Torquay for 20 years. Cockington is nice, Babbacombe was my favourite spot, you have the Model Village, the cliff railway and the scenery to die for. Love the video, brings back memories, proper job 👌👌
I'm just reading your comment whilst sat in Cockington in the pub garden!
@@GimbalWalkTV sounds like a good idea to me 🍺
Torquay military museum was sold months ago and is now permanently closed my friend owned it, he sold everything to a private collector/company
Ah no!!
@@GimbalWalkTV alas it was it was owned by Charlie Bronsons son George. It was a brilliant museum so much to see
If you concentrated on the negatives of a town etc, no one would bother looking at your wonderful videos. It's everywhere. Looking at Gimbal Walks makes me happy and positive that life will be better. Torquay looks like a nice place. Lots to do there. Gardens and ⛵ seaside and big wheels. I was hoping to see Faulty but never mind 😉
I'll always do positive - life is too short for the negative stuff isn't it!
@@GimbalWalkTV Agree 💯
Don’t get the negativity of the locals in Torquay. They only have the same issues as most other UK towns these days but it’s such a beautiful place. My children love it and hopefully we are going to relocate our family to there one day.
I’d even go as far to say that it’s probably my most favourite place in the entire country.
Agreed the local issues are the same everywhere else
Well im glad i watched this. I dont like doing places down, but its a nightmare there. That roadworks system is diabolical & def a no go area for disabled people. 😢😢😢😢😢
You should have just filmed the last 10 mins!!!
I will most certainly NOT be visiting Torbay. I could not get around there. Thank you. Shame as I was looking forward to seeing it. Sad to say that I gave up before the end😢
It's not too bad - the roadworks can be avoided and it's nearly all flat thankfully (my bad knee can testiry it's easy to navigate!)
That was really lovely thank you
❤️❤️
