Two things: 1.) I believe you *can* speed up time while walking around as a Kerbal, it’s just not recommended since higher time warps have a slight chance to make the physics engine wig out a little and the next thing you know, the Kerbal trips and instantly scatters into a thin mist because the engine thought he impacted the ground at 100 meters a second. Plus, it’d still take a long-ass time to get anywhere even with the time warp. 2.) While I haven’t watched the next two videos in a little bit and thus can’t remember exactly whether or not the mass probe launch screwed him over; I find it unlikely that it would. The thing that people forget is that space is fucking HUGE and at the end of the day any sort of rocket or probe or whatever else we send up there is a very small object in that unfathomably big, empty void. Despite the number of probes he released and the somewhat scaled down nature of the Kerbolar system compared to real life, there’s still going to be tens if not hundreds of kilometers of empty space between any of those probes that a rocket could fit through without any trouble. Plus, maneuvering to change your trajectory if a collision does become a possibility is always an option.
Q17:26 yeah kerbals only move at a little over about 1m/s. So 19km is basically 19000 seconds or just over 5 hours of running. I once made a similar mistake. Just macrod the walk button and went to sleep 😂 However i think he probably just used movement cheats.
It may be a bit of a meme series, but Martin did a fantastic job of explaining the mechanics involved in playing this game, it's something anyone making KSP videos needs to keep in mind, orbital mechanics are weird and counter-intuitive, and it's easy to overwhelm a viewer by going too fast. He explains things piece by piece, buiding up understanding over time, really great videos, I'm still hype for part 4!
You probably won't see this message because i am 3 month late, but for 13:33 my personal trick is to make my spacecraft rotate. not even fast but just enough that the ejected reactors get a tad farther away thanks to centrifugal force. Also! When using the lab, you need to send the science report, which consume electricity... and you can't send it in multiple times. So if the energy necessary to send the science exceed your total energy capacity on board, you end up stuck with 10k science points that can't be used....
It can't be that hard to learn, I mean it's not rocket science... oh wait, so okay it is rocket science, but it's not exactly astrophysics... um, er, okay so at least it's not quantum mechanics. Except when it is.
If I may suggest something to watch. Vinny from Vinesauce has a hilarious Series of Highlight Videos of his Game Corruption Streams. Corruption Stockpile 36 especially had me dying.
If you want to see fun ksp missions and actually see and hear what does what in the rocket, you should watch Matt Lowne He has less of a comedic editing style but he makes up for it with some enjoyable gameplay. As a side note, furthest I ever got was a single landing on every major planet (no moons) and a couple space stations in stock ksp, as well as a Mars space station on the RSS mod. Current occupation: 7 dead kerbals because 7 kerbals eat a LOT and a trip to Mars takes between 6 months and 2 years if you plan it wrong... yeah
