I’m very happy for you. “Hold on loosely to the things of this world…” We did a very similar thing when my parents needed extra help. God provided a beautiful center hall colonial with a downstairs master bedroom with a sitting area. We easily added a kitchenette so they could have their own breakfast and lunch, and we shared our supper meals together. It worked out beautifully! We loved having them with us!! My precious daddy passed away Jan 2017 and my mom July 2018. We miss them both so much! It was the hardest, but the most beautiful time of our lives! Caring for our parents is one of the most rewarding thing you can do. Bravo, for honoring your mother and father! Blessings! 🙏🏼❤️

I too went through the same with my parents. I thank God for the time we spent together,where I could do for them what they had always done for me. God is so good and we are blessed.
i knew that was what you were going to say!! i know you loved the location of that house , close to the downtown for the kids and the big yard and it’s really come to together so nicely. But Knorpps thrive on change. I remember feeling bad for the little kids when you left the house in Utah where they played every day with the neighbor kid on the trampoline and how sad they were to movie away and lose their friend. But the kids adapted and grew and are fine. Change is good, years ago Mike said travel was good bc it teaches you resilience, to be comfortable with being uncomfortable and that really hit home with me. Your kids are better people bc you aren’t afraid to change plans. good luck! and i’ll be watching as you rush to get it all done. it’ll be great. just like the night Mike finished the kitchen sink as you were leaving to catch a plane. Having a deadline seems to help move the projects along. :)
I was like the only shocking thing would be they are moving. But ive been here from the beginning and it's not shocking at all😂. I honestly thought that by the time Megan got the house how she wanted, she would be ready to move on to a new adventure.❤

This doesn't surprise me and yet I know Mike poured heart, sweat and tears into this home. I think when Mike asks for energy he shows just how tired he still is learning something new under time pressure is difficult and overwhelmibg. Megan I understand your enthusiasm and can only wish all the Knorpp the best. Please understand Mike does the bulk of the heavy lifting and trying to learn new skills at the same time. He reminds me of my husband who worked very hard but left me a widow and my 5 children without their Dad with a fatal heart attack working too hard.

I have to further support this comment. Whoever buys it will get the opportunity to finish the kitchen and any other internal items. I've seen so many people remodel a kitchen to sell the house only for the new buyers to rip everything out.
Paint the wild green color and just go simple in the kitchen.
We didn't finish everything when we moved almost 2 years ago. Maybe we could have made more money if we would have replaced the living room carpet but we sold fairly quickly and didn't really finish any projects.

With this announcement you will have it sold before you finish. I love your little cottage.
As we finished the renovation on our house in Warsaw and were hanging some art, I told my husband we were moving to Spain. My husband took a bit of time to understand my reasons. 6 months later, we were in a rental in Spain with our things in the storage unit. For a number of reasons, it was the right move for us. Our kids were great helpers in the packing. (It was my 34th move in 63 years, so the family was not totally surprised) Sometimes, when the wind blows in a certain direction, you know it's just time to move.
This must be such a sigh of relief for your parents :) To know they will be cared for when they need it most .
I feel like my response should be “😮” but with being around since the RV reno, I’m just like “ohhh! Where to?” 😊

My parents and my family did the exact same thing. It was the most special and spiritual growing time in my life. No regrets at all. God blessed us in so many ways. You will bless your parents in the most profound way. It’s a lot to adjust to but worth it. Prayers for the energy to finish your beautiful home and finding that special place for all of you. 💕

Perhaps you can find a place that has a separate In Law Suite, attached. That way your parents will still have their own space and privacy.

I live in Amish country here in WI. Our friends had a dairy farm and had just put in a new kitchen. The husband died and the wife put the house up for sale. Right away a Amish couple wanted the house, but, had plans to rip the kitchen out. The wife thought " No Way" She refused to sell. Her family told her she had to move on w/her life. She could not keep the house just b/c of a kitchen. So she realized that was true and it was holding her back. So she did sale and moved on. Your house is just that, but, your family is your home, no matter where you live.
I’m so encouraged that the main reason for u shifting is because u want to look after your parents. It’s a very big thing here in Asia, the kids live with parents and later in life the parents live with the kids, it’s what we call filial piety - so parents are always looked out for in their golden years. Kudos!! God bless the family as u make this shift!!

I’m very interested to watch this process for you. We are looking at moving in 4 years & may have parents moving in with us as well. We also are looking at the timeline and wondering if it may get bumped up by health concerns changing shape.

1) I think this sounds like the right plan for you, close to your kids as they settle into their adult lives and creating somewhere that will suit your parents too
2) sounds great for me too as a viewer, the decorating and renovating videos are my favourite and it sounds like there will be lots of those to come!

Moving your storage space will be major. You have so much in there. I’ve never lived in Virginia but I have liked the idea of it for a long time. My family vacationed in Virginia Beach for some years. I loved the area.

I'm 63, my husband is 75. We're still moving all over the place!!! We've had two farms, lived in 55 and over communities, neighborhoods, took care of of parents who lived with us on the farm, and still like to move. :) I'm looking forward to watching your new adventure!

We did the same thing, sold the house we poured ourselves Into and had built perfectly for us and moved interstate where having a granny flat was less regulated. My hubbys mothers health changed dramatically and suddenly. We spent the past year setting them up in a cosy new flat and have not even began on the fixer upper we’re in . But it’s a process, and eventually we will get there. It’s hard to make the call and set the decision. And the process can get messy and stressful. But the change and adventure forces us all growth and adaptions
OMG! I'm so excited! It is really brilliant because you can consolidate so many expenses, the storage building, your parent's home and all those expenses, the older children's rents and expenses living in Virginia....and maybe sell that RV. Mike, just a thought, you were thinking of building the kitchen cabinets from scratch but now that it doesn't have to be forever home quality you can get pre-made cabinets from the Re-Store (or FB marketplace). Just keep going to the Re-store until you find a good set. That will save you so much time and stress. You had to be dreading the handmade cabinet process. I can't wait to see what comes next for y'all! ❤ P.S. please do the Virginia Vlog.
Makes a lots of sense ! What matters is that you have each other. Like you said , it's just a house. You can make home anywhere, is long you are together. Also helping your parents is very honorable . God will help you in every step.

When it comes to a buyer's ability to get loans, you really need rooms to be finished. Selling a home "as is" you will lose SO much money on the sale. It's a terrible idea IMO.

My response is: GOD BLESS THE KNORPPS - Wanna hear an odd thing? I saw that you had a new video out, clicked on it then paused as I went to get a cup of coffee. While doing so, I was kind of laughing to myself thinking WHY do I care about this family I don't even know? Wondering is there value here? Am I living in a fantasy world? LOL. Then I turned on the video & it was as if my concerns were answered. Odd. What I saw was genuine people feeling awkward about telling their viewers the path your life had just taken. And I realized, THEY'RE thinking the same thing as I! Too funny. Obviously you're aware that it's YOUR life, you can do whatever you want But you still felt this responsibility to viewers who you don't even know, but you wanted to express that you are genuine people (which I knew already!) and that your channel isn't just a money making scheme. (Not that's there's anything wrong with being compensated for the time/effort/care you put into it!) . So while your viewers CAN be pesky at at times ( I do believe I was among the commenters who, um, called you out on that living room "RUG" choice..LOL) I also know that 99.9% of your viewers watch because of who you are as people. I learn from watching your life lessons I can apply to my own life. No one's perfect, not me, not anyone. That being said, you and your family are, oh how do I say this, caring/responsible people who engage in life and do so in a positive curious can-do manner. And yes, ya'll are funny. Sorry to hear about your parents health concerns and I know all will be fine because loving support and focus on the important things in life is what it's all about. HOUSE TIP: I immediately thought that, I think the kids' bedrooms might be painted in, shall we say "strong" colors? LOL. How funny. I haven't been watching your channel lately but just this morning thought "I wonder how the Knorpps are doing?" and the first thing I see is this video. Last time I checked in I do remember thinking that little house seemed too little. Of course in a few years' time all the older kids will have flown the nest, however these days in our experience they do have a habit of coming back like boomerangs! Virginia sounded familiar and I just remembered I have relatives who moved there from the UK decades ago.

I love the way you both, just fly by the seat of your pants, and things do work out for you. We have stuff packed from 3 moves ago, and are trying to get this place renovated, but we are getting up there in yrs and it's not as easy as it would have been even 10 yrs ago. I'm 😮 I'm feeling a range of emotions about this one. Like your dream home and you haven't fully gotten to enjoy it. Now I feel so bad Mike working tirelessly through the nights to make your dreams come true and I feel like it was for nothing. I get it family first but this hurt the most.

I’ve been expecting it. I didn’t think that house was gonna work anyway but I’ve enjoyed everything you’ve done to all of your houses and your moves. My husband and I moved 13 times but the family survive very well getting excited for you
Aloha, Your doing the right thing for your children and parents. My husband and I took care of his parents, it was the best thing for all of us. Especially having take care of parents who have health challenges. My husband's Father has now passed, but it was great we had a chance with him. You two worked really hard on your place, but I am happy for your new journey, Virginia sounds wonderful.

I totally understand. My mom had dementia and later Alzheimer’s. She couldn’t care for herself so I moved her in with us, and cared for her until the disease got considerably worse. She passed a year or two later, but I’ll never regret taking care of my mom when she needed cared for. I’ll keep you all in my prayers.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻😊♥️

I wasn’t surprised because I’ve come to know that this is just the Knorpps . God will be with you in all . This season is in a very interesting place we are right there with you. We have one daughter that’s a junior in college , one daughter getting married this fall to her childhood sweetheart ( still trying to wrap my head around that one while figuring out how to plan a beautiful day on a budget ) and then our caboose growing up and starting high school next year . We just have to embrace these seasons . I know the Lord is in all of this .

We literally have just done this for our parents. I read somewhere that if you live away from your parents and only see them on holidays that you may depending on their ages only see them 30-60 more times in their life, this hit me in the heart hard……I wasn’t letting that happen! Best decision we have made in years, love our new community and see our parents when ever we want

i’ve been caring for my mom with dementia for the last 8 years in my moms home. she’s now in hospice but it’s the greatest blessing to care for my mom. it’s been a difficult process but i’m so grateful for the time together.
I get all of the rationale for the switcheroo, but is it okay if I still feel kind of nauseated? I was so "invested," if you will, in your whole process of renovating this house, and my hubby and I have been inspired by some of your design choices as we ramp up to do our own reno, but I couldn't agree with you more about relationships and family being top priority. I appreciate the way you explained the steps that got you to this point, but there's still a piece of me that feels sad. However, I'm kind of excited that you'll be moving closer to Ohio, 'cuz I really do hope that the Swans and the Knorpps can meet someday!

I knew you wouldn’t stay put but I really thought you’d be here for much longer! I thought it was your dream area! I really saw this until maybe Jude and eve were the only ones home then you hopping in the RV again! If your new land is big enough but you still want a small house I could see you having a little “cottage” or “tiny home” village for your adult kids and future grandkids to stay in, each designed in the best “granny chic” out there :) best of luck with the move!!
Challenges are part of living a life whether alone or with a large family! That is life: CHANGE!
