Thank you Tom for this song. I just had my breakup few days ago upon writing this, and it hurts me so much. I learned this song way back 1998 from 98 Degrees. Loved it since then, but never have I thought that I will relate to it and use it as my goodbye song to my ex. This means a lot to me.

I'm sure he will have made much more money from the MJ version than anyone else but I don't think it really suits the song and artistically it would be a much better song to this day if it had been recorded by someone with a deeper voice.

You know they talk about Michael before he did OFF The Wall. On The JACKSONS“DESTINY“ ALBUM Michael sang some awesome young adult songs. Go back and listen to that album, it was the precursor for OFF THE WALL. Brilliant songs on that album as well.

It just wasn't a rat song. It was one the best peformed ballads I heard when I was a kid. I did not care about the poor rat when I listened it. I cared about the message, the arrangment and the vocal performance of MJ
