      You can talk about the bad things which are becoming a thing of the past as Glasgow's booming creative and technology sectors are currently the biggest in Scotland, driving more business to it and making it a city the UK look to when talking about becoming a smart city. Don't act so high and mighty.

    Tis delightful to see my area of Glasgow being honestly reflected on CZcams.
    The normal CZcams fare is a bleak reflection of what the city was in the 50/60/70s and 80’s.
    The West End is and has always been the ‘trendy’ place to chill out in, in what even now can still be an industrial city.
    If at anytime you are moving to Glasgow, be it temporary or permanently; then seek out The West End 🎭.
    It truly is the; “jewel in the crown, of my home town”.

    No mention of the arts scene - Glasgow has the strongest arts and cultural output outside of London - and is hosting Britain's prestigious Turner Prize this year. No mention of the outstanding Victorian architecture, The Glasgow Style of Charles Rennie Mackintosh is recognised as being the most significant contribution to Art Nouveau besides Paris - and the birth of modernism. No mention of all the new museums and venues, No mention of the fact that Glasgow is the best springboard for exploring or getting a taste of the Scottish countryside and Highlands - with outstanding beauty within one hours reach of the city. No mention of it's sporting pedigree and host to the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Cummon NYT.. Glasgow is the place! After all... you wouldn't have Frank Lloyd Wright and Art Deco, without Charles Rennie Mackintosh! And no mention above all of the passionate earthy people, the outgoing open-hearted up-front characters that make the place what it is................'And they cross and they dust and they skate and the night comes.....' West Princess St.. circa 1984.

    To everyone saying this is not the "real" Glasgow: every city has many different sides to it, and no particular side is any more "real" than another. The people making this video just chose to show the particular side of the city, but that doesn't make this side of the city any less "real" than another.

    • @katy3901
      @katy3901 Před 4 lety +1

      I live in the West End and there's nothing real about it. The issue isn't with the video showing that side that as a concept, it's in the presentation implying that this is all Glasgow is. It's in the description claiming that Glasgow has changed from the long-held associations of poverty, when in reality for most Glaswegians this video might as well be from Edinburgh.

    The real Glasgow is a bit different than this - what we see here is the expensive, sanitised, artificial side, where those with money go to eat & drink, and as such, you're missing out on the good stuff...the real character of the city. This is not the Glasgow the vast majority of Glaswegians frequent...and enjoy.

      Like the slums of pollokshields and calton? The point of tourist videos is to highlight the fun and easy side of a city. For a new comer this is a decent intro. And when they land in glasgow I'm sure they can find their way round to more unexpected delights

    "This is not the real Glasgow" - Just because you live in some miserable estate on the edge of town doesn't mean everyone else does. Go and look at other places in the world and discover what true poverty is.

      Biased hyperbole. 90% is a gross exaggeration. Even the most beautiful cities in Europe have vast areas of deprivation. The banlieues in Paris put most of Glasgow's estates to shame.

    Stick to coffee, chocolate and tea. Alcohol dries your brain and causes 8 different cancers, especially breast cancer in women. The Lancet is among the most important medical journals in the world and after rigorous scientific studies they have concluded there is absolutely no safe level for alcohol consumption. 2,000 years ago very watered down wine killed dangerous bacteria, but today there is no need for it.

    Didn’t make me remember how Glasgow used to be. West end is over rated. Better off going through to Edinburgh if too scared to leave the west end. Taxi to sub club on a Saturday night doesn’t count. Could have at least walked down from the west end through Glasgow ending in the sub club. Would see anything & everything on a Saturday night on sauchiehall street 😂
