Thank you for this. So interesting to see the room view as a stage. Oddly the episodes never looked that bright on Katherine's set as it does here. Also, I did not know that the front door to her home is yet another set, and when someone came to the door and she opened it they were not actually standing in front of the foyer set here that obviously did not even have a front door on it. Unless they rolled one up to it and then put all the plants around it to make it look like you were standing on her front stoop. TV/movie making has always fascinated me.
They move walls very easy for camera shots. If you notice now the living room is shot from the back wall facing the foyer rather that the classic camera angle.
Katherine had Esther and other staff. The Abbotts had staff. Times have changed BUT , these homes should have staff. At least the Abbott house still looks much the same with traditional crystal Chandelier! Thank God!
Just discovered this gem 💎. Katherine the GREAT and Jill in the original Chancellor living room. 🏆. This set was pure old money 💰 , just right for Katherine. 👑 👸. Sad to see what this room looks like now!☹️. Only good thing now is Katherine's portrait over the mantle.
March 19, 2016. The rumor is out across the internet that the Chancellor set has either been renovated or torn down completely! This set is a television icon and should not be destroyed! Elodie, can you please obtain any information from Jess on the status of the Chancellor set?
This was fun to see, wish there was more. Did they actually tape the scene with "fish head" included, instead of bubble brain ... because that would be great. It's such an unexpected, funny insult.
Honestly it's the cue cards that probably allowed Y&R to always appear a cut above - the actors could just glance at their lines as needed and *emote*.
I just realized that the first 2 sets when the video starts are the old Newman ranch sets before Sharon burned them down. That was so stupid to get rid of something that had been a part of this show since probably 1980 especially since Victor and Nikki are still on the show and live in a rebuilt house. Stupid move, as well as flipping Katherine's sofa around to face the other way in 2013 which screwed up that whole set also. This show today is a complete f'king mess!
TimsDale4ever You are so right and that's exactly why I stopped watching Y&R over six years ago. It really baffles me when I hear some long time viewers say that they think it's still good because it definitely isn't! It's truly horrible in comparison to the days when Bill Bell was still alive.
My favorite set in all of daytime drama history - including the foyer with the staircase. Just exceptional!
