    Even though I moved away from El Paso almost 35 years ago, the sight of the mountain on such a spectacularly clear day in the late afternoon sun brought back a host of great memories. Growing up on the west side in the mid 60's lent itself to numerous adventures in the unspoiled desert literally down the street from our family home. Nothing like the smell of the desert after a summer rain, or the harvest moon rising over the Franklins...I digress. Thank you so much for providing such a great drive down memory lane!

    I visited from Brooklyn New York a few months ago. The Walgreens in Brooklyn has locks on the freezer door with the ice cream inside. Coded bathrooms and aggressive drivers everywhere. I loved El Paso I even went into Juarez to visit a friend's family and went out to dinner. The pace in El Paso for me was slowwww. I felt no stress, just really relaxed. If anything, I was the one who stood out because I was still in NYC mode. Now I am looking to buy a home there. 55 years in NYC makes most other places feel relaxed. About the only thing I did miss from New York was the availability of a variety of excellent quality food from all over the world. There were some great restaurants in El Paso but the density and diversity of NYC is hard to beat when it comes to availability, variety, and quality of restaurants. I can always go back, I will keep my home in Brooklyn.

      If you do move here just keep in mind we are almost never on time. Lol
      If someone says the meeting is at 3pm that means people won't arrive until about 3:15 and the meeting itself won't start till 3:30.
      If you are invited to a party never arrive at the scheduled time you'll likely arrive before the party host.
      NYC is definitely the polar opposite in terms of the pace, we are never in a hurry to do anything.

    • @SkyvatorProductions
      @SkyvatorProductions Před rokem +5

      Here in Arizona, specifically the Phoenix metro area, almost all restrooms have codes not only because of homeless people but because people get high and overdose in those restrooms. The homeless people also take a bath in public restrooms. In some gas stations here, they even have the restroom closed to the public. The further away you get form Phoenix City and Tempe, the more restrooms are open like anywhere else. Even some grocery stores here have coded restrooms.

    Thank you for making this video and posting it. I've lived here all of my life and I'm so grateful that God put me here to live my life. It is true and obvious that cities like San Antonio, Austin, Dallas and Houston have higher levels of wealth and more forms of entertainment because of that wealth, El Paso is a solid place live in. Fox News and even CNN have always reported on us and made us look bad without actually setting foot in the city. When you give the city of El Paso a genuine chance to impress you and see what it has to offer, you'll be pleasantly surprised. When you come back, I hope you make a video going to visit the areas by the El Paso Country Club and Coronado Country Club, you were actually pretty close to both because they're both on the West Side. Those are some very nice neighborhoods in El Paso and most out of towners say, "I would've never thought El Paso had neighborhoods that look this nice." Wishing the both of you more safe travels and finding more hidden gems in other cities.

    Your literally no where near the Zaragoza bridge or Alemeda where all these people are all over the streets . Go toward speaking Rock Casino and drive down Alemeda and you’ll see tons of immigrants. My cousin just took a bunch of money and clothes for the homeless immigrants and they surrounded his suv and started trying to open the doors and drag him and his kids out the car he had to drive off as soon as there was a clearing because the minute they saw money in his hand they went nuts . Not a joke and yes it’s that bad .

I enjoy visiting, but would never live there ever again. I think there are better cities in Texas such as Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, etc. I always hear from family that more and more people are moving to El Paso and that it's getting more crowded. In the past times I've visited, I noticed how substantially worse traffic has become.

    El Paso has one of the lowest crime rates in the US. There is a reason for that. The Cartels protect El Paso because it is a very important distribution and entry point for members so they they do not want any crime in El Paso so it is a safe place to use.

We’ve always had a lot of migrants pass through, but not enough to skyrocket our crime rates. In fact, El Paso is one of the safest cities in the US! Want to look for crime, go to Detroit, Houston, Memphis, and Chicago. Don’t come here with that toxic mindset.

    In Santa Barbara, lots of bathrooms were coded or keyed. We had the largest homeless back in the 80’s; it was the nation’s homeless Mecca (I was told by several homeless that you can sleep on the beach without freezing; and we had the most restaurants per capita, so the doggie bags and food were pretty outstanding.

      @@jzila9900 T’was, back then as well. California’s tax was 7.25%, but Santa Barbara’s was 7.75%.
      I love the California I knew in the 70’s to 90’s. I hardly recognize it now.
