    Avocado are great houseplants I love how they shoot out leaves- some houseplants get me excited when I see they are beginning to pop out a new leaf but avocados pop out like three or four at a time! My mom gave me a potted avocado when I moved out many years ago and said this plant is a ,"good luck" plant for a new home. Unfortunately the plant became a casualty of life a long time ago but I have like twenty some seeds I'm attempting to get going now so I can once again have an avocado houseplant. I dont know if I could ever get one to grow this large where I live now though, that's a large frickin tree!

      I agree, new growths are the best 😊. Sorry to hear that the tree died… I have lost some trees along the way too. Good luck with getting a new tree! It’s a good idea to grow many seeds like you do, for backup 😊.

    I think at this point it should be outside more since they get pretty big. Mine is only 4 months old and the small avocado is pretty big I have it growing with grow lights and fish fertilizer, the larger pit just started spurting honestly I thought it was dead lol thankfully that's not the case. I have 2 avocados growing in the same pot. And the 3rd one is growing in a slightly different manner but it's growing that is 6 months old. Lol

      @NordicPlantLover  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah, that would be nice, I am moving to a house soon, maybe it can be outside during the summer there :).

    Congrats on your epic branch. What size of pot. How many times have you repotted? Could you cut the lower branch? Great videos. Thanks and Aloha.

      Thanks! I think it’s 40cm pot, and I have repotted maybe 4-5 times. I would recomend to repot 2 times first year, then 1 time every year after that. I have a problem with thatnow tho because it’s so big 😅. Yeah I could do that.

    • @NordicPlantLover
      @NordicPlantLover  Před 2 lety

      Thank you!
      Yeah, I do. It can be a problem with drying out the leaves, did you notice I had a lot of brown ends? :). But that is also a normal process with avocados, they drop old dry leaves every season and grow new ones. But heat and escpecially dry air make them go dry/brown faster unfortunatly. It is why I have bought an air humidifier, to try to keep the climate more moist during the winter :).

    Hi! I have about 15 avocado plants now. Two of them are almost 2 years old and they’re getting really tall. However, I have cats just like you so I’ve been growing the plants on top of closets the cats can’t reach. Now two of them are also touching the ceiling and I need to move them to the ground. Does you cat try and eat the leaves? If so, is it dangerous for cats? I’ve read that avocados themselves are. Thank you so much! Yours look so great, and I love your cat too!

    • @NordicPlantLover
      @NordicPlantLover  Před 2 lety +1

      Hello 👋. Nice collection! Does your cats eat/attack other plants? I am very fortunate that none of my 3 cats are interested in my plants, only once on a palm type plant that has very grassy looking leaves. I know many plants can be toxic for cats, tho Im not sure about avocado plants. I would say try with one or two plants first, and keep it under watch :). If the cats are interested, they show it pretty fast hahah 😸.

      @@NordicPlantLover thank you for your reply! I love that you have three cats and so many plants. They have eaten from my banana plant before but now they leave it alone. I just have to try it then ☺️

    What species is your avocado tree.Hass, Florida?

    • @NordicPlantLover
      @NordicPlantLover  Před 2 lety

      It is planted from a hass seed, mexico I think… But! That does not make this a Hass tree, due to avocado genetics. Every tree born is a new species, and produces a new kind of fruit 😊.

    my tall but wimpy one made a branch (?) from under the soil. i recently cut a branch because it was too leggy and it may have been a response to that. that branch hasn’t grown any New leaves yet and I’m worried it won’t.

    • @NordicPlantLover
      @NordicPlantLover  Před 2 lety +2

      After a cut, the tree often respond with one or more new branches. But it doesn't always wanna work on more branches at the same time. In my experience it always have a main projects it's working on, and if it's mature enough, it can work on a few side projects as well :D. Hope that helps.

    Why on my avocado seed baby stems are dying 🤔

    • @NordicPlantLover
      @NordicPlantLover  Před 2 lety

      It’s hard to say, but if things are dying, it is not good… might be root rot, pretty common with avocados.
