Your videos are absolutely invaluable to a new DCS pilot like myself. Coming from civilian sims which I've been using since the dawn of time, I'm really enjoying DCS but often find it's steep learning curve quite overwhelming at times. Take care.

its only good when people realise that people like myself dont know how to switch to bvr mode ect, its like me giving you a remote for a tv and saying now switch to projector tv mode, and considering not many people actually give that info it makes 99% of ''tutorials'' not be tutorials, 3 days straight of this bullshit , its getting super old supper fast, i have typed bvr into controles ect, now i have to continue doing what i was doing before hand and trying to find a switch or button

@@telkicelstascal8875 I know this is a year later but if anyone else needs this info here it is. If in A/A mode, which you will likely be if trying to fight in ACM, pressing right on the SCS will change back to RTS which will be one of the BVR modes(RWS/TWS ETC).
ACM - Air Combat Maneuvering, basically close-ish range fighting mode with guns/missiles.
BVR - Beyond Visual Range mode, Finding and targeting enemies or friendlies at longer ranges, typically over 10 Nautical Miles
RTS - Return to Search, basically whatever mode you were last in in the BVR radar screen
Check your key/control bindings for SCS Up, Down, Right, Left etc in "adjust controls" settings menu to find out what keypresses you need to hit in order to execute these commands. While you are there mignt wanna know what undesignate and SCS depress are as well, Depress will be useful for more advanced radar functions as you learn more.
I think the biggest issue with tutorials is all the acronyms being used, acronyms are everywhere in DCS and other Mil Sims and thrown around to the point it sounds like someone is speaking a different language. Learn the acronyms ASAP if you are just starting out and it will help you a lot. I have watched all the F/A-18 videos in order and it still was hard to understand, it wasnt until I watched Growling Sidewinders video on Modern Air Combat terminology that it started to click.

If anyone was wondering. On your hat switch, the Sensor Control Switch (SCS), that will desginate the SOI. But if you go into A/A mode, for your AB/AC. If you hit up on the HAT it will go into Bore sight mode. Assuming you are using the real world config desginated by the F-18C manual. Normal HAT mode does the SOI, use the config switch, to switch to AB/AC. Then hit the HAT again UP to go into bore sight mode. Hope that helps, I am using the X-52 right now, I don't have a desk big enough for my Thrustamster Warthogs. Plus I want to master the F-18C before I use them anyway. Just training sticks. They suck. Or you know you could just use the cokpit controls on the MFD to get to the weapon, the use your SCS on a hat swtich, to get to Bore sight. I am sure you can do that on the keyboard as well, but, real fighter don't use a keyboard..haha. This puts you ino ACM mode. Bu you will lose your taget on the FCS if your not 10 nautical miles away.

Thats a tutorial I would like to see, how to actually fly and manuever in combat. Probably does not exist. Speed, altitude, RWS, TWS, when to use them. Radar range, azimuth scan ranges, when and why? AoA? SST? ACM? When, how and why? All these systems and so many more, when to use them, in what situations and how to execute them. Yeah you can push buttons in a jet foghter and shoot a missile. But, none of that really means anything, if you don't know exactly, what needs to be setup and executed in exact moments. To be TOP GUN.

With your tutorial I'm now able to accurately bomb ground targets, and somewhat use the radar for a/a fights. That SCS switch is confusing the hell outta me.
I was even able to land the f18 on a carrier on my 2nd attempt. 1st wasn't a disaster I missed the wires and full throttled off and came back around and caught 2nd wire with a rating of B, I think. Never before that had I attempted a CV landing in dcs. Last time was when I played Flight of the Intruder in early 90's.

Be cool to see how a real fightr pilot does a CCIP bombing run. But that is Classified. Its weird real fighter pilots dont make their own vidoes on youtube to show us the real deal, and how shit is actually done. DCS is very respectable, I wish the military would get more involved. Well, DCS is not just respectable, its fucking AWESOME!!!! Eagle Dynamics deserves a military Medel that says "BAD ASS" on it. Shit is so amazing. Its the only happiness I got. ACM is really difficult. You have to reference all your systems information and cordiante them togethor in order to fly effectivly. Once a bandit get on my six, what do I do? I roll around and stuff, feeling like an idiot. I think thats one of the hardest thing about being a fighter pilot. Assuming you are in a real dog fight. But the X-52 flight sticks, are pure junk. Learning all the systems and knowing them all, like the back of your hand is a real challenge. But actually flying and manuerving, is like the hardest thing in the world. No it is the hardest thing in the world. Thats why fighter pilots are the top 1% in life. They are GODS. Anything else in life is like; "well yeah your not a fighter pilot, so nobody cares." If anyone takes DCS very seriously like I do, you realize flying a fighter jet is really fucking hard. This aint the movies, or a video game. And DCS is so hard, imagine real life. Like I said...Fighter pilot = GOD.

CCIP and CCRP tutorilas are not accurate. Real F-18 fighter pilots don't roll to the target, they never dive to -20 degress. They most likely use ToT navigation to know th exact speed and altitude to drop the munitions at level flight. Cause you know AA/SAMS. They dont pull up hard after a bomb run. Its not how it works. you don't go from a high altitude to a low one to drop a bomb in CCIP/CCRP. Its pretty much level flight. You can go from 20,000 feet to 5000 feet very fast, at that point you are dead. Basically if "Bitching Betty" is telling you to pull up after a bomb run it was sloppy. ToT navgation should give the pilot the information to drop the bomb at mostly level flight. Diving iand pulling up close to danger is stupid.
