Lan, I’m happy for you with the collab! I hope that you mean what you said, ‘great for multiple skin tones’ which historically and very recently Nudestix had not been. Their concealer range is not inclusive for anyone with tan, dark or deep skin. I hope that you use your direct line of communication with the founders to push this point and encourage them to expand!
I'm really happy for her too. But I own the cheek colors, as they are existing shades, and in the nude doesn't show up extremely well on my medium tan skin tone, I have to layer quite a bit. They have other colors that show up well on darker skin (i.e. naughty & spice and sunkissed) but I'm not sure if this kit is really "great for multiple skin tones".
I love that this comment is constructive! You didn’t bash her or “cancel” her or whatever. I too hope she talks to them, and that they in the near future are able to collaborate with various influencers with different, deeper skin tones, like Alyssa, Jackie, and Nyma
@@jasminey9642 yeah those are the one NudeStix products I own because nothing else shows up on me 😂 and I'm barely on the darker spectrum sadly....I hope they come out with a more inclusive shade range soon otherwise I'll keep sticking to Fenty, Rare, ABH and other brands
@@jasminey9642 I own the terra eye pencil she showed and on my light skin (slightly pigmented eyelids) it comes across a little ashy, I only use it on my lower lash line tbh, so the way she put it all over her lid I doubt "everyone" can do that, which is a shame cuz I wanna do that makeup look she did she makes everything look so good and easy, curse my pigmented eyelids 🤦♀️
@kayla Harper I was thinking the same thing. I almost purchased it but I just don’t think anything will show up on my medium skin tone.
I'm always excited when you get to do an actual collab, and not just a video sponsorship. But I am so mad that Nudestix is using you to cover their ass. Saying that the products can be used on so many skin tones--doesn't actually make this true. So tone deaf of them in light of the concealer debacle, esp when the blush and 1st eyeshadow clearly won't work for medium to rich skin tones. Hey Honey and Gilt might be too light as well, past medium skin.

Yes! The shade range of their concealer was bad and their response to the feedback was even worse. I’m really disappointed by it.

They are. Taylor Frankel said it on an instagram live a week or two ago. I think they saved it on Nudestix’s instagram
Really happy for you allana and I’m sure you’ve signed contracts and an NDA and can’t speak negatively of the brand but I have never seen an uninclusive launch be handled so badly by a brand in my life and cannot support this collab. Maybe you can talk to Taylor (who blocked me in Instagram for calling out the range) about how they might pull product in the future if they haven’t made enough shades for everyone.

Happy for you Alana, but seriously...what a disaster Nudestix has been this year. Daily 30-50% off. No shades for tanner skin despite using deeper skinned models (can’t really see much on the skin). Mission critical shipping DISASTERS. And I don’t find their formula lasts longer than about 4 hours max for bronzer and maybe 3 hours for eye sticks on my dry skin. Do a collab with Colourpop and you’ll own my bank account.

Well, we all got to make a living and I certainly know that....the influencer doesn’t have total control of the brands output and the problem lies in the fact that the influencer, our lovely girl, does happen to have a complexion where these items/colors work the best for her. I wish brands would do these collabs with three influencers simultaneously so they create a fair, medium and dark version of the same items. Since most of the time this only requires one “exclusive” item with the rest being existing items, this could have a been a deeper blush for deep, a darker bronzer for medium and a perfect lip color for fair. It’s not rocket science. But as I mentioned, I think NudeStix has been a total disaster during the pandemic and I am actually surprised they didn’t completely fold during the last 8 months. I wanted to build a collection of their stuff but since it doesn’t have a good color range and it doesn’t last on my skin...I have now shifted to other brands.

I’m sure this has been in the works for a while and obviously before the BLM movement and maybe there was no way for you to get out of this contract. I hope you had a discourse with the owners about their shade range, etc to AT LEAST own up to your support to BLM. If not, I don’t know what else to feel. I’m proud of you because you’ve been working so hard with your content and I understand if there was no way of backing out of this, but at least talk to the owners of the brand about being exclusive.
I feel like people shouldn’t need the BLM protests to remind them to care about inclusivity. That makes me so sad. Honestly she’s such a sellout. Obviously only spoke about BLM and inclusivity to gain social justice points when the protests happened

I love you so much and so so badly want to buy this product to support you but I am so torn because I don't want to support Nudestix after everything that went down with them! Love and support you still, and if you did something similar with another brand that is more inclusive I would have snatched this up so fast! This must be such a hard situation for you because you probably have worked on this for so long, way before things went down badly for this brand. I hope that you will be able to use your influence with the brand to help them see what they MUST improve on!
THIS! I think a lot of people in the comments are overlooking the fact that Lan has been working on this since the beginning of the year, well before Nudestix started going down. Just because she partnered with this brand early on doesn't mean all her efforts towards BLM is for nothing. I do hope Nudestix does better and learns from its shameful concealer release!
Crystal Angela Tranquilino Nudestix going down didnt barely happen this year... the owners wearing MAGA hats years ago, lying about their ingredients being vegan, blocking people who commented any sort of question or criticism, and their shade ranges have NEVER been inclusive. This is nothing new.
Nope Nope yes it didn't start this year but it sure did peak in the middle of this year to the point that influencers pretty recently started removing their affiliate codes. (also that shameful maga hat photo was posted when the owner was only 16, which was about 4 years ago, yes age is not an excuse but people make mistakes they no longer agree with. it would have been better had they publicly addressed it though as owners of the company)
