i dont know why, but all these stories have a common beginning..they always use racial slurs against him. I'm black..and I've never experienced that before. Maybe it's because they were in small southern towns 20-30 years ago, different atmosphere. I've been in small towns before..but only on the black side. Idk why these small towns have to be so racially divided..a white part of town, black part of town, etc. Sad man.

Some random white guy would just throw a racial slur at him. I think they appreciate Haku, because as white men, they learned that racism is indeed a real thing that exists. That's why they always fought alongside him. He was their friend..and he helped them evolve personally to understand that they are fortunate to not have to deal with the level of racism that minorities do. Yes, minorities can be racist as well. But their racism doesnt disproportion or disenfranchise white people on an institutional level, given its only 44 million blacks vs 270 million whites in America. More white children exist than all black people period, so naturally, one form of racism has more bite than the other. Either way, he's the first non-white buddy a lot of these guys had..and they learned a lot from their experiences w/ him.

the recurring theme in all of these testimonies about Haku/Meng is that he was tough and humble and that's what earned their respect. it doesn't sound like getting into fights over racist comments was a big factor in his reputation. and to say all this stuff about him teaching them about racism is putting words in their mouths.

Brian got out and started to let our lane thru and a guy comes at him with a whiskey bottle , gets hit in the point of his chin and went to sleep. Out jumps his friend , same deal except he only had a 12 oz beer bottle. Walked into a straight right hand , nose splatters and he falls on his friend ,still laying in the middle of Columbia Parkway. Heres a story: Growing up(ages 9/10)
I had a neighborhood friend. His dad was a martial arts instructor and taught all his children martial arts as well. Well, one day they were out at a public beach as a family. About 30 yards away, someones dog had gotten off its leash. It was a huge dog and clearly for security and I guess overprotective of its owner.
For whatever reason when that dog got off its lease it made a Beeline to my friends family, barking and snarling. My friends dad stepped forward and told everybody to find shelter and to call the cops. As that dog zeroed in on my friends dad and jumped/lunged to bite him, friends dad connected with right straight to the chest of the dog. like where our sternum would be. Well, not alone did he kill the dog but his fist actually manage break skin and bone and penetrate the dog. So deep, that just his forearm muscle was poking out. Immediately after killing said animal he had to shake it off his fist and forearm and allow the animal to slide off his arm.
My friend said it was 2 very quick movements in succession and it happened what seemed like a blink of an eye. He also said, “See? My dad can definitely beat up anyone else’s dad our school” 😂 Well played sir 🤣
ps. we were children and although I suspect some of the details might be off, I %100 believe my friends dad protected his family but punching a dog to death. His dad always struck me as a very intense person when I’d talk to him lmao

I have never had the privilege of meeting/working with Haku, but I have all the respect in the world for him. He is a legend and he has earned that respect. I have been lucky enough when it comes to Barbie. Straight talk, one of the nicest, sweetest people you will ever meet. Hanging with him is like hanging with Jerry Lynn (in different ways, but similar in how fun/cool/relaxed it is). I'd never want to see anyone piss Barbie off, because there is no question in my mind he could turn them into a fine red paste, but he is an absolute joy to hang around with.

Haku, Rick Rude and Rick Steiner sitting quietly in a bar and some guys want to go and mess with them? They deserve their pummeling. "Haku took out 4 or 5 of them, Rude put 2 or 3 more of them on the ground!" And it was over..

You know as a polynesian man, I never noticed before but, these guys are right we island boys have a tick, and were nice until that tick gets triggered, then....... anything is game. Like literally death is not only an option it's almost like a goal. I don't understand it. I've seen it mostly concentrated within the polynesian community.
