I'm like level 100ish in HLL. The infantry experience does get better with time. Not saying you won't die all the time, but with a good communicative squad, and an experienced SL, you don't just feel like you're constantly dying for nothing. Often you're dying for an actual objective that could help turn the whole game around. Even if you die a lot it feels good knowing you got that second garry up that helped cap a point, or you wiped out a recon squad that's been camping the arty, or knocked out a tank that's helping the enemy cap a point. I guess it's not for everyone, but I pretty much exclusively play infantry.
I do agree that putting effort in learning this game and leveling up helps a whole lot for the game experience!
I also only play infantry. Having a good squad helps for sure. My lasr couple of games it felt like only my squad was getting garry's up and pushing on OBJ's. I love the feeling of a squad pushing up and taking out a significant amount of enemy forces. It's rewarding. Plus I love running alongside tanks and using them as cover plus giving them infantry protection.
Likewise, I almost exclusively play SL to get flanks or get garries up for the team. Itâs incredibly gratifying and thatâs why itâs my favorite game right now
KK just sucks at infantry tbh; his strengths are SL and Commander type stuff, not the actual shooting
This is the only shooter game I currently am playing, BECAUSE, of the infantry experience. It encourages real tactical gameplay. Taking cover, moving methodically, constantly looking for possible lines of sight, etc. Makes the game so much more rewarding, when you do get a 3+ kill streak. Not to mention, if you're playing with a high quality squad... everything, becomes 3x easier, and you can really dominate an area or objective.
To be fair, this game is pretty realistic. Getting hit by a 30-06 is no joke.

@@lockheedac-130gunship8 You should watch, as uncomfortable as they may be, police body cam footage, often times a suspect has been shot upwards of 10 times and have continued to fight back. Yes, drugs often play a role in this but then again the strongest drug against pain and shock is adrenaline when it comes to survival fight or flight situations. And watching war footage from Ukraine you can see soldiers taking several rounds before going down or fighting on for hours after taking lethal but not immediately incapacitating shots such as lung, heart or blood vessel shots.
Of course bullet calibers in police shootings are different and modern calibers used in warfare tend not to be as large as those used in WW2, however, there are still stories of men, performing their duties with multiple gunshot wounds and shrapnel injuries and fighting on despite often fatal wounds.
I dont think any game out there other than maybe ready or not does THIS good of a job conveying how lethal combat is.
edit: (I am fully aware other milsims and hardcore shooters exist, I am saying hell let loose was designed in a way to be brutal and unforgiving, yes there are other games where you can die quick, but not quite like this one.)

Been playing HLL for about a year. All I can say is that you need a tons of patience playing as infantry .
Staying alive in this game boils down to constantly looking around the map to see where the enemy MAY be, not exposing yourself without a good reason, keeping distance to the enemy, proper movement around the battlefield (so while it may be tempting to run into a cap with enemies cutting it off, it's usually a bad idea) and listening. And even then you're gonna get killed by enemy recon or a lucky shot constantly. It's brutal, but you can learn how to survive.
For example - you just capped midcap and now you see that ur team is pushing south and west. On a 100 man server it's a good bet to assume that the enemy is going to be coming from east and will soon be spreading out to north east and north.
was fun playing with ya man the other heavy tank squad working with you guys was my buddies that was honestly one of the funnest matches ive had in along time
Once you figure out how to properly position yourself against enemy movement, you become the one dishing out the suffering to their infantry. Nothing more satisfying in the game than puling off a flank/angle and grinding away.
Ive been playing this game recently and only play infantry. I sometimes feel like I'm dying over and over, but that has more to do with squad lead's op placement than anything. I think that this game's infantry experience feels far better than games like squad tbh, because without all the optics, classes like machine gunner actually do supressing fire instead of looking for individual guys through their acog to spray down, and good aim is rewarded by the lower ammo counts and cyclic rates of the non-automatic rifles. I just really hate spawning into a bombing run/arti strike though, but I got used to that after playing so much Rising Storm 2 lol.

This game is by far the best FPS i've ever played. As an infantry, you are actually in need to plan every move you want to do carefully. Otherwise you'll pay it instantly
One major difference between HLL and Arma or Squard settings is that situational awareness is much lower and communications are much more limited except for tanks.
My usual HLL experience:
"Hmm, this may be a bad idea... *TINK*........ Yup." Lmaooo
Patience ,communication , good squad, learning the maps , having basic knowledge of all classes and their roles and when to use specific role in different situations ,knowing when to push attack and when to redeploy to defend objectives in warfare .... just to name a few things that will help you die less when it comes to infantry combat because sometimes dying in this game is good,,dying could mean delaying the enemy attack while the other squads are capturing objectives or defending your base . Ohh i almost forgot .. always change position when you are using tank or 21:55 can happen and always move with the infantry
The patience part can't be stressed enough. I can't count the amount of times I've been punished for losing patience and trying to move only to find the footsteps I thought I imagined were in fact a guy right across the hedge.

As much as I love Karmakut, I love it even more when he gets to experience the roles that take a little bit more "skill", don't get me wrong tanks and snipers have their own difficulties but they have a better survival rate and need to also do less for the team. Tanks have a big role for the team but they just need to sit in one spot and stack kills, same thing goes with snipers.
You also can get killed in an instant in a tank. It's very close to how it was.... if you're around infantry you can survive long then if you're not as ambushes are always present... especially in a town. If you're not on the move you will be killed

I play on console so different story but I love HLL infantry gameplay. A good squad can totally change the game if they play well.
lvl 130 here. Just keep moving from cover to cover the best you can. Best advice i can give.
All I will say about tanks is don't overlook the Luchs when a couple of friends and I were running it we smoked 2 Stuarts and a Sherman. It took a moment to get the tactics down but it's pretty much blind the gunner while we use our speed and flank.
Luchs can't destroy Stuarts/Shermans in this game, maybe you meant Puma?

Yeah you can damage a Sherman but that's about it
@@og7277 I have seen luchs pull up behind clueless Shermans and kill them. It takes multiple full mags though they need to be seriously distracted and not a great crew though.
No you havenât because the Luchs can only damage the health pool of the tracks of a Sherman/Stuart.

It's funny because I think playing infantry in HLL is way easier than squad. Engagement ranges are much closer thanks to irons, target id is much easier, gun play is far more consistent than squad, ttk is much easier to work with. It's very easy for me to go 30+ kills in HLL, I'll be lucky if I go 4+ in squad.

This was a very enoyable watch. One of the few games i can actually enjoy just watching gameplay from.
As far as the infantry class goes...it can be frustrating but if you've got a good squad that communicates and works well together there really isnt as interesting and immersive an experience out there in my opinion.
I cant play other shooters anymore and i loved battlefield one. It feels like a cartoon now.
This is a love hate relationship kind of game.

I wish I could like this game, but even with my computer meeting minimum specs I had to play with the resolution so low that I couldn't see people at range and my GPU would throttle on some maps. Hopefully someday I can enjoy this game.
Yea, itâs a pretty unoptimized game frankly, I was running an older system with a 1060 SSC Dual ACX with a 2600 and if i remember correctly i was playing on medium to low settings to play 1080p, recently upgraded to an RTX 30 series with a 5600x and I now play this game in 1440p High. But when i was playing on my older setup, I certainly struggled on some maps.

Iâm level 15 on this game and my KD is positive. Thatâs not to boast Iâm done sweat, just to show infantry is not hard when you use your brain and play smart. Aka.. avoid all meat grinders

@@karmakut 1 defensive MG on a good day can compete with a 3 man heavy tank crew for kills/survivability, but that is definitely expert level.
You need a bigger mouse pad, a more sensitive mouse, or something else, because you move across the screen like an inch at a time.

Watching this makes me wonder if "mechanized infantry" will change meaning from "infantry with vehicle support" to "dudes in exosuits" at some point in the future.
HLL infantry has a physical requirement
If you do not have at least 20/20 vision do not play.
If you do have perfect vision but your monitor is smaller than 50" do not play.
Camouflaged ants with scopes will one shot you while you're running, and running, and running, and dying, and running.
I play on a 25â tv with 1080p settings and I have no problems seeing enemies when Iâm really into itâŠyou canât play this game casually it requires 100% of your attention 100% of the time.
@@The_Rude_French_Canadian you're probably the chap that keeps shooting me then. I can't do it. Walking, running, crawling, laying still, doesn't matter. My longest life I think is around 3 minutes.
Spawning into the front line points is instant death. Spawning at the back of the map just takes 5 minutes of running to the front line, usually shot on the way there. Definitely shot before I see any of my squad.
I even tried crawling through bushes the whole way once, was kicked from my squad, then shot from God only knows where.

The problem does not come from being infantry. It is all about your skill.
I just wish they would fix the quicksand effect. The physical animations of your infantry moving looks like you are on meth hauling ass. But the actual inertia and movement itself through the map feels like you are in quicksand. It's so contradictory to your eyes. At least for me personally. Literally seeing a man sprinting through quicksand.

No offense but it just seems like you're bad at adapting to the play style required to be successful as an infantry in HLL. If you try to run and gun you will be punished. This game is all about methodically flanking the enemy and getting yourself stuck into a good camping position where you can intercept their reinforcements. If you refuse to adapt then don't blame the game for your own short comings.
