This is such a good series
Love that the game selection is random, looking forward to learning about some games I've never played or completely forgot about.
Agreed
it could have been
Diddy Kong Racing was one of my favorite games as a kid. I remember the anxiety WizPig gave me when he was stomping up behind me on the first race. Lol
Same here! Me and my friend used to play every other course, then a few years ago I found out there's a cheat-code that lets you play co-op Adventure Mode.. Wish I had known that as a kid, but still, awesome game!
took me so long to beat him. stressful as fucckk
I never beat that race. I’m 32 and still remember that boss battle haunting me. I still think about it sometimes lol. It was so hard.
"I'm VERY excited for more" : blankest face ever. 100% thab, approved.
I just realized, if Thab posts one of these videos each friday, so once a week, it's gonna be 394 weeks until all the N64 games will have been finished and turned into a video. At this pace, this is a journey that will last more than 7.5 YEARS. Incredible.
See you on the other side!
Wow, did the N64 really only have 394 games?
Thank god he didnt do this with PS2...yet :D
Huh he said he's gonna be finished around 2024
The OP said at “this pace” as in posting a video at the pace he is doing. So as a CZcams only viewer it would take 7.5 years like he mentioned
This game is so nostalgic.
I know, i was live
This was one of the first games I bought in 1997 when I got the N64. I also had the player's guide and, watching this video, made me realize just how much tougher this game would have been without that. I don't know if I would have discovered some of the vital secrets like letting off the gas right before hitting a boost or the location of all the keys (which wasn't even shown in this review). It also told how to do a really tight turn (I think A, B, R, and a turn direction) which is absolutely vital on the silver coin races. Seeing him drive straight into the water after getting one of the silver coins made me wonder if he even knew about it because a tight turn can save you in those moments.
I haven't played this game since the late 90s but hearing him say how difficult he found some of the courses (I remember Greenwood Village silver coin and Wizpig race 1 very vividly) validates my accomplishments as a 12-year-old beating this game 100%.
When I was young I figured out all that when I was young but the hunt for the tt door (lighthouse) which we couldn't beat wizpig so it wouldn't open anyways but damn did we still search... Hunting the keys was actually fun not knowing where they were they let you explore maps trying to find them and you would find cool shortcuts
The multi-player levels were so much fun. I absolutely miss the hell outta this game
8:26 yes, it is a design choice, the mines he lays wouldn't do anything on a huge track if you get ahead of him. with laps they can still hit you a lap ahead
If you're a lap ahead a mine isn't going to make you lose half a lap or more, if the enemy is a lap ahead you're not going to win. I don't see your logic here
@@maxim.b thats the logic the devs probably went with, doesn't mean it has to make sense
@@maxim.b The point is they last through to the next lap. So you have to dodge them twice if you're behind, but still once if you're in front.
The music in Haunted Woods is the best music in any game ever IMHO.
I think my favorite thing about this is seeing Thabeast in a different setting than Mario. It’s like watching Lebron play his favorite Winter Olympic events.
Thabeast doesn't flop
Really enjoying this series and love the review of the games. Really hope you keep up with this idea. These games bring back so many memories from my childhood, I remember when most of the n64 games came out if that explains how old I am lol, thanks for the nostalgia thab it very appreciated.
I remember as a kid I never beat wiz pig the first time, so when I revisited the games like 5 years ago I was throughly surprised to find out there was a 5th world, Amazing game! Nothing but Bangerz from Rare back then
As a kid, this game was interesting, infuriating, & satisfying. As racing games go, Diddy Kong Racing was the most fulfilling. This video was a trip. Loving the series.
This is a fantastic series, not only are the videos edited in a way that makes things move along quickly and precisely, you are also a great commentator. You talk about things in an efficient manner while also adding enough of your own flair to keep things interesting and entertaining. Keep up the good work! :)
Loving this format! Can’t wait to see more games
Great Job Thab, I am one of your fans that mostly watches the endless runs. I have seen all of your different types of content, but ultimately veer off after a while. Its your MM2 endless where you shine the brightest. Saying all of that I can honestly say, this is the best content you have ever made. And I honestly feel like this deserves more views and likes from all, as this is really well made and creative. The short and concise format is wonderful and I hope for all the best. Keep it up Thab.
Yessss so excited this series is just beginning.
To this day, this is still my all-time favorite racing game
I can see this series exploding in popularity in the future, it will be an amazing accomplishment! Glad I found your channel.
Man the plots for video games in the 90s were wild. They really said we're making the racing antagonist a giant pig wizard from outer space and just went with it. Legends
Tomba had pig antagonists as well. Makes you wonder if they all read Animal Farm.
I remember the rumors around the 101% completion of this game; they said that you could unlock a boss multiplayer mode where you selected your boss and raced, one of them was a Giant Donkey Kong.
Ha! Never knew about that, would have been really cool if it were true..
This is my favourite series on youtube at the moment! Love these videos. Nostalgia central.
YES! I had been waiting for part 2. Love the series!
This is an excellent series. Really fascinating to watch and a bit of nostalgia. Great commentary which brings the game to life. Thank you!
Love this series. It also made me more interested in following the live streams. Looking forward to the next games!
I love this game. And I am loving your channel, just discovered it and watched 3 videos today. There are certain favorites of mine where I can't wait til you get to them on the randomizer.
This series is truly outstanding!
When I saw the length of this video I felt a moment of disappointment, expecting that it would be a zoomed-out analysis and would brush over the gameplay.
To my pleasant surprise this couldn't be further from the truth.
I absolutely love the style of going level by level and giving attention exactly where it is needed just going by your natural reaction to the game.
I'm so happy this series is happening and excited to see what comes next!
Really liking this series, looking forwards to the next one!
I love this goal! Hope you keep making these CZcams summary videos, as thats the only way for me to watch them. Cant wait to see what struggles you overcome and what games you will hate and love.
awsome series!!! Instant like for every video of that!!
Dang man, I had almost completely forgotten about this game. We had it when I was a kid, I'm pretty sure it was one of our first games for the N64. (Not super surprising, it was one of the earlier games after all)
And yeah... I remember my brother also struggling for ages trying to find the world and raging about them hiding it behind the waterfall :D
Great video Beast, much nostalgia for DKR here too. I like how you've added the stream reactions. Not sure I ever did beat WizPig...that space world doesn't look familiar...
Another awesome video. Looking forward to Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, and Pilotwings.
I never could beat all the time trials to unlock TT. I did love using Drumstick the rooster though, unlocked much more easily by running over a frog that had a rooster comb.
As for Wizpig, I found the first race super hard and the second almost trivial. With brake-turning the plane, steering was extremely accurate.
Awww yeah!! DKR is one of my favorite N64 games ever! Funny story - I was watching my brother struggle to try to beat Wizpig the second time, in space, I must have watched him fail it dozens of times, that I beat it on my first attempt at it, I was so familiar with the run!
Wow holy shit dude. You just unlocked a deep memory of me hitting that exact same palm tree and losing to the dino boss.
Just found your series - love it... will be watching more!
I had this game as a kid! I was so proud When I unlocked T.T. and beat Wizpig. Honestly can't remember if I did the space levels. Keep up the great work, loving the commentary!
I love your videos buddy, thank you for this. Its exactly what i've always wanted with a youtube channel that covers Nintendo 64 games.
I love this new series. Cant wait to see the next one!
I played this game a lot as a kid. You were right about the waterfall entrance being confusing and trying to beat that darn Wizpig is tough. I don't recall if I ever beat him the second time. That's was back when most people didn't think to look up tutorials online. I mostly played multiplayer, though.
Love this series and love the format thab!
I would recommend putting “review” or “analysis” so something in the title. I thought this would be a play through and didn’t know this video was this awesome style! Really love to hear your opinion on the games! I loved this game so much as a kid! This content is a nice change of pace from your other videos I’m a huge fan and can’t wait for more videos like this great job
Enjoying this series!
Thing about the Second Adventure: It's not just the same game but backwards. All the tracks are backwards, but the silver coins are *much* harder in the second adventure.
Buckle up guys. I don’t think we all grasp just how long this series is going to be 😂
Pretty sure it's gonna be 394 video long ;) But yeah, hard to grasp what a number like that actually means.
You are an amazing content creator and I will forever be watching and rooting for your success. This series is fun so far and will be a joy to watch.
I'm really interested in seeing you complete this series!! It's a great concept and idea. One thing I'd like to see is maybe a solid game play section or two so we can be in the experience of beating the game with you here on CZcams!!!
So true - this is the most important thing to highlight! I think I may have what you’re looking for, especially in diddy Kong racing
This is fantastic. I really look forward to the series' continuation.
GET WRECKED WALRUS!! Haha nice man!
This is class. Gonna watch them all
Great series! Love the random aspect of it
Two DK games in a row to start the challenge. Love it.
Diddy Kong Racing was one of the first games I ever owned a players guide for. Despite being only like 5 years old, I still know most of the secrets and unlockable characters. Such a fantastic game
I wish I saw these videos when they were first released because I would have loved to support you on this journey. I enjoy it so much and I'm so glad that you continued baking them
My favorite new series! Please keep doing them!
My brothers and I still get together every once in a while and play this thoroughly. There is also another secret character the Rooster that you can unlock. I kind of forgot how but I think maybe its winning all of the Grand Prix Trophy Races in each world (pre space), then there will be a frog with a little rooster head that you can squish in the main courtyard (near Pig Head). The Rooster drives like Vin Diesel out of F&F. This one is an absolute gem.
really love this concept. new sub! I cant wait till you play Jet Force Gemini, easily the most criminally underrated game in the history of games
God rare and Nintendo had SUCH a good thing in the 90s, every game was so good. Too bad they’ve done nothing close since
I agree, they had great games and fazed out. Shame.
I think you guys should take the nostalgia goggles off
@@ejej3000 ‘s favorite game is Sea Of Thieves..Sea Of Thieves NUTS FIT IN YO MOUTH
@@ejej3000 absolute insanity, Donkey Kong Country 1,2 & 3, Banjo Kazoie 1 & 2, Conker and Goldeneye still hold up without nostalgia glases
@@SativaLungz DKC 2 and Banjo 1 sure
Look at those polygons, the water, the animation, the textures! DKR is a dead example of late-N64 greatness. That being said, this game had a lot of heart, too - in the wacky story, expressive characters, incredible music and funny script. 10/10 game
Except it wasn't even late ;) 1997 just a year after the release of the console. Talk about a great game. Definitely 10/10!
I got my N64 in college and this and Mario 64 were my first two games. I love them both so much. Totally agree about the winter levels in DKR. The colored lighting and music are perfect.
Way to rate this so high, I agree completely with the enjoyment, I remember enjoying this as much as donkey Kong 64 100% completion! Thank you for the reminder of great memories ☺️
So good! Lucked out so far on the games! Can't wait to see you play some real gems
"Get wrecked walrus. You hacker"
I laughed so hard. Love this it brings me back to sweeter times
music of diddy kong racing is just amazing - i got chills everytime i hear it its amazing
great video, I loved this game so much on N64. Can't wait to see more of these. Rogue Squadron please.
The second play through is mirrored but also a harder difficulty. I think that is how you truly defeat Wizpig!
I like this series Thab! Great videos too!
Such a good series. Can't wait to watch the Conker's Bad Fur Day, TLOZ: Ocarina of Time and Majora Mask, Pokemon Snap and Stadium, Mario Party and Rouge Squadron vids.
And Banjo-Kazooie don’t forget Banjo-Kazooie!
Great video!! Can’t wait to see a whole video on Tonic Trouble aha
Man. A friend and I rented this one time from Blockbuster. The first hour we HATED it... But we rented it, so we kept playing for the whole weekend and ended up beating it. It was absolutely awesome and we loved it by the end! Fantastic game.
So glad I stumbled upon this in the algorithm. Super cool concept for a series
You, my sir, are doing God's work. I could never beat this game when it came out.
This is such a great series. Even though I recognize it's not the best console ever, the N64 has a special place in my heart as it was my peak childhood gaming years, 8-12. This game was so good, underrated in the annals of gaming.
The reason Nintendo didn't put up much of a fight to keep Rare is because the people they believed were the most responsible for Rare's success had all left the company by 2002. Combine this with the retirement of Rare's founders (Tim and Chris Stamper) Nintendo chose to sell high on their investment, sensing an impending decline. But what a magical run Rare had with Nintendo! Easily one of the strongest partnerships in the gaming era with many memorable and high-quality games :)
Such a great series of vids. Encouraged me to dust off my old N64. Cheers!
He rages like Kip from Napoleon dynamite.
Awesome videos man I love the nostalgia.
I really respect your endeavour of beating every game fair and square! I wish I got the patience for doing the same. :D
Me and a good friend used to play this game all the time. Knew every shortcut there was by the end and we were both really good and really competitive with it. Miss those days and I miss my friend. RIP Ben Thomas, miss you buddy
Haha.. thanks ..... what... Goemon! I can't wait to see you do that one I loved that game. I remember playing through it a few times while having a saving issue so I'd have to beat the game all in one sitting. Alright.. DKR was another gem. I liked it more than Mario Kart just because of the boss races. I remember it taking forever to beat Whiz Pig in the first race so I was so upset knowing you had to race him again while he rode a rocket. 🤣
Awesome summary, loved this nostalgia trip
the soundtrack of this game is absolutely amazing
9:03 The reason kids got it was they played around and had fun rather than just trying to win. I remember so many times I'd just go in on 2 player and play hide and seek with my friends. There isn't a spot we werent familiar with after the first couple days in the lobby.
I love this review! Exactly like you said I didn't find the last world behind the waterfall and just quit lol
This game was the centerpiece to my best Christmas ever as a kid. God bless you Diddy Kong ❤🤟
This is my fave game! I’m stuck on certain silver coin ones… :( and I have no idea where the keys are… thank you for sharing… I had no idea this game was so involved!
Loved renting this game as a kid. Would love to beat the whole story mode like you did here at some point. God N64 has so many great games
if you notice at 7:42 in the walrus race the text actually changes to show is he is in 2nd in the upper left before telling him he actually got 1st
This reminded me that i really miss playing Chocobo racing
T.T. the unlockable racer is insane, above average in every stat. Acceleration, handling and top speed. Using him is a cheat code. Using him against your friends is akin to picking Oddjob in Goldeneye. People stop wanting to play with you.
Love the reaction against the walrus race
As a kid, me and the kid whose family owned the cartridge would fight over who got to be Timber since we were both obsessed with cats (usually, he'd be Timber). Whoever didn't get to be Timber would be Conker and smaller kids would sometimes play Pipsy or Tiptup. Nobody ever played Bumper.
i played crash bandicoot racing as kid feels like that game took alot of the singleplayer mode from this game since it had a map were you drove to the race gates to unlock new areas
Loving the series! I was wondering though if you've ever explained how you have all the games?
This is my new favorite series!!!
This game is basically:
1. Fun
2. You get to wizpig and stop playing
The reaction to beating the Walrus. Priceless. haha
7:40
I think something that is interesting about this game compared to Mario Kart is that it has some different variety in terms of flying, etc. That was something that stood out to me when I played this game years ago. While it definintely felt like Mario Kart, it also felt unique.
Was a Christmas game for me.
Love it and I had no idea people felt Wizpig was really tough but he always felt beatable, I haven’t completed many games but this I have a few times.
Me, my brother, sister, and some friends played this awesome game so much back in the day. I got it when it first launched. Don't remember if we 100% it, It's been many years since I last played, we definitely tried to. As soon as he mentioned Greenwood village traumatic memories I must have blocked out came flooding back lol. Silver coins, and I think that second quest mirror thing is also "expert" difficulty. Idk it's been so long
Dude literally same childhood. The battle maps were amazing. All I can remember is the level inside the pyramid? It's all a blur lol
You didn't 100% it because doing so would have been a memorable moment. I spent the better part of my 12th and 13th year of life trying to do just that with a players guide and still couldn't unlock all the extra characters
Greenwhich village was the reason for MANY crying fits as a kid. That silver coin stuff was no joke
Great review Thab! Keep it up!
