True, I don't know of any split rings that small though. I've used a crimp ring like that before.

Its DIY : cheaper = better

I would put a little circle wire into the hole but I would be little concern of the little piece of plastic holding up in the long run. Pulling keys out of my pocket in the long run may be too much wear on it. A real tiny metal washer glued may make it more durable.
Thought the same and afterwards you can seal it with some hot glue to keep it water resistant

They are actually masters at making their users purchase additional products after purchasing their products. Like how the homepod required apple music, most airtag users will want to put them on their keyring. Instead of just building it into the product, they sell you a separate product to solve the problem.

Porter Cable drill and Milwaukee drill bit set. Nice! Looks like he spent almost as much on the drill and bits as he did on the Hermes AirTag holder. I prefer my Product RED leather AirTag key ring where the tag just snaps in without risking damage to the tag. (I also like my Milwaukee tape master and utility knife with built-in phillips head screw driver. Milwaukee makes really nice products.)
