As a descendant of the Boyd clan, this battle has fascinated me. As I understand it, Robert Boyd and his clan was tasked with assaulting the Norwegians holding the highground above the beach at Largs, apparently leading to the clan motto "Confido" originated here. Thank you for this video.

Brilliant, I’m sure that could be a video all on its own! I think the Boyd’s were given land at Kilmarnock to build Dean Castle as a thanks after this
      Cheers for watching 👍

@TVAyrshire as I understand it, it was Largs that they earnt the Boyd clan a rep, it was the Boyd involvement in the first Scottish war of independence for Sir William Wallace and Robert the Bruce that they were awarded Kilmarnock, after Bannockburn.

Why celebrate Viking culture in Largs?
Celebrate the culture of the victor,Scotland!!!

Ha that’s true! I suppose it’s nice to have a niche, you can celebrate Scotland everywhere in Scotland but Largs has a unique connection as the last ‘Viking’ battle

      @@TVAyrshire which we won !
Celebrate seeing the back of them. Same as the Romans.
Should be mocked not honoured for their cheek.
Anyway, here's tae us...can't even dominate oor ain tongue ,be it Scots ,Gaelic or Brythonic, but know how to defend oor wee nation.
Wonder if we'll have to fight the massive numbers floating into south Britain in the future?
