    I love your videos, and I don't even have a horse. That look you made after having your gums pressed in, hilarious!

    During the floods (in Australia) one of the agisted horses Gus caught pneumonia and he is super old he is 36 years old. We called his owner and she told us that he will have to be put down. I was devastated. He had a disgusting nose and his eyes were dripping and he smelt of death. The euthinist that was supposed to come couldn’t make it due to the flood water. Somehow after 2 weeks of staying in a stall (he couldn’t get wet and it was raining so much) he recovered. The owner is keeping 2 horses on our property, but is taking Gussy back when it dries out and keeping her other horse Toby here with my mare Rose.

    We have Oak trees on the property. I learned a very hard, heartbreaking, vital thing. Acorns (for my pony,) are like a quick trip to the candy store for a diabetic. Yes, acorns are crunchy and delicious. Even worse, they not only create but, flame the fires of laminitis. With my farrier, we've come a long way in recovery. We (me and the dog,) plan to have a new beginning with her this Spring (your courses)... Just as soon as the new area for her is fenced in, and shade provided. Thank you for your content!

    Wonderful video! This video told me a lot of information and I love the humour in it. It’s always good to know what happening with your horse/pony and obviously how to help in the situations. Thanks so much!! (I love this channel)

      this video is so helpful!! twice, my 30-year-old min/shetland cross colicked, and we rubbed some peppermint oil on his gums, and 45 minutes later, he farted. turned out, he has gas stuck in his gut causing a lot of pain. If your horse colicks, there is a chance it has gas trapped, and rubbing peppermint oil on their gums can help. It is definitely worth a chance to save your horse's life, especially since it doesn't have any ill side effects.

    Behavior issues are a huge indicator and should not be taken lightly. We had a horse founder last year. He seemed a bit sore, but nothing that we could really pinpoint so were originally waiting it out, thinking it was an abscess. But what did it for having the vet out is the fact that he's a very neat horse. He always poops outside in his pen, and never in his stall. But he had started pooping in his stall which was abnormal. If I pulled him out to groom he didn't try to play bite me like normal either. It was really little things that were the indicators that something was up. It really helps here to know your horse and know their little quirks to know when something's off. It also makes them that much more special when they come back, because you know they're feeling better!
    Same thing for eating - we have one horse who is very slow to eat his meals, while all the others eat immediately. Knowing their habits can be really important. To most horses not eating or eating slowly is an issue, especially if they normally eat quickly.

    so glad you recommend calling the vet. it is NEVER wrong to call a vet. I'm always astounded at those that want to spare a few $ that could risk their horses' lives and start by posting questions regarding an injury or illness. If you don't know, please call a vet.

    Fatigue and stubbornness can seem almost the same in a horse, which is something to take into mind. If they're acting tired they might also be out of shape. I'd recommend watching them for a while to see if they act like that for a long period of time, and if they do, then they're fatigued.

    Did Tucker get his chest shaved?

    • @c_and_l
      @c_and_l Před 2 lety

      I know this is an old question, but it looks like a partial clip. Especially when the weather starts to get warmer, shaving the chest can be a great way to keep them cooler while they're still shedding out, and it isn't as much work as any of the larger and more time consuming body clips.

      @SLOmo. You are being unkind & rude. When you enter someone else's house, you do NOT have the right to insult them. The same applies here. Really, grow up & stop trying to be a bully.

      Only rude and ignorant people think that they can tell people about what they like and don’t like about their body, or more so, think that they will care.
