    Thanks for video did my thermostat in 30 mins watching this, only had one problem that the new thermostat housing has a hole in bottom where as mine didn't so I just removed the innards, new sensor and gasket then swapped to my old housing, car finally gets to operating temperature and mpg has gone up a lot! Cheers again!

      @@Enginesetc Did you have an issue getting the right part? The one I got had an outlet hole on the bottom of the housing which isn't on the original, it looks like the new part you have has this extra outlet also but the old part you removed didn't? Cheers 👍

      @Enginesetc  Před rokem

      @@mikeb6385 Nope, euro car parts, enter reg and then one option. Which outlet hole sorry, is there a moment in the video you can see it? it has the spout for the expansion tank line and the hole where I cut the thread for the bracket, that's about it?

      @mikeb6385 Před rokem

      @@Enginesetc thanks for your reply.. It's where you have your index finger when you are comparing the old and new together, like a spout of about 20mm diameter.. I ordered mine from gsf via their website using the car reg.. I'll try euros! Thanks.

      @Enginesetc  Před rokem

      @@mikeb6385 ahhhh yeah, I've got my finger inside of it haven't I! The quite wide and pronounced circular shape. Ok it's just a moulding on mine, it wasn't an actual hole that let anything through, it just seems to be a weird design choice in the moulding. It should be same on yours in that it doesn't actually go anywhere :)

      Is it going up to over halfway? I would recommend changing it and making sure all air is out of the system just to rule it out as a cheap option

    I have the same moptor and the temperature is around 100, now the water pump is smaller, hasn't it been changed for sure 100,000 km, so I'm wondering if I should also change the thermostat, is the water in the bowl boiling to some extent and disappearing, and the small radiator for heating was clogged and had a weak flow I hope that my problem will be solved, but I don't know if I should also replace the thermostat

    • @Enginesetc
      @Enginesetc  Před rokem +1

      Yeah I would also recommend thermostat as well if you're doing water pump, might as well for the small extra cost to eliminate most issues

    At 4.46 when u take the engine cover off, is that red thing ?? Rear right of engine not the engine dip stick, although its only a cap, no stick. The gearbox dipstick is further back nearer the screen and lower down !
    Ive got pink coolant in my CLK, is that a higher or lower level than the blue ??

    • @Enginesetc
      @Enginesetc  Před rokem

      Hi Arnie, nope thats definitely my gearbox dipstick tube, might just be the angle on camera. I filled my gearbox through it when I did a service and some repairs on it so definitely gearbox one :)
      There's nothing wrong as such with a good pink coolant but Mercedes specifies the blue one, probably some different properties in terms of anti corrosion etc. As long as you now stick to the pink one, never mix the colours or they can turn into a gel and block tubes, leading to overheating etc. If you ever decided to go to blue, drain all the coolant, fill system up with water and flush it through, drop that and then you can change so you dont mix any :)

      @@Enginesetc ok i will flush system and go with the blue!!!

    • @Enginesetc
      @Enginesetc  Před rokem

      @@arnietwo11 Ok bud, let us know how you get on. Be thorough and remember thermostat is closed until operating temperature so you will probably need to remove thermostat and flush water through from that side as well to ensure you get all traces of the pink out!

      The red plug at the bottom of the rad I assume? That is a coolant drain hole, yours might need tightening or new plug/gasket
