- In November 2022, the SoundStage! video team visited the manufacturing headquarters of Bowers & Wilkins, located in Worthing, UK. The company was founded in 1966 by hi-fi legend John Bowers. Inside of a facility that is approximately 120,000 square feet, Bowers & Wilkins employees labor over the creation of the company's flagship 800 series of loudspeakers, a line currently capped off by the 801 Series Diamond D4 model. Watch this video to find out the whole story from Andy Kerr, Bowers & Wilkins’s director or marketing and communication. The story of how these loudspeakers get made is inspiring!

Great video I love my 805 D3 and 805 D4 both amazing and dorks of art.
Definitely beautiful speakers!
I have the 804 D4s - I traded in my D3s because the leap from the D3 to D4 was HUGE. In the 800 D4 series the 804 is the model that saw the biggest leap forward from the D3 line, and luckily I bought them via preorder BEFORE the 20% jump in price, they are $14K now. The build quality is off the charts now for the money.
Question: what difference(s) did you note?
@@dougschneider8243bass is firmer and more delineated, the mid range is much more open, the top end sweeter, but none of this has been at the expense of resolution, indeed I'd say there is even more resolution but it's not coming off as "hot". Also they go LOUD without any distortion, and no I don't hear the bottom firing port despite what the haters say must be a problem after the Stereophile measurements were published. I WILL say they are most likely hard to drive properly because of the impedance swings that tax the amp at crucial junctures (I have Gryphon Diablo 300 driving them), so you have to have relatively costly electronics in front of them to get the best out of them, but that's always been the case with B&W regardless of the generation.
I have the 804D4 on order.....so your words are very interesting! Can't wait to get mine!
@@xsamitt hey Fender Man, what is your system?
@@michaelmityok1001 Hi...I have Bryston 28B Cubed With A bryston BP-26 Preamp with a bryston CD player.I don't have a Dac or streem! I keep it very simple. I use iSO Clean for the Cd Player and Preamp ....the amps are Direct to the wall outlet........How about your setup?.....Would like to know how you feel about the 804's now that you have some hours on them?
Just purchased a used pair of 802N and they sound fantastic for being 20 years old. They are MINT CONDITION.
I have the B&W in my BMW, wish they made the subs a little better. Other that, it sounds amazing.
I couldn't believe how many they had coming off the line. These speakers are moving in VOLUMES.
Me too!
Great speaker👍 👌, pricy too unfortunately 😊😊
The 800 series is the flagship series -- so there are many below for you.
Although expensive, when you see one in real life -- and when you see them being built, particularly the 801 -- you can see that they're not overpriced.
Here's a question for people watching this video: Do YOU already own Bowers & Wilkins speakers?
Yep, the 803D4 😀 In walnut
Nautilus 802
Yes, 805D4's. The best speaker I have owned. That says a lot since I have owned 63 models of speakers before these, some of which I still have.
