Dear Sir, Never mind the cold swim, just the scenery & the house location is absolutely wonderful almost like on Christmas postcards &/ Christmas movies for kids. It's certainly is vey serene. Kind regards.
Have you thought about "the birth of an instrument: the alphorn"? There are still a few Swiss Alphorn builders that do it all by hand (as in no machines). Anyways... Love the channel guys!
I also live in Latvia and have been experiencing these very same temps.... not a chance you'd catch me swimming in it though, with the exception of coming straight from the sauna.
Michel Simard It could be a quick change in temperature from the day before. The water hasn’t had time to freeze yet. Maybe something to do with it running so it takes longer to freeze.
Judging by the name of the place, Old Watermill Spring, it's likely spring fed and so would likely not freeze over most of the time. Water coming out of the ground isn't going to be cold enough, and the constant movement makes it hard to set up.
Fisher Man yeah it can but not -22 haha that would have to be some super intense movement that would cause freezing anyway.. and it would possibly increase the temperature too.. gee I don't think it's posibble to keep water in the temperature of -22 not frozen.. definitely not.
Plus water at that temperature would probably start freezing around the body and would be pretty much deadly.. for if 1° is extreme.. then if water would be -22° the air temp would probably have to be like -50° or -60 or even more... Humans can't cope with such low temperatures (being naked)
I grew up in Minnesota and.............. we didn't do that. Just wanted to say we did "not" do that. I did go swimming in Lake Superior once and that was very difficult to even think about
Nice video, but from my experience as a winter swimmer, at -22C you could just skate and not swim in that lake. You should correct that temperature in your video.
-22° is probably the air temperature. And since the pound seems to be not frozen over naturally it obviously does have a higher water temperature. Maby there is a stream or something so it doesn't freeze.
Water transfers heat and cold much more than air does. Thats why humid cold air feels colder than cold dry air. So swimming in water that is the temperature of the air is actually a lot colder and sucks the heat from your body much faster.
if it does kill you, it can still be good clickbait.

This video probably has one of the highest title-content correlation that you can find on CZcams. You clicked a video called "Winter Swimming" on a channel called "Northmen", an lo and behold, video is about a Northern guy swimming in a foggy-cold water. What is the problem exactly? Where does the surprise /clickbait part come in?
What, no ducks, it's probably too cold for them! Seriously though, wouldn't your heart stop from the cold? You make the rest of us men look like wimps!
Savage....there's a reason why they are called Northmen...this is one of them! Love this channel!
Wim Hof will love this video 👍👍👍 😁
Cool! -22°C and the lake is not frozen! Not even a hair thin layer of ice. Cool!
Always look forward to your videos.
Awesome, I am a Minnesota Finlsnder and miss those swims and the sauna after.

are you a time traveler?
Dear Sir/Madam,

And in general, bathing at a low temperature is very useful. Tempers.
Amazing

Niçe but here in Canada in minus 22 c we walk on water ......my pond be frozen at that temperature???
Michel Simard It could be a quick change in temperature from the day before. The water hasn’t had time to freeze yet. Maybe something to do with it running so it takes longer to freeze.
Most likely it has a fairly steady flow from the inlet and outlet and isn’t stationary.
Judging by the name of the place, Old Watermill Spring, it's likely spring fed and so would likely not freeze over most of the time. Water coming out of the ground isn't going to be cold enough, and the constant movement makes it hard to set up.
So i take it this is salt water? If not then how does it not freeze?
That is so cool.
That is very very COOL.... :)
Wow~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Мы тоже купаемся, почти каждый день, поверте это очень здорово
It's -22C and there is no ice on the water. how it is posible?
just by watching that my johnson shrank to a raisin dimension...
Where is this? We are very north 46 degrees to be exact and it has been in the forties.
Have you ever taken your body temperature after a cold swim? How often do you do the cold swim? Do you sauna after?
The body temp drops about 0.5-1 degree. We do swim about 3x times a week. No, no sauna afterward. Just hot tea and warm place to shelter.
@@neemantools where is so beautiful lake or pond? What it's name? Can I come to visit it?
Ciekawe jak przy -22 C nie zamarzł ten staw?
Are you ever sick? Do you get sore throat or anything after being in the freezing water?
See my post above for assistance with this question.
How is the water not frozen if it's -22?
My brother nice Way to temper and condition yourself ay .. be safe ...
that is exhilarating. especially after sauna.
With this ritual, corona will never have got a chance.

А где лёд на водоеме, если там -22 ???
Krazy man
country?
I literally dont understand how this is possible I cant even take a cold shower
That's intense. Is that the air temp or water temp? Either way, this is crazy. Coldest I ever swam was around 1-2C in Scotland. Good job!
Air temp. Water top layer temp is about +1, +2C.
Keith Mason Water freezes at 0°c.
If water is moving like as in a river water temp can go below freezing temp
Fisher Man yeah it can but not -22 haha that would have to be some super intense movement that would cause freezing anyway.. and it would possibly increase the temperature too.. gee I don't think it's posibble to keep water in the temperature of -22 not frozen.. definitely not.

Damn I miss my Russian morning baths... So good for the body!

-22 and the water is not frozen? how?
yeah but too slow
OMG!
There’s hard core....and then there is Northmen hard core!
zero degree
Why?? 😳
-22°C ? what about frozen water ?
I go to do ice wimming at one lake and there is a pump that. keeps the water moving.
So even it is - 30 celsius the water does not get frozen.
hahahah crazy man =)
I'm surprised he could tread that water with those huge balls he has

This isnt Apetor i clicked on :P
Looks chilly. Need coffee and something to read...
Boosting immun system! Nicee
After he came out of the water, his nipples could cut diamonds.
How does it come that the water isn't frozen?
It is flowing all the time. Seven springs come out of the ground and makes it unfrozen even at -40C.
so that means its around zero celsius
Although it's beautiful it's easy to understand why so many Northern people rush to the Mediterranean to to swim when they can.
Dude must have a giant hammer.
Post a new video please
They don't show him getting out of the water because he died.

I was thinking the same but then I realized it was near a streaming spring.
Water is much warmer than air.
it's aprox +1 or +2 celsius on top level, but mainly you need big courage to make decision to swim, when airs temperature is -22 :D
Water is also much cooler than air, after a point. I wonder if there is a temperature at which water and air are equal.
@@trinarybit2 Yes, such temperature depends on the air humdity.
Water transfers heat and cold much more than air does. Thats why humid cold air feels colder than cold dry air. So swimming in water that is the temperature of the air is actually a lot colder and sucks the heat from your body much faster.

Umur Karagöz The surprise comes when you expect "northmen" to show you how to stay warm and instead you see someone intentionally doing the opposite..
Okay, I see. I saw exactly what I had expected, considering thumbnail and the video length. Maybe you missed the video length to judge with.
How is this clickbait? The title is winter swimming, and the video is about winter swimming.
I'd have to get paid a lot of money first.
No
YES but at my age it would kill me.
What, no ducks, it's probably too cold for them! Seriously though, wouldn't your heart stop from the cold? You make the rest of us men look like wimps!
- 22? Huh... at us in Russia on "Bitter cold", at-36 or-50 people bathe. I including.
wow
