Doing this next year and I’m looking to build a gravel bike out of my mtb but need a frame what do you recommend $$$ ?? Will these type of frames be good for that ride ? Light. Carbon ...carbonda ???

the LC or the Carbonda frame are completely capable to handle the Renegade Rambler. I have ridden it on my Light Carbon gravel bike multiple times this year and plan to do the 100 mile race this coming year on my Carbonda 696. I would recommend comparing the geometry and specs of both and decide which one you like better or fits your riding style/geometry. I would point out that the Light Carbon frame does have a proprietary seat post clamp that I've been having issues with lately.

hi found your video because i'm thinking about doing this next year. is the route similar to what you did and have you been doing the race since? i have 2.1x650b, seems it might be overbiked. what size tire you think is good all rounder for this? doesn't seem it would get too muddy on the route, right? i was also considering 42mmx700c

Hello! This version of the route is many years old. From what I understand, the route this year coming up will be mostly new. Tire size in this area is mainly for comfort. There is a lot of smooth packed gravel; however, I usually give this route 1 to 2 weeks to dry out after a rain. There are black dirt roads that are impassable after a rain. One that comes to mind is "Mudd road" (actual name of the road). I have not looked at the routes this year, nor have I signed up. I've done the 100 miler the last two years, I believe. If I register for this year, I'll probably do a shorter distance. (Last year the weather was so bad they made all the 100 miles do the 65 mile.) I think a tire between 38 and 48 would be plenty fine. Obviously more comfort as you go towards the bigger end.

@@WeRideSouth thank you. i was looking for the routes but they said won't release until closer to ride date i think due to weather conditions changing? ya this would be my first ride. mud is scary and i might have to reconsider my tire width since i have about 5-7mm space from tire and seatstays which might not be enough if it builts up. i like the idea of the ride to fund the trails here. I live in plano so its not far from the location. thats my main reason to consider this ride :)
