I live in an apartment block with 60 apartments. They’re a pretty new-build, completed about this time last year. With me being one of the first occupants. Since then, the fire alarm goes off AT LEAST once a day. One day it was every few hours, even through the night.
At first, people would scurry outside, confused, then as the weeks and months went on, less and less people would evacuate. We have never been told about any practice drills, nor does the emergency number printed in the downstairs foyer ever answer my calls.
Now, about 11 months later, I am the only one that even leaves my apartment. This reminds me of all my neighbours. They just totally ignore it.
This is the exact reason false alarm management should be taken seriously by the owners of the building and recorded every time a false alarm occurs. For example changing smoke detectors to heat detectors in certain areas, because in a real fire people will just think its another false alarm which could lead to a catastrophe in a real event.
@@tuftex yes!! I’ve been saying this so many times to my neighbours. The way half of the apartments are situated, they wouldn’t even hear a fire truck outside (mine being one of these), so at least 30 apartments would be none-the-wiser of an actual fire! But after finally getting through to the management for the building, all they did was give me the code to work the system that turns off the alarm, no training or nothing. Totally dangerous imo
They should have a button in the control room to immediately press in the event of a fire alarm and they should evacuate. Precious seconds lost if it had been a real emergency giggling etc.

Fire alarm (if it isn't a drill) means leave the building. Being on TV doesn't mean carrying on with what you're doing. Screen should have just gone to 'back soon' and the presenters should have left like anyone else does in any other building.
As far as I'm aware, it was a quick test of the systems that they were aware about ahead of time. But yes, I totally agree with you.
@@LU7Clips who would set a fire alarm off if they are aware a live broadcast is taking place? You would test the alarms after hours.
@@Josh-wu7kzsometimes they have to do it at a specific time. Like they’ll have people in to test it and they only work a certain time

This is becoming a very British thing, where nobody responds to a fire alarm. I think its down to too regular drills or tests of the alarm. One day it really will backfire.
