I stopped drawing for an entire year and it improved my art tremendously. In this video I talked about how stop drawing for a year helped me improve my art. It wasn't easy quitting for a year, but I like how my art looks now and I could enjoy every process.

To be honest this is trueeee I usually draw something and then I wouldn't draw for some time period but when I draw after a small time period my art improves drastically

Ngl halfway through the video you made me just pull out the good ol ibis paint and start drawing as I listened. I've gone multiple months without drawing before and other times I'm obsessed and can't stop drawing. I guess drawing when you want to is the best way to go about it
yeah same, I had to stop because I gave a birth. after like more than year I got backkkkk and I've noticed that my observing skills grew up somehow. now I'm analyzing every picture I use as reference, trying to understand how material, light, poses etc are working instead of unga-bunga copy paste and hope it will look good

This is so relatable, I would draw everyday when I was younger but then I suddenly just stopped.Then at the start of last year I began drawing again bc I was watching demon slayer at the time and now I can say my art has improved a lot since then.❤

(Im still young but) last year I was still a super immature artist and the concept of anatomy and technique was lost to me but I took like a couple weeks off drawing cuz I felt stuck and I returned sometime around summer and I ended up spending almost the whole summer in my room drawing and watching samdoesarts and fungzau tutorials and learning how to use references and now I’m starting digital art. I def agree that sometimes what any artist needs to improve is to take a break, take a step back, eat an entire thing of humble pie, and start again. Art is still somth u need to work at so you need to work a lot but taking a break is very helpful

I stopped drawing digitally for close to 5 years. In that period I focused on traditional art, exclusively painting landscapes/still life. Got back to drawing people again about 2 years ago... My work improved far more in the last two years than previous.

I'll be honest here, I have done both, drawing differently every day and not drawing for many months. I used to draw on Ibis PaintX about a year ago with my finger and drew pretty badly despite having references. Recently, I got back at it, and surprisingly, without a reference, I was able to draw good. And I drew digital on my tablet regularly for months, and it improved over there as well! So, it may be different for others, but both methods worked for me. Also, I don't usually draw figures since backgrounds are my thing, so it surprised me as well.
Idk how u guys manage to draw anime like in 5hr and a chibi nahida took me 143 hrs like 3 months and i still haven’t finished it im crying
