In 2010, he directed Prasthanam, showcased in the Indian Panorama section at International Film Festival of India. The film also won the Filmfare South Critics Award for Best film and Nandi Award for Best Feature Film in 2010.

కొంచెం డిస్తుర్బ్ అనిపించినా నేను చూసే సినిమా.. ఆటో నగర్ సూర్య.... ప్రస్తానం.... నిజంగా వండర్ఫుల్..... అసలు ప్రస్తానం లాంటి థాట్స్ ఎలా వస్తాయ్ సర్.. మీకు.... ఇక ఆటోనగర్ సూర్య ఇంటెన్సిటీ చాలా ఇష్టం... చాలా అంటే చాలా ఇష్టం.... ఒక పర్సన్ ని పరిస్తుతులు ఎలా మారుస్తాయో.... ఎటు వైపు తీసుకొని వేల్తాయో సరిగ్గా చూపించారు.... ఇక ఈ ఇంటర్వ్యూ లో మిమ్మల్ని ఆ సినిమా తీయడానికి మిమ్మల్ని inspire చేసిన ఇన్సిడెంట్ నిజంగా షాకింగ్.... చాలా భయం వేసింది.... కాని తర్వాత మీరు అన్నట్టు నిజంగా అవి అన్నీ సాదారణం అయిపోయాయి..... మీరు ఇంకా మంచి సినిమాలు సినిమాలు తీయాలని వాటిలో కూడా అంతే ఇంటెన్సిటీ ఉండాలని.... మీరు సక్సెస్ అవ్వాలని కోరుకుంటున్నా..... అండ్ థాంక్స్ ఫర్ గివింగ్ బెస్ట్ మూవీస్ టో అస్....
దేవ కట్ట అంటే అంత తెలీదు మీ ఈ ఇంటర్వ్యూ చూసే వరకు. చూసాక అర్ధం అయింది ఒక మామూలు వ్యక్తి కాదు అని. అసలు ఏమైనా మాట్లాడుతున్నారా! మూడు గంటలు ఆపకుండా చూడగలిగానంటే ఎంత బాగా మీరు అడిగే ప్రశ్నలకు జవాబు చెబుతూనే ఉన్నాడు. చాలా నచ్చింది TNR గారు. మనస్ఫూర్తిగా నాకు కామెంట్ చేయాలనిపించి అర్ధరాత్రి అవుతున్న పడుకోకుండా చివరి వరకు చూసి ఈ కామెంట్ 00:00 కి ఇస్తున్న. ప్రతి వారం ఒక సినిమా చూసే అలవాటు ఉన్న నాకు ప్రతి వారం మీ ఇంటర్వ్యూ చూడడం అలవాటు అయింది.
ఇక ఈ ఇంటర్వ్యూ వాయిస్ క్లారిటీ మరియు పిక్చర్ క్లారిటీ కూడా ఇంప్రూవ్ అయింది ఇంతకు ముందు వాటితో కంపేర్ చేసి చూస్తే.

Until i watched this interview I didn't realize Autonagar Surya was made by same director as Prasthanam.
Prasthanam - everyone would agree is a beautifully written and very well made movie.
I was actually very impressed by Autonagar surya, I felt it was an intelligent movie and not like other Telugu movies. Mr. Deva is right, some of the comedy scenes seemed forced, I am sure his real version of the script would be even better.
Looking forward to more from him. Thanks for the inspiration.

Very good interview. With just one hit in his kitty , he still has lot of knowledge and information for aspiring technicians and is a honest film maker. I always avoided Autonagar surya after the reviews and late release but I watched the movie after watching this interview.
I am not able to understand the reason for failure as it never had dull moments. The only reason I think of is may be the whole movie looks to be trapped in one big set (though it is natural) and the story line looks to be too standard since 80s even though the style is new. He has to learn the art of weaving entertainment at right spots as Andhrites merely watch movies for entertainment and it shouldn't be completely avoided. I wish him all the luck for his new ventures

One of the Best & underrated & genuine director in Tollywood. But Mr.Deva plz dont fall in commercial formula crap. Make a niche for your self. Make movies like Prasthanam (minus songs).. Your fans will grow over time. You can't expect a movie like Prasthanam to be commercially hit with poor publicity. The literature /Language used in prasthanam can't be understood by regular movie goers. "Gaayam pachhiga unnappudu, paga vadu kooda....."..... Excellent..

First of all congratulations TNR Garu for successfully completing one year. We feel that your interviews were designed in matured way with intense research on subject. We are slowly moving towards your interviews.....those resembles the interviews of Karan Johar (Coffee with Karan), Simi Garewal (1980-1990), Madhu And Karan Thapar and Srinivasan Jain (NDTV).
Is prasthanam shot in digital format? As a telugu movie fan i want telugu movies to be digitised and come in home video market. Home video market in telugu is literally dead. No DVDs, No Blurays. In Tamil there is a streaming service Herotalkies and Tentkotta atleast in abroad which provide 5.1 and 1080p streaming. Why is it not happening in telugu film industry?

He didn't really blame any individual. Adi production house issue ani common public ki kuudaa telusu. Inkaa enti producers and financiers vacchi cheppedi!
