- George Washington spent the night at this Old Tavern in 1773. We’ve tried obtaining permission to Treasure Hunt around the Old Tavern. Nobody’s ever answered the door. So we did the next best thing. We obtained permission to Metal Detect the Old Farm that runs behind the Old Tavern. We found so many coins! Coins Galore

Now that's dedication > detecting in the cold and snow. At least the ground didn't look too frozen. What a great haul!

This just in. The Hoover Boys Mining Company has uncovered a copper lode. Causing copper prices to plummet world wide. Kurt "Copperhead" Franz states: " it just doesn't get better than this". Wild Bill beats a personal best of most coppers in one day. Great job guys!

A tip for detecting in the snow that I use here across the pond is to put the detector coil in a supermarket plastic carrier bag and just tie a knot in the bag above the coil. Snow won't stick to the plastic. Try using a thick carrier because stones will easily tear the plastic.

I saw an oil lamp wick holder in the same hole as your big Cent. 5:39 you should see it in top left of the screen but in the same hole. I was surprised not to see it in your collection or pull it out at that moment.
I rechecked that hole hard.

Awesome history there and you guys sure found some good coins! Washington spent a fair amount of time around here too in the 1750s but most of the places are all destroyed and covered over. Urban sprawl!
Kurt, way to go, reuniting the 2 halves of that cut silver! Now you and Bobby have ready-made BFF necklaces....just gotta get a coupla bales and necklaces! ;-) BTW, the way things are going this winter here in N FL (bottomed out at 17 at my place this morning), I'm envisioning a HB hunt where everyone finding caked up silver is getting pissed off because when they go to Foo the coin, nothing comes out of the bottle but snow flurries....hehehehe.....
