Hi Laura, just reading your new book Sew Very Easy Patternless Sewing, which arrived this morning here is South Wales UK, and love it. 😍😍 Two things immediately stand out for me; 1) how many of the patterns can be used to make other things. I.e. the sewing machine cover, with very little alteration, can be a food mixer cover. Or made smaller it becomes a toaster cover. It is always a big plus in my book when one pattern can be used in many different ways. 2) It is an ideal book for teaching youngsters about sewing and quilting. Many of the patterns can be made up quickly so a child has the satisfaction, and joy, of making something and seeing the results in a short space of time. 😊😊😊😊

I absolutely love this! I sat down and made two right away! Don’t go too narrow on that handle. Thank you so much, Laura, for sharing this with all of us!

Yes, I used fusible fleece, just because that's what I have at home right now (I couldn't wait 😆) and it was a bit of a challenge turning it through, but not impossible, and it's a short distance, luckily, but the thinner handle could be done with very light or no interfacing, I imagine... and these quick, easy projects are my favourite 😊

Thank you for this beautiful and quick project. I made mine with fusible fleece to add more body. I wouldn't recommend anything heavier as turning it through the handles would be difficult. It came out perfect! Also, I stitched the handle cut-outs together - then sewed the two circles RST , turn & topstitch. Voila! made myself a small mug rug. Perfect for going to our community's coffee socials. Bonus! and no waste.

I had some fun with this and am going to experiment with the size because as soon as I saw this bag I knew it would solve a bitty problem I have: something small to carry my hand embroidery and hoop. While following your directions I had a thought. Well actually, I had several but only tried 2 of them. One was to take the fabric that was cut from the handle and turn it into a pocket (I used it on the outside of the bag) and the other was to use a contrasting fabric and make a traditional slip pocket on the inside. While they both worked well, anyone else considering doing this would be best to add the pockets after turning the fabric inside out as the bulk of the pockets made it a bit harder than it needed to be. As for placement, I assumed 1/4" seam allowance and so placed the pockets 1-1/2" from the bottom cut edge and centered. For the slip pocket, it finished at 8" wide and 2-1/2" tall and was placed in the same manner. Thank you, Laura, this is fun and the next step is to figure out what size fabric I need to have it hold my 8" hoop.

I think I would save the two half circles you cut out and make a cute little pouch out of it, so that way you could have two items out of one fat quarter....

💝✂️ I discovered a way to sew faster and easier even as a beginner, I talk more about it in my channel, I hope it helps those who need it. 🌺🙂
